"I should've kept my mouth shut."
Eric laughs at those words and flies straight at Henrick. The soldier dodges a haymaker and lands a straight kick on the monster's chest, wincing at the slight pain that shoots up his ankle.
Henrick staggers back and rolls out of the way as four large hands aim to crush his body. Eric's hands slam into the ground, causing the floor to fracture and undulate. The force shakes the platform, rattling the support beams.
Father David helplessly watches as the soldier is forced to dodge every strike with no chance to fight back, his expression sinking after every evasion.
Selene gathers more magical energy once again, this time condensing it into a spear. Henrick unleashes blasts of electricity that are blocked by the barrier around Eric's body, but this leads the monster further away from Selene.
"You fucking fly!!" screams Eric as he redoubles his efforts, purple sapping waves intensifying, draining Henrick's energy. Henrick gasps in exertion as he struggles to keep up.
A stray blow catches the soldier on the ribs and sends him rolling on the floor. "GAAAAH!!" he screams in pain as his ribs fracture at the seemingly casual blow.
Father David panics and moves to unleash a concussive blast, in hopes of distracting Eric. "Don't!" Henrick screams, but it's too late. As soon as the blast reaches Eric, a purple rebound force explodes outwards, sending the priest and Selene flying back towards the elevator doors.
Henrick is sent skidding towards the edge of the viewing platform, strain evident on his face as he fights off the weakening effects of the purple energy.
"Get out of here! Both of you!" Henrick shouts to his companions with a snarl, bursting forward towards Eric. The monster of a man simply chuckles as he turns and aims its glowing purple hand towards David and Selene.
Before he can fire, however, Henrick grabs him from behind in a chokehold. "GO!!" he shouts as he wrenches Eric's head to the side in a burst of strength, forcing him to a knee.
"Henrick, we can't just-" Father David starts but is pulled back by Selene towards the elevator. "He's giving us a chance to live! Let's go!!" she says, dragging the priest with all of her strength as they enter the elevator and leave.
Eric slowly fights back against the soldier's chokehold and gradually picks himself up. "That was a stupid move. You need all the help you can get." he says, mouth dripping with saliva as he fully stands, making Henrick's toes leave the ground.
Henrick slowly loses strength, the purple waves draining him of his energy. His arms are pried off and he's bodily slammed onto the ground, driving the air out of his lungs.
Eric stomps on Henrick's chest, causing the ground to shatter even more as well as making the entire floor subtly start shaking. "AAAHHH!" the soldier screams as the transformed man looks out into the Manhattan skyline, while keeping pressure on Henrick's chest.
"Why do you keep resisting? You're not strong enough. Just let me eat you." Henrick's reply is swift. An electrically charged hammerfist towards Eric's toe that crushes the bones.
Electricity bursts outwards as Eric screams in agony, leaving him unprepared for when Henrick uses his knee to slam into the back of the heavily mutated man's knee. The monster of a man is brought down once more as Henrick stands up, free from the abomination's foot.
Henrick doesn't miss the opportunity. He kicks Eric's face with an electrically enhanced foot, caving in the monster's skull. With a roar, he brings an electrically charged haymaker down on the side of Eric's head.
The monster staggers and grasps its head in pain. This doesn't slow him down, however, and Eric retaliates with an uppercut that sends the soldier slamming into the ceiling. A crater appears where Henrick's head impacted.
A twisted hand then grabs Henrick's throat as he falls, holding him aloft while Eric's skull visibly heals. "Damn that was exciting!! You got anything left?" the monster shouts as Henrick digs his fingers into its wrist.
Thunder booms overhead as the thunderstorm creeps everywhere closer, thick streaks of purple lightning crackling within the clouds.
Hurricane force winds bombard the now open viewing platform as Eric perks up at the dark purple rain that's starting to fall. A grin slowly forms on his face as he starts dancing in his excitement.
Henrick's face contorts in agony as the monster grips his throat even tighter in its jubilation. "I fucKing lovE the thuNderstOrm, doN't yoU?" Eric gurgles out as thick veins of dark purple spread rapidly throughout his skin, mutating his body further.
The soldier is spun around and swung up and down as Eric continues its macabre performance amongst the corpses. Henrick gasps for breath, face turning blue with the lack of oxygen.
Lightning splits the skies as the thunderstorm begins its aerial bombardment. Thick bolts of lightning strike around the empire state building but never at it, making Henrick frown.
"You're...fucking...insane!!" he manages between breaths. The comment makes the monster halt abruptly in its movements, malice and hunger now radiating off of its body.
Eric growls, an inhuman and bestial sound, as he screams into Henrick's face. "yOu mocKinG mE?!?!" This makes the soldier chuckle loudly as he spits blood onto the monster's face. "You sound like a reta-AARGHH!!"
Henrick's insult is cut off as Eric bites down on his right shoulder, drawing blood and easily ripping through flesh. Pleasure appears on Eric's grotesque visage as he takes in the soldier's agony, biting deeper so as to hear more.
In a move that confuses the monster, however, Henrick uses his right hand to press it closer into his shoulder. Eric attempts to pull away, but finds that it's unable to move an inch.
Electricity then explodes from Henrick's body as he violently shocks Eric with the highest amount of voltage that he can produce. "Do you know...what the empire state...looks like?" he whispers as he squeezes every last drop of energy out.
"GRAAAAAHHHH!!!" is the reply as Eric wails in pain at the sudden attack. The soldier then knees him in the balls, a horrific CRACK ringing out at the brutal blow.
The monster's grip goes slack, in favour of cupping its crotch in soul searing agony. "mY...baLls..." Henrick then seamlessly transitions into a chokehold once more, giving out the answer to his own question. "A lightning rod."
A particularly large lightning bolt strikes the tip of the Empire State building, drawn in by the sudden spike of electrical energy due to Henrick's attack. Supercharged energy aggressively spreads downwards, like an executioner's blade coming to collect life.
Henrick sees it in slow motion. He sees the purple lightning arcs slowly surrounding the viewing platform, and how the lightning itself looks like a beast's gaping maw about to devour him.
With a flex of the energy deep in his heart, blood pours out of Henrick's orifices when he agitates the overabundant electrical energy around him as it approaches. With a defiant roar, the entire viewing platform erupts in a massive explosion.
KRAKOOOOOOOM!!!
The electrical explosion completely obliterates the support beams for the 102nd floor. A shockwave bursts outwards, attracting the corrupted with its intensity. Corrupted birds, insects, and humans swarm around the Empire State.
The entire top half of the of the level tilts forward as Henrick lays on the ground next to a carbonised corpse, that is somehow still moving, the flesh visibly regrowing.
"Fucking...cockroach." Henrick rasps, feeling as though all the liquid in his body has evaporated. Dazed and with his equilibrium disturbed, the soldier grabs the regenerating monster and brings him to the edge of the viewing platform.
He looks down at the gathering horde and scowls as he looks down at Eric. "A monster like you deserves to be eaten by other monsters."
The tip of the empire state building tilts dangerously forward, the concrete and metal groaning ominously as it pauses for a second. Henrick then tosses Eric over the edge as the upper portion falls forward.
Without warning, the ground beneath his feet also gives way as it lurches forward, sending the soldier tumbling down the Empire State Building. He watches in mild amusement as the twitching corpse writhes in the air, the pointed tip following just above it.
Thinking that he has nothing left to lose, Henrick dives down and tackles into Eric's rapidly recovering body. "...ba...stard..." the monster spits out as it tries to push the electrical madman away.
Henrick flips their position, with Eric's back facing the falling tip of the Empire State, and kicks the monster's chest with all of his remaining might.
He watches with grim satisfaction as the tip rips into Eric's torso, tearing a hole the size of a water basin into it. Thick dark purple liquid violently spews out of Eric's body and flows into Henrick.
The liquid gives him some semblance of comfort and strength, but the soldier is too battered and weary. He's unable to do anything but fall, and for a while he feels peace.
As the last of his strength leaves him, Henrick registers an impact at his side before unconsciousness takes hold.
"HENRICK!!"
