The outpost loomed like a rusted dagger jutting from the earth, its Tower Defense Nexus casting sharp neon flares across the shattered terrain. Its shields pulsed with static aggression. It was one of Nova City's last rogue installations sitting too close to our borders. Intel said they were rebuilding a covert data core. That meant wiping them out...thoroughly.
Our drop skiff hissed low against the cracked stone and came to a hover, dust curling like smoke around us.
Contrario stood beside me on the edge of the skiff's ramp, his eyes fixed ahead. The wind whipped through his jacket, but he didn't flinch. No cocky smile. No jokes.
Just silent focus.
"30 seconds," I said, strapping on my HUD visor and checking my loadout. "We're going in clean. No backup. Fast and hard."
He nodded once, sharp. "Understood. This should be easy."
