In the latter half of the night, unable to fall back asleep, Arlo Seys turned on the light and sat at his desk in the study, busily working on his tasks.
These past few years, in order to forget that person, to forget those three words, his life has been consumed by work alone, as if only by staying busy can he avoid having spare time to think about other things.
Without realizing, he worked until dawn.
Arlo Seys went downstairs to eat the breakfast prepared by the servant and raised his wrist to check the date on his watch.
Today is the weekend.
After breakfast, Arlo Seys drove to the old meeting place with his brothers, the 'Royal One' KTV.
Arlo Seys arrived effortlessly at the private room usually chosen for gatherings, and when he got there, it was already full.
Seeing him enter, everyone stopped what they were doing. Even the two men fiercely singing a duet of 'Summer Breeze' stopped and looked at Arlo Seys, calling out simultaneously and warmly, "Arlo & Boss."
Arlo Seys responded coolly with a hum and sat down directly.
In the room, besides Nico Haynes and Dawn Sutherland, who were his good brothers, the other few men were not unfamiliar but not too familiar either. They were all descendants of distinguished families in the business circle, commonly known as second-generation wealthy individuals.
As soon as Arlo Seys sat down, these people respectfully called him "Young Master Seys."
Arlo Seys nodded indifferently, then leaned back against the leather sofa, tapping his long, fair fingers on his leg idly. He sat there casually and quiet, yet elegantly, attractive like a person from a painting, drawing eyes to him.
Some rich kids in attendance sighed secretly, thinking it was unfair. God gave Arlo Seys such striking looks and a prominent family background, making it hard for them to live!
Arlo Seys's paternal family was in politics, his maternal family in business, and the two sides combined, one being a powerful name in politics and the other a distinguished family in the business world. From birth, Arlo Seys was a favored child, truly born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
Yet Arlo Seys never let these halos or gimmicks matter to him. Fearless like a newborn calf that fears no tiger, he took the startup fund from his family and began his own entrepreneurial journey, establishing Era Group.
In just two short years, he repaid the startup capital to his family with interest. After that, Era Group soared step by step, and insiders always praised Arlo Seys when mentioned: youth to be admired, the waves of the Yangtze pushing forward.
Nico Haynes and Dawn Sutherland kept on singing heartily, while the others didn't stay idle, chatting on the sofas with interest.
"Hey, did you hear? Young Miss Morris has returned." Someone said leisurely while sipping beer.
"Which Morris Family?" Someone responded and asked.
"Which other Morris Family could it be? It's the Morris Clan Group that was about to go bankrupt eight years ago but miraculously revived!" The first person replied.
His words sparked interest among the other rich kids, who gathered around to join the conversation.
"Oh, I remember now! Speaking of which, wasn't the Morris Family's young lady always in the country?"
"You're really out of touch! That was the second young lady of the Morris Family! The Morris Family also has a modest young miss, but compared to the second young lady, this young miss has rarely appeared in public! It's said she has been abroad all along."
"Hey, you know so much about the Morris Family, you wouldn't happen to be interested in the young miss... that way, would you?" The others laughed mischievously.
The person who initially revealed the news cursed at the giggling group and said, "Who cares about the Morris Family! I'm interested in the Morris Clan's stock! Waiting for it to hit rock bottom! Then I'll hit hard and buy! This time, the Morris Clan might not escape the fate from eight years ago, I bet it will fall within this year!"
...
Their discussion clearly reached the ears of Arlo Seys, quietly sitting on the other side of the sofa. On the surface, Arlo Seys seemed calm and undisturbed, but his heart suddenly jumped, not too light or heavy, yet particularly clear.
In his ears and mind, their topic of conversation echoed like an enchantment:
Young Miss Morris has returned to the country…
