Chapter 64: Rewards
~Third POV~
[Kanto Region, Next Day, Saffron City]
The next day dawns, with the citizens of Pallet Town safe, the members of Team Rocket apprehended, their elite agents underneath the collapsed Silph Co. building, and the Pokémon they used all confiscated. While taking everyone out, Prof. Oak, being carried by Blue, said happily, "Thank goodness everyone is safe and sound."
The Good Gym Leaders nodded with Erika leading them as she said happily, "No one slipped through our barricade. The three leaders and their boss are all beneath that collapsed building."
Brock added with his arms crossed, revealing a smirk as he stated, "We've retrieved all the Pokémon they were using."
Misty smirked as she waved her finger, adding in a hopeful tone, "With proper training, they'll all become wonderful Pokémon."
Hearing this information, Azure went forward, asking Misty and Brock curiously, "Wait? If you guys are training them, then you don't mind me taking some for my team?"
Both the Gym Leaders looked thinking it over till Erika gave his answer in a happy tone, bowing her head slightly, "Then be our guest. You, Red, Blue, and the girl helped defeat Team Rocket. If any trainer is willing to take them to become wonderful Pokémon, then it'll be you. Please, I'll show you."
Azure smirked as Erika led him to where the confiscated Pokémon were located. Red, meanwhile, is surprised to find Green gone as he muttered, "Huh? Where's Green?"
Green, who is lamenting her failure from behind a nearby tree, expresses her irritation at the presence of Professor Oak as she mumbles in a frustrated tone, "So much for my big plans… What's he doing here?! If it weren't for Azure and his Pikachu, I would've gotten that new Pokémon! The nerve of that boy!!"
As Blue turns to leave, he tells Red that he'll be looking forward to seeing him in a confident tone, "Red… I'm looking forward to meeting you at the Indigo Plateau in the next few days. I hope you won't become an embarrassment."
Red eagerly accepts the challenge, grinning as he casually shoots back, "Same here, Blue! Better not lose when we finally throw down!"
As the two confirmed their rivalry, an old woman who was standing outside the ruins of the collapsed Silph Co. building, marveling at its thorough destruction, muttered, "Whoo… they really demolished this place. So, this is what the once mighty Silph Co. comes to… like they say, the bigger they are… the bigger they fall."
*Tk*
*Klak-ak*
Shifting through the remains with her cane, she smiles to herself as she finds the sliced Pokémon Badge Energy Amplifier, as she grins, laughing sinisterly, "Heh! Heh! Heh! Well… I guess it always pays to check! Despite being damaged, it's an easy fix for someone as knowledgeable as I, Agatha of the Elite Four."
Agatha, recovering the destroyed device, intends to repair it as the fate of the Yellow Arc has been set in stone. Azure is unaware that despite thwarting Team Rocket's plans, fate always finds a way to restore itself…

~Azure S. POV~
[Kanto Region, Later, Viridian City]
After leaving Saffron City, I made my way to Viridian City as my next stop. Currently, I'm riding on Dragonair using Fly with Pikachu perched over my shoulder, enjoying the ride through the sky.
Eevee is huddled in my hood, cutely peeking her head over from the sky. But it took some time seeing the Pokémon that the Good Gym Leaders confiscated, I smirked, getting some new Pokémon added to my rotation.
Looking over my Arc Phone, I checked the newest Pokémon I've obtained, along with bios for them each. They are very helpful due to their ability, nature, versatility, or all, as I observed their Status.
|Name: Abra (Psi Pokémon)
|Type: Psychic
|Level: 5
|Gender: Male
|Held Item: None
|Ability: Magic Guard (Hidden Ability)
|Nature: Timid
|Moves: Teleport, Shadow Ball (TM), Protect (TM), Confusion (EM) (2 Moves left to learn)
[Abra the Psi Pokémon. Abra can sense danger through a telepathic radar. When it does, it teleports to a safe location. However, it sometimes becomes panicked if it wakes up in an unknown location. By hypnotizing itself, Abra can teleport even while sleeping. It can use other extrasensory abilities while sleeping as well, and can even teleport into the treetops to pick and eat Berries.
The deeper Abra sleeps, the farther it teleports. Due to the strain of its telepathic powers, however, Abra sleeps 18 hours each day. If it fails to rest long enough, it will become unable to use its powers. The contents of Abra's dream can affect its powers. Abra lives in urban areas but has been observed to teleport to a different location once per hour. If it teleports randomly, it can create illusory copies.]
|Name: Chansey (Egg Pokémon)
|Type: Normal
|Level: 28
|Gender: Female
|Held Item: None
|Ability: Healer (Hidden Ability)
|Nature: Calm
|Moves: Growl, Pound, Tail Whip, Refresh, Echoed Voice, Softboiled, Doubleslap, Life Dew, Sing, Fling, Minimize, Sing, Heal Pulse, Aromatherapy, Heal Bell (EM) (1 Moves left to learn)
[Chancy the Egg Pokémon. A kindhearted Pokémon, Chansey, will share its eggs with injured people and Pokémon. However, Chansey will never share its egg with those with evil hearts. The eggs become more delicious if Chansey is raised with love and care. Chansey's egg is used as a high-class cooking ingredient due to the nutrition it has.
As a result, Chansey has been referred to as doctors' doubles because of its eggs. Due to its egg being over-harvested, Chansey is extremely rare in the wild and is said to bring good luck and happiness to those who manage to catch it. Fleeing from those seeking its egg has made this once-slow species much quicker on its feet than in the past.
It is more commonly found in urban settings. Chansey is the only known Pokémon capable of using the Lucky Punch item. If a person or Pokémon is injured, any nearby Chansey will come to check them out and then flee when they're fully healed.]
|Name: Porygon (Virtual Pokémon)
|Type: Normal
|Level: 25
|Gender: Genderless
|Held Item: None
|Ability: Analytic (Hidden Ability)
|Nature: Timid
|Moves: Conversion, Conversion 2, Agility, Sharpen, Magnet Rise, Recover, Swift (TM), Shadow Ball (TM), Psychic (TM), Thunder Bolt (TM), Ice Beam (TM), Gravity (TM), Hyper Beam (TM), Gravity (TM), Solar Beam (TM) (0 Moves to learn left)
[Porygon the Virtual Pokémon. According to its Pokédex entries, it has copy protection built into its code, preventing duplication through electronic means. It was created in 1995 by Silph Co., but documents at Silph Co. claim it was created at the Pokémon Lab on Cinnabar Island using the state-of-the-art technology of its time. Because it was created decades ago, many of its parts have since become obsolete.
It was the first artificial Pokémon to have ever been created through computer programming. In ancient Hisui, people were confused about Porygon and its Evolutions due to them arriving through space-time distortions and being the product of far more advanced technology than what was available at the time.
Due to its man-made origins, Porygon does not need to breathe or eat, though it can still accept food if given. It can convert its body into digital data, allowing it to travel through cyberspace.
Recently, it has become more helpful in cyberspace by searching for any suspicious data that exists. Some believed Porygon has the power to potentially travel in space despite the species not displaying that ability yet. Because it is man-made, it is generally found in computers or in labs and other buildings where people work.]
I smirked, seeing the Pokémon I got from the Team Rocket Grunts. The Abra and Chancy are a nice addition to the roster of options, as these two were probably the easiest I can get on my side willingly.
And the Porygon was a reward from the Silph Co. for helping them get rid of Team Rocket from their building, despite it being in ruins. However, that wasn't the only reward he gave me.
Out of my Sub-Space was a Poke Ball. Not just any Poke Ball, mind you… a Master Ball from the Silph Co. CEO after kicking Team Rocket out of his building. [Observe].
[Item: Master Ball
Rarity Item: S
Type: Poke Ball
Description: The very best Poké Ball with the ultimate level of performance. With it, you will catch any wild Pokémon without fail… to a degree.]
Raising an eyebrow at the description, I couldn't help but be conflicted. It says without fail, but when it said at the end, to a degree, I suppose it means about certain Pokémon that can break out of it.
But once I got enough distance in the air, I told Dragonair to stop as I said, "Good, we can stop here, Dragonair. I gotta keep my end of the bargain."
Dragonair paused mid-flight as she nodded her head. Grabbing the 3 Poke Balls containing the Legendary Bird Trio, I tossed them into the air.
*Pop*
Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno were brought out, flapping their wings. The trio looked at me as I casually dismissed them, "Alright, I've dealt my end of the deal. You three are free to do what you want. Just be sure not to get caught again. Got it?"
*CRACK*
Destroying my Poke Balls, the veil of being under my control through his Gym Badges was lifted. Moltres and Zapdos simply nodded as they left with a short bow, respecting me for the trouble I'd done to help them.
*Fwp*
Both flew away to new territories to conquer and away from human civilization. Articuno looked a bit reluctant before ultimately nodding its head, giving a light bow before flying away into the far distance.
I sighed as I slyly smiled, rubbing Dragonair's neck as I said calmly, "Sigh… I suppose we'll probably meet them in the future, right, guys?"
Dragonair gracefully nodded her head with a soft cry. Pikachu and Eevee both bobbed their heads as we continued to fly freely in Viridian City airspace.
A part of me didn't want us to depart with Articuno looking at me like that. But frankly, even if I did agree, I'm not strong enough to keep it safe.
A memory comes to me that having a powerful Legendary Pokémon like Articuno reminded me of the fate of another Legendary Pokémon Trainer in the Pokémon Adventures. Aster, the former Lorekeeper.
The Pokémon Association and many powerful backers wanted to control Rayquaza. Even killed their Trainer for it. This is a reminder of why I don't want Legendaries.
I don't have the strength to push them off. Till I reach a high enough power, best not to keep them till I know I can defend them. Although returning to Viridian City didn't bring me any sense of comfort.
But it didn't bring me any sense of calmness as I returned to the starting point of my journey around the Kanto Region. It brought me a sense of dread returning to this city… because the leader of Team Rocket is still kicking.
Although my team isn't lacking in the strength department either. They've leveled up greatly, dealing with the waves of Team Rocket Grunts Pokémon, making them easy targets for them to level up.
I checked using me [Observe] to see they're levels. And it made me frown lightly, considering how my current team is strong against Giovanni's rotation.
[Partner Pikachu (M) Lv.50 Mouse Pokémon]
[Dragonair (F) Lv.48 Dragon Pokémon]
[Arcanine (M) Lv.48 Legendary Pokémon]
[Scizor (M) Lv.46 Pincer Pokémon]
[Partner Eevee (F) Lv.45 Evolution Pokémon]
[Gengar (S)(F) Lv.45 Shadow Pokémon]
Despite our progress we've made, I still need to prepare them for the Pokémon League. I must battle Giovanni to see if I have what it takes for my dream and future challenges that I'll face in my journey.
Just even thinking about it brings me some kind of chills down my spine. But whenever I open my eyes, seeing my Pokémon, I just know everything will be alright.
Despite the crazy adventures I've been through and the dangers I've learned. I've grown from each encounter stronger than the next, each filled with the surprise of life, despair, and joy that came with traveling around the Kanto Region.
I've made friends I've only ever dreamed of in fiction. I'm living my inner childhood fantasy that everyone back on earth wished to have experienced at least once in one point of their lives.
*Bdmp*
Feeling my heart race each time I held my Poke Balls. For each battle from the first trainer battle to every Gym battle… and possibly one day my final battle, my heart always beat the same… I'm a Trainer!
Filled with determination, I smirked as I announced to Dragonair proudly, "Before we train for the Pokémon League, there's one Gym Leader left to battle. Supposedly, the strongest out of all the Gym Leaders we fought. The Self-Proclaimed Strongest Trainer, Giovanni, the Master of the Earth."
Their eyes widened, and their ears perked at the self-proclaimed name. They all slyly grinned, seeing this as the chance to prove that title wrong as we head to the Viridian City Pokémon Center.
Heal up, then battle. After all, if I can't even get all 8 Gym Badges, then it's not worth entering the Pokémon League.
