Hearing this, Tanjiro was taken aback. He clearly hadn't expected Tamayo to make such a request.
"While I can't guarantee absolute safety, it's certainly safer than having her fight alongside you," Tamayo continued.
Tanjiro began to waver, thinking that a peaceful life with Tamayo might be more suitable for Nezuko, a young girl.
Nezuko seemed to understand Tamayo's words and immediately clasped Tanjiro's hand tightly, as if telling him that compared to a peaceful life, she preferred to be with him.
Tanjiro looked at Nezuko and understood her meaning from her eyes. His heart warmed.
Just as Tanjiro was about to refuse Tamayo's suggestion, Ryuji rejected it first.
"Tamayo-san, I can't agree to this proposal. I'll only feel at ease if Nezuko stays by my side," Ryuji refused.
Ryuji's reason was simple: Nezuko's life was linked to his. Therefore, he preferred to keep control of her fate rather than entrusting it to others.
Of course, Ryuji wouldn't tell Tamayo and Tanjiro this, as it was a secret no one could know.
Tanjiro was also taken aback by Ryuji's words. He hadn't expected Ryuji to refuse to let Nezuko go either. Had Ryuji truly fallen for Nezuko? Or was he feeling guilty after seeing Nezuko's body and wanted to take responsibility for her?
Amidst his random thoughts, Tanjiro dismissed these messy ideas. Since Ryuji didn't want to be separated from Nezuko, he shouldn't let Nezuko go either.
"I'm truly sorry, Tamayo-san. Thank you for your concern, but Nezuko is my only family. I absolutely cannot abandon her! Nezuko must stay with me and Ryuji!" Tanjiro expressed his stance to Tamayo.
Seeing the three of them so inseparable, Tamayo realized it was their collective decision and didn't press further.
"I understand! Then, good luck to you!" Tamayo said in farewell.
Yushiro, seeing that Nezuko wasn't staying, felt relieved. He didn't want too many people around Tamayo; otherwise, he wouldn't have a chance to be alone with her.
"Then, goodbye! We need to erase the traces of the battle before we leave. You should go now!" Yushiro seized the opportunity, wanting to quickly send Ryuji, Tanjiro, and Nezuko away.
"Goodbye, Yushiro and Tamayo-san!" Tanjiro politely bid farewell to Tamayo and Yushiro.
Ryuji didn't say much in farewell to Tamayo. Before leaving, he took one last look at Tamayo's beautiful face before turning and leaving.
Nezuko quickly followed. Tanjiro waved goodbye to Tamayo and Yushiro before following suit.
Just as Tanjiro stepped onto the stairs, Yushiro suddenly called out, "Tanjiro!"
Tanjiro stopped and turned back, looking at Yushiro questioningly, waiting for what he had to say.
"Nezuko… she's a beauty," Yushiro said without turning his head, still facing away from Tanjiro.
Hearing this, Tanjiro smiled affirmatively. With a happy laugh, he disappeared from Tamayo's sight.
