The three of them came up with a simple plan within five minutes, before their attack. Rosie sneaked around to the otherside of the wolves, and luckily she was not found. Xavier nodded to Maria and she nodded back nervously. He jumped out of the bushes, startling the wolves, before he lunged at the closest one. He stabbed it and black blood sprayed from the wound. This caught the wolves attention and they quickly ran towards him, he threw his daggers at two of the wolves, impaling one in the eye and the other in the base of their neck.
He quickly dived and grabbed a spear off the ground as a wolf lunged at him. Just then, an arrow came flying through the air and stabbed it in the stomach. The wolf fell to the ground and Xavier quickly lunged at Iron Fanged Wolf. The last Savage Wolf lunged at him but Rosie quickly jumped out of the bushes and threw her sword at it. The monster dodged the incoming sword and turned around, growling at her. Rosie quickly looked around for a weapon.
"You gotta be fucking kidding me." She said as the only weapon close to her was a bronze dagger. The wolf lunged at her and she quickly grabbed the dagger. Both of them crashed to the ground, the wolf bit at her furiously, and she held it off by placing her had at it's neck. The wolf sliced at her with it's claws and she quickly started to repeatedly stab it in the neck.
"Now I understand why these things are called "Savage" Wolves." Rosie said as she tried to get up, but the wounds were pretty serious, keeping her down, preventing her from getting up. Luckily for her, her vitality attribute was pretty high, which slowed down the bleeding, and she crawled back into the bushes.
This left Xavier to fight the Iron Fanged Wolf in close combat, and he quickly realized why Tsubasa was having so much trouble. This monster was stronger and faster than the other E- ranked creatures he have fought so far. Additionally, the wound that Tsubasa had dealt in the previous fight didn't slow it down and Xavier realized why. He had stabbed it several times with his spear, but it felt like the spear barely sunk into it's flesh each time.
'This things fur is way too thick.' Xavier thought, as he blocked a paw swipe with the shaft of the spear and he was sent flying as he could contest with it in a battle of strength. He slammed into a tree, and fell to the ground, but he quickly rolled out of the way as the wolf came flying in, toppling over the tree behind him.
'Luckily, I'm faster.' Xavier thought as he got to his feet. He and the wolf stood there, glaring at each other, when another arrow came flying through the air and stabbed the wolf in the eye. The wolf roared in pain and Xavier took the chance and rushed towards it. The wolf saw him, and howled loudly in pain and rage. Xavier trembled once more, but he didn't freeze like the others. He instead plunged his spear into the creature's neck, drawing a bit of black blood.
'Damn it, I should have invested more points in strength.' Xavier thought regretfully, as he was pushed back by the wolf. The wolf rushed in and slashed his paws at him, forcing Xavier to block with the shaft of his spear. The spear snapped in half and Xavier quickly threw away the extra piece of the shaft and kept the part with the blade as he rolled out of the wolf's path. He quickly got to his feet and got onto the wolf's back, and stabbed the broken spear into it's neck repeatedly.
The wolf roared in pain and tried to shake Xavier off, as it thrashed around wildly. Xavier tried his best to hang on and continue to stab the monster, but he was eventually thrown off. The wolf roared victoriously and an arrow came flying from the bushes, stabbing it in the mouth.
"Nice shot." Xavier said as the wolf thrashed around wildly, trying to get the arrow out of it's mouth. The wolf turned around and glared in Maria's direction, and Xavier lunged towards it again. He stabbed the spear into the wolf's leg where it's fur was thin, and managed to draw a large amount of blood and the large wolf to fall to the ground. Xavier backed off and retrieved his daggers as arrows rained on the creature, but most of them didn't do any damage due to it's thick fur. Xavier rushed over and stabbed his daggers into the monster's head over and over until it stopped moving.
"You did it." Maria said as she came out of hiding, and Xavier noticed that her previous position changed.
"No, we did it. You helped out a lot." Xavier said and Maria smiled.
"Let's collect the monster stones and find some more wolves to pay the tax." Maria said and Xavier stopped her.
"Let's collect the monster stones after the fight is over." Xavier said and Maria looked at him confused. No sooner after he said this, a spear came flying out of the forest and Xavier quickly moved her out of the way as he caught it in his hands.
"You have good reflexes. Your AGI attribute must be pretty high, but I'm sure you are too exhausted to male use of it." A woman said as she walked out of the forest, along with three men and another woman, and Xavier gritted his teeth.
