~Bella's POV
I stood beside Alex, watching as the ambulance that carried Mia and Michael disappeared down the road. The flashing lights reflected in my eyes, and for a moment, all I could do was take deep, steadying breaths. It was finally happening. My sister was on her way to a better place, a better hospital where she would receive the care she desperately needed. Relief flooded my chest, making my body feel lighter than it had in weeks.
I turned to Alex, my voice soft but filled with emotion. "Thank you, Alex. I don't know how I can ever repay you for this. You've done more for me than anyone ever has."
Alex met my gaze, his expression unreadable as he tucked his hands into his pockets. "You don't need to repay me, Bella. Just take care of yourself and your sister. That's enough."
Tears welled up in my eyes, but I quickly blinked them away. I had promised myself I wouldn't cry, not now. I had to stay strong.
