Eina finished reading the document in her hands and looked up. The first thing she saw was a muscular chest underneath a black T-shirt.
Eina was confused for a moment but instantly regained her composure. She concluded that an adventurer had walked up to her queue.
She looked up to see the man's face, and when she saw it, she was so stunned she almost dropped the documents in her hands, ruining her work. Luckily, her sharpened emotional control saved her. Without showing her true feelings on her face, she regained her composure and flashed a professional smile.
Once she had composed herself, she carefully observed the man in front of her.
Black hair. Handsome face that defeated the God's. Blue eyes that gave off a carefree impression. A dangerous yet attractive smile. A white bandana on his forehead. A white mage robe. All-black T-shirt, pants, and boots. And a unique and beautiful black staff that gave the impression of holding a universe within.
Her first impression of the man was: a strong mage. The reason was the way he carried himself.
"What can I help you with, Mr.?" —Eina
"John. I'm here to register as an adventurer and to learn the important information I need for this profession." —John
"Do you know how to read and write?" Eina asked, taking out a paper from her desk.
"I do." —John
"Fill out this form then," Eina said, handing him the paper and a pen.
The form asked for my name, my Familia, level, and job. Job referred to mage, swordsman, healer, supporter, etc.
There were more fields like age, height, weight, and gender.
In a minute, I finished filling out the entire form.
I handed the form to Eina, and when she read it, a frown appeared on her face, which soon relaxed.
"Mr. John, did you forget to fill in your Familia?" —Eina, with her professional smile.
"No, I haven't joined any Familia yet." —John
"In that case, you'll need to register differently. You see, we have two types of adventurers in the guild. The first are called Scions — adventurers who receive the blessings of the gods and belong to a Familia. Adventurers of this type can register just by filling out this form.
The second are called Echoes — adventurers who haven't received divine blessings and have no Familia. Echoes must take a test to register, and the pass rate is very low. Only five percent of applicants succeed."
Hearing her words, I thought for a moment and asked, "Are there any differences between the two in terms of rules or privileges?"
"None." —Eina
"How do I take the test?" —John
Eina smiled. "I'll take care of the rest. Come back this weekend, exactly at 7 in the morning." —Eina
"Thank you. By the way, do you have any books that list all the active Familia in the world?" —John
"Yes, we do. It's in the guild's library. That book records all active Familia operating in the Old, Given, and New World. Ask the librarian if you want to read it." —Eina
"Thank you, Miss Eina. See you next time." —John
Eina smiled, bidding me goodbye. But before I could walk far, I returned, smiling awkwardly.
"Miss Eina, where is the Guild's library?" —John
Later.
'So this is the Guild Library, huh?' I thought, staring at the massive structure.
At a glance, I immediately noticed something strange. I extended my magic sense to a radius of hundreds of miles, but I couldn't reach the ceiling or walls of the library. I kept extending it—from hundreds of miles to trillions, from trillions to hundreds of thousands of light-years, and then to infinity… true infinity… beyond infinity… to the unknown… to the eternal level unknown… until finally I reached the radius of ???.
Still, I never reached the ceiling or walls. I could see them, but I would never reached them. My strength wasn't enough.
At that moment, I realized this guild was not as simple as I had thought. This must be the effect of the Chaos Sovereignty.
I stepped out of the library to investigate. The results were surprising. The second floor and the lobby area matched their exterior size, just as expected. But the guild's library and basement didn't follow this logic. Both were vast—on the scale of ???.
I wanted to explore the basement more, but my senses didn't have the range. Because of this, I never reached the deepest floors. Entering this part of the guild felt like stepping into another dimension—but it wasn't. The space inside had expanded to ??? without affecting the building's outer size, and the expansion was permanent.
The walls, ceiling, and floor acted as the ends and the container. If they were destroyed, the expanded space would cease to exist. But this was almost impossible, because to destroy them, you would need the power to obliterate the expanded space within—and to do that, you'd need ???-level strength.
During my investigation, I also realized something else: Pantheon was alive, and it was letting me see within. Upon discovering this, I realized its true nature.
The Pantheon building was a member of the Living Constructs, Model: Building. Realizing this, I understood something else—the guild was also under the Chaos Sovereignty. The Living Constructs are a race from the Sovereignty. One of the strongest races.
In the Old and Given World, having a Living Construct on your side indicates a connection to the Chaos Sovereignty—and an unbreakable one at that.
After checking everything, I went outside and looked at Pantheon from the street. It looked normal. The size was what you'd expect from a large-sized building. I tried to peer within using my magic sense—but I couldn't see anything.
I tried again. No success.
I gave up and returned inside. Once inside, I spread my senses again and used an enhancement skill to increase their range. My senses locked onto the basement again. I went deeper and deeper, but eventually, my senses were blocked.
'So everything I've seen in the guild was just the tip of a boundless iceberg—a non-classified area that could be revealed.'
I retracted my senses and went back to the Guild's library.
I walked up to the librarian.
She was a pretty girl too.
"Miss, do you have a book that records all the active Familia in this world?" —John
"We have one. Go to Region 1,777,561,777,123,413,123,777, Section 121, Shelf 122,777,823, Book Number 111." —Librarian
"Thank you, Miss." I thanked the girl and walked off to find the book's location.
While I was walking away, the girl called out.
"Use the teleportation points located at each edge of every section. They'll take you to the general teleportation hub, which will send you to your desired destination!" —Librarian
I gave her a thumbs up in reply.
'The library entrance is just Region 1… So I've got a long way to go, huh.'
In this library, a single section has the scale of ???. Each shelf is ??? long and ??? tall. Some parts of the shelves have doors you can walk through. Every book here is unique. There are even normal-looking books that, when opened, have infinite pages.
I traversed the section edges in search of the teleportation point. After about an hour, I finally found one—and teleported to the next section.
