Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 08 - THOSE WHO MAKE DECISIONS AND THOSE WHO FOLLOW IT

"This point then this point and the point next to it, we can focus on those three first. If it feels like everything won't make it in time, at least it's enough."

"Can you still do it?"

"It does require more Energy but it's okay, I can handle it."

While drawing several points on the ground, with a rough outline of the surface of the large forest, Gampa who was beside me clutched his mouth, while looking down intensely.

I started drawing other points and explained more details to Gampa, sometimes he also gave suggestions based on his experience as an observer for some time in certain areas.

Thanks to that, I revised some decisions and relocated other points that were more ideal.

In between those conversations, it would be a lie if I never doubted every decision that was made.

Will this work? I don't know, I can only hope for the better with that.

Will something happen outside of the calculations? Of course, after all we're not that great that we can predict everything.

What if the plan fails? Then prepare another plan to anticipate it.

I don't have to avoid such negative thoughts, because no matter how much they cross my mind, I will find a solution.

What if everyone is killed in the process?

I won't let that happen.

"One in the west, one in the south, and one in the north. If only the wolves stayed in the middle, then at least we could drag them all in." Gampa clicked his tongue, looking at one point with a dissatisfied expression.

"To me, they are more dangerous than the lions, because of the vigilance they have."

"We have never faced them either, every time there is a battle they only observe from behind without providing any assistance."

"What is the reputation of the wolves in this forest?"

"Quite bad, from the start they were not very well-liked."

Lack of desire to cooperate, very high vigilance even towards their comrades, then there is still a lot of information about them that has not been revealed.

One of the external factors that is outside the calculations.

If time wasn't so tight, I would have kidnapped one of them and interrogated them.

But that was a bad choice now.

Gampa and I stopped talking, realizing that the ground was starting to shake with small rocks starting to bounce.

We focused on our hearing, the sound of footsteps accompanied by screams, then the sound of metal clashing, the longer it was heard the clearer it became.

"Fuuhhh~" I blew on the drawing on the ground, erasing it from there.

Gampa stood up following me and we immediately ran into a room.

"Ah, you guys are here, what's next?" Besy was the first to notice our presence, turning her head while pressing something on her hand.

It was Opus, one of the moles we met earlier.

He didn't move at all.

"Is he dead?" I asked curiously.

Besy shook her head, while looking at Delsa.

"No, he was quite noisy earlier so Delsa just put him to sleep."

"I understand…" I looked at Delsa, she just nodded in resignation.

It can't be helped if that's the case.

"Then gather now, we'll separate the groups." Gampa who ignored us, walked over and pushed the others.

According to the plan, we would be divided into two groups.

The first group consisted of me and Oty, we had the task of defending the Great Tree where we were currently standing.

Then the second group consisted of the rest, with Gampa in the lead. Having the task of ensuring everyone could survive.

After making sure everyone understood the outline of the plan once again, we started hugging each other.

"Then I'll go first." Besy, with her face looking unenthusiastic drooped on my shoulder.

I touched the back of her head and stroked it, her ears seemed to relax a little.

"I'll leave the safety of the others to you. Gampa is the leader, but I hope you can guide him."

"I don't think he needs it."

"Is that so? After all, he's our younger sibling, taking care of the younger ones is the main duty of an older sibling, right?"

"…you're right." Besy lifted her face, looking fresher than before.

Besy, Gampa, Delsa, Epi, Zoty, they looked at me, I immediately knew what she meant.

"Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Zeta, prioritize your safety."

"I understand." Besy answered with a smile.

"I know that." Gampa said as he turned away.

"Then see you later." Following Gampa, Delsa also turned her face away.

"Oty, I'm going first."

"Don't bother Alf when we're not around you, okay?"

Epi and Zoty, approached Oty and stroked her head.

"I understand that!!" Oty answered her two older siblings with high spirits.

Not long after, everyone left and it didn't take long until the sound of their footsteps could no longer be heard.

Damn, not even a minute had passed but I already missed them.

As I started to think about something else, a warm sensation came from my right hand.

It was Oty who was holding it tightly, then she hung on, jumped and sat behind my neck.

This kid really has a lot of energy, but maybe that's why I should really pay attention to him and stop thinking about unnecessary things.

Ignoring the many voices that were getting closer, I walked down the roots while carrying Oty, observing everything that happened around me by expanding the area that my Energy Manipulation Technique could reach.

Excluding the underground, I could see everything that was happening within the radius of that Energy. It was like creating a large dome that surrounded you, a technique that I had just been able to use.

It was quite practical, but this technique used up quite a lot of energy, both physical and mental.

That's also why I couldn't use it too often.

After walking and walking, I arrived at the base of the tree, where all sides were filled with roots blooming from the ground. And on each of those roots, there were many animals staring at us.

Dryad led the front row, just silently observing without saying anything.

Beside her, a familiar lion stood and stared at me fiercely.

I put Oty down, patting her head.

"Oty, can you do it now?"

"Yes!!" Oty, excitedly raised both of her hands.

She wasn't depressed at all after seeing this many enemies, I think her potential is greater than mine.

That was indeed one of the many reasons why I brought her.

And for the main reason—

"Weren't you going to face us head-on? What happened to that?" Dryad who had been keeping her mouth shut all this time, started to open the topic.

"What do you mean? Aren't I here?"

"What about the others?"

Although faint, I could hear other footsteps from behind.

There was no need to bother to confirm what was there.

"Of course, they're here too." I pointed to the back, where something was approaching simultaneously.

The Dryad and the animals looked at it, then pushed out their tongues in turn.

"I guess you're going back on your word."

"Didn't I say from the start that everyone would join in the blockade, that was just an assumption you made."

Those walking behind me began to pass me and stopped, creating a distance of about five meters.

Besy, Gampa, Delsa, Epi and Zoty, were all there.

Confirming that, the Dryad moved the bunch of roots on her right arm and created a stick there.

At the tip of the stick, a small ball glowed bright green.

"I see, then this will happen faster than I thought."

With that, she shot a light that immediately flew towards Oty, of course I blocked it.

But with that, the signal for the battle to begin.

The animals that had been quiet all this time, started to jump and run at high speed towards me.
