Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 : An Answer

Walking out of the courtroom with a sombre expression and no excursion the trio hung their heads in distraught, Dalek being the point of concern yet he didn't even know.

The duo Immortals also feared lightly for their heads as neither of them had been beheaded before, but at least there was hope for both of them.

Lucian moved up to Gabriel who just lean on a tree with his head faced downwards, ' I don't usually do this but I am at fault ' he said to himself closing the distance between them speedily.

He placed his left hand on Gabriel's shoulder just for it to get slapped away, Gabriel didn't even bother looking Lucian in the eye before walking away.

" Come on bro, am sorry, I just wanted us to leave that place " he screamed after Gabriel but the young man had already departed through the bushes to an unknown region.

* Hmmm *

He hung his shoulders thinking of how to reconcile with his life long friend, a warm hand held his shoulder, he turned and it was Dalek.

" I will talk to him, you…, well, you go on and do what you have to do, remember you'd need a hundred iron rilacs to get on copper rilac " he advised before jumping away.

* Tsk *

Lucian kicked a stone of his path and quickly advanced to the Western Vakshir, he blended into the greenry of the village which could be found everywhere.

Walking on the streets after what happened wasn't such a good idea, with his naturally abnormal agility he swung from tree top to the next.

This continued till he was out of the northern Vakshir and in the central area, trees weren't in abundance there so he switched to hiding in the shadowy bushes.

Within a few minutes he sat at the steps to his house contemplating whether to go in or not.

He wasn't afraid of what would happen to him but was uncertain of the affect his actions would have caused on Myra.

* Sigh *

Today wasn't just his day.

Taking a bold step to walk in might have been the bravest thing he had done at this point, he turned on the doorknob and pushed it open.

Expecting a punch in the face he felt and saw nothing as his eyes were closed, however he soon felt something wrap around him, it was warm and soft.

Surprise coursed through his body, he expected a punch but received a hug instead, he opened his eyes to see Myra's head on his chest.

" No!!! ", he exclaimed gently pushing her off his body by holding her shoulders, " I am dirty and bloody, let me wash up first " he said smiling at her.

She was dressed in a silk crop top which were fastened by an interlocking group of strings at the back, on her lower half was a tight short which hugged her skin and brought out more of her feminine shape.

' She has been exercising, what a monster ', " I am just as dirty, don't push me away " she said with a pout, " Well your much cleaner shouldn't you be resting " he asked in a concerned tone.

" I should be resting?, * Pft *, with you getting into trouble constantly, thats impossible, well I would be having my bath and preparing for when you'll be ready to answer my questions ".

After saying this she left, Lucian was a bit perturbed by her nonchalance, he knew what type of devil she could become, maybe she just wasn't mad at him and had finally understood that he was doing everything for her.

He grabbed a towel and went out to his backyard, his backyard lead way to a lonely ever misty cursed fresh lake.

Called cursed as whispers of the dead were regularly heard by those who submerged themselves into it's depths, it was directed behind Lucian's house and was just a three minute walk away.

He currently stood at it's banks, watching it's tranquil flow, he ripped off the rages which he wore and walked into the lake step by step till he started swimming.

The mist perfectly hid him from view and retained it's tranquil state, Lucian drifted in a aimlessly upon the surface of the water, enjoying it's tender ripples licking his skin.

Evening was now at it's peak, it's cool breeze danced through the surface of the water, a gentle whisper was heard thereafter saying, ' Fate '.

It was a regular occurrence, even if it wasn't, Lucian wasn't disturbed in the slightest, that was until he felt a small pair of he hands grab his head by the temples and dragged him underneath it.

He was perplexed, he was sure he could survive being sliced or pierced, but drowning, choking and being beheaded,he wasn't so sure he could survive.

The grip strength of the hands were strong, maybe too strong for the average human, yet he showed minimal effort of fighting, seconds later he was left and floated back to the top.

Another thing followed him, probably the one which tried to drown him, " Do you ever get scared of dieing " an alluring female voice said, a voice he would recognize even at the point of death.

" Those who kill shall die " he said turning his gaze to Myra, " Is that why you tried to drown me? ", " You survived being nearly separated from your lower half, like you were only attached by a few strings of flesh and thick blood " she said.

" And the most shocking part was that you regenerated for that in the space of a single night, thats insane " Myra added, " And I looked like a vampire for more than a week, well am sure you could survive that " he chirped.

" Don't tease me " she said hitting Lucian on the nose and submerging her self fully into the water, Lucian rose from his lying position in order to get his revenge.

He floated calmly, turning at regular intervals, and within seconds he found her in a distance, ' How would I forget that she's a jungle survival expert ' he said.

Unlike Lucian who was locked up a trained to be the most skillful creature on the planet, Myra on the other hand was lived in a jungle and learned how to survive in the depths of the wilderness.

Swimming was child's play to her, Lucian hit the water in her direction causing a wave to go after her.

She ducked under the water but the current created was too strong, she had to swim around it, nevertheless that was in vain as another wave arrived.

It took her completely and pushed her in a U turn heading straight for Lucian, how he did it was nothing short of magic, in an instant she was in his arms, her back leaning on his chest.

" Did you really think you could get away from me " he said with a romantic smile on his face, she turned to face him, her visage currently unreadable.

" I haven't had the courage to ask but what are you? " She asked.

His smile got wider and more deliberate, " It's a secret you would soon learn, but know, I am not human ".

"Do you remember," Myra asked, her voice hushed now, "when we bled amidst the flames of the Dyam forest and swore to never part?"

Lucian dropped his smile slightly. "I remember everything."

The mist thickened around them, cloaking them from the world. Lucian moved closer, brushing a strand of wet hair from her cheek. Her skin was cold as marble.

"You've changed," he murmured.

"So have you." Her eyes searched his, bright as dying stars. " I hope I'll never lose you "

"I shall transcend the domain of death, finding a way back to your warm embrace."

Her breath caught. "Lucian…"

He leaned in, his forehead against hers, the lake lapping around them like the whisper of lost souls.

"I just wish I could give you a better life" he said, voice rough. ." One were you wouldn't have to fight to survive ", he said, their lips slowly enclosing on each other.

Their lips met—a kiss that was not soft, not gentle, but hungry, aching, and laced with unforseen sorrow. the ripples of the water pulsed like a heartbeat.

Above, the clouds parted for just a moment. The first moonlight fell on them both, and for a breath of time, they looked less like lovers, and more like souls forged to be together.
