Chapter 26 - Reunited

Having almost read about a quarter of the book discussing how to survive the wildest in the dark realm, Shaan had begun to understand what Mr. Maximus said about the classification of dark creatures while in the training room.

For the Midnight creatures and Corrupted classes, they usually appeared at the Noctis gate, while the Abominations and Sovereigns classes would appear at the Fullmoon gate. Especially for the Primodials type itself usually only appears at the bloodmoon gate, but in some cases it also appears at the fullmoon gate.

"It also says here that all the creatures of darkness within the dark realm obtain their power source from dark entities." Shaan was silent for a moment. "It feels more or less similar to the seven virtues potion that comes from the light entities."

The book also explains that there were two ways a Daemonist could return to the human world. The first was if the Daemonist defeated the boss that inhabited the portal, or the second was by searching for the Twilight sanctum spread across the dark realm.

'Twilight sanctum? I've never heard of this name before.'

In the book, it is also mentioned that pointing devices such as a compass or something like that would not be useful in the dark realm, caused by the mysterious pressure energy in the dark realm, which causes the navigation system in this place to be unclear. The only way to be able to determine the location of the city in the dark realm was to look up at the stars scattered in the sky. However, that way was quite difficult because not all Daemonists were able to read the stars.

Therefore, most of the twilight of sanctum then installed a large transmitter pole that would emit yellow light when exposed to red moonlight. This was used to make it easier for Daemonists who got lost in the dark realm to find the Twilight sanctum.

'So as long as I see a yellow light when I'm lost inside the dark realm, it's most likely the light emitted by the transmitter pole located in one of the twilights of sanctum.' Shaan nodded his head. 'Alright, I get it now. Another important thing to remember.'

When Shaan was engrossed in reading the next page, suddenly someone tapped him gently on the shoulder from behind. At first, he completely ignored the pat and continued to read the contents of the book, but strangely, the pat returned, and this time it was more intense than before. He finally turned his head back to see who it was.

"Huh? Chel-chelsie?" Shaan rounded his eyes. "What are you doing-"

"Pstt!" The old granny guarding the reading room immediately stared at him with a sharp gaze.

"Oh, yes, I'm sorry." Shaan immediately lowered the volume of his voice. "Chelsie, what are you doing here?"

"I'm looking for books here," Chelsie directed her gaze around the reading room. "I've been looking around this place for almost a few minutes, but I don't seem to -"

"Pstt!" A man who was sitting close to Shaan's position looked at Chelsie with a sardonic gaze. "If you two want to talk, come out and don't disturb the peace of this place. Understand?"

"Uhmm... I'm sorry." Chelsie lowered her head immediately, trying to cover her flushed face.

"Chelsie, I think we should talk outside."

Shaan quickly led Chelsie out of the reading room and then directed her to sit on an empty chair near the entrance of the reading room. "Ah, this is much better. At least when we talk, other people won't be disturbed." Shaan smiled. "So, what do you want to say, Chelsie?

"Uhm... I was in the reading room because I was looking for a book that discusses the crystal shards scattered within the dark realm."

'Crystal Shard?' Shaan stroked his chin gently. 'Yeah, I have heard about that. These crystal shards are objects that can only be found in the dark realm. They come from the bodies of creatures of darkness, and they are of various types. The stronger the creature of darkness that is fought, the more steps the crystal shard will be obtained. The price of crystal shards is also quite expensive if sold in the human world, which is why many people choose to become Daemonists.'

"However, after wandering around for a few minutes in the reading room, I didn't find it at all." Chelsie let out a long sigh. "So... what about you, Shaan? What book are you reading?

"I just read a book called 'The Wildest Survival Methods in the Dark Realm', as recommended by Miss Khaya earlier."

"Oh, wow. That's amazing. I can't believe you read that book at all." Michelin immediately rounded both eyeballs. "Honestly, I never read that book at all. It's too thick and I... I don't like reading books like that. I only know the things that happen from within the dark realm from my father."

"Wait, so your father is a Daemonist?"

Chelsie nodded her head slowly. "Yes. My father is a Daemonist just like us. He always told me that if you get lost in the dark realm, remember to look for the twilight sanctum because it will be your second home."

'I agree. What Chelsie said was indeed true. The twilight sanctum is indeed a second home while inside the dark realm.'

"So, where is your father now?"

Chelsie's face instantly stiffened as Shaan asked that. She immediately gripped the bottom folds of her shirt tightly as if trying to remain calm while answering Shaan's question.

"My father...."

'Beep...beep...beep....'

"Oh God, I forgot something." Chelsie patted her forehead and immediately stood up from the chair. "My rest time is over, and I have to meet with my mentor to continue my training session."

"Oh... okay."

"Well then, goodbye, Shaan. Hopefully we'll meet again somewhere else, and it's been a pleasure talking to you."

"It is nice to talk to you, too."

Chelsie quickly ran down the corridor and disappeared from Shaan's sight not long after. To be honest, Shaan still couldn't shake off the feeling about Chelsie's sudden change in attitude when he asked about her father. For some reason, he felt that Chelsie was deliberately avoiding the topic—almost as if she didn't want to reveal anything about her father's whereabouts. Strange… why was she trying to hide it from him?
