Chapter 38 - Chapter 35. A shameless entitlement

Benjamin had always known his aunt would come through for him. She was not just family—she was his best friend, the big sister he never had.

He trusted her implicitly and was grateful that she not only supported his relationship with Megyn but actively worked behind the scenes to make it possible. Her devotion to his happiness meant the world to him.

Earlier that day, his father had called to inform him that Megyn was at the Sunset Hospital nurses' quarters—and had even given him the exact room number. When Benjamin later arrived at the office, curiosity got the better of him.

"Dad," he asked, "how do you know Megyn?"

His father smiled knowingly and said, "Son, trust my support. Your happiness and stability are my joy." He added a playful wink.

At that moment, everything clicked. Benjamin realized his father had also played a role in getting Megyn to the city.

"Thank you, Dad," he said, smiling warmly.

This was a new, mischievous side of his father that he hadn't seen before.

"Now go bring your girl home," Mr. Hawi said as he placed a hand on Benjamin's shoulder and guided him toward the door.

As Benjamin walked out, he paused briefly. He wanted to call his aunt and thank her but decided instead to send her a text. Moments later, Doctor Lucia called.

"Benjamin, you know I'd do anything to make you happy. And I truly believe you and Megyn belong together.

But…"

"But…?" Benjamin echoed.

"I didn't do it alone," she admitted. "Your father played the bigger role. He offered jobs and accommodation to both Megyn and her colleague. But Megyn is only there temporarily. We arranged for her to stay for three days until I come."

"What about her father?" Benjamin asked. "He told me to stay away from her—immediately."

"Don't worry. We have her mother's support," she reassured him. "Megyn's on duty too, and she's being paid per diem by Sunset Hospital."

"Thank you so much, my naughty, naughty auntie," Benjamin said, clearly delighted.

"Your father made it appear as if the two nurses and Megyn were accompanying the legislature- the member of parliament of Randi -friend of his who was involved in the accident...Do you remember him?" Dr.. Lucia asked.

"Oh. Yes. I personally airlifted them to Randi." Benjamin remembered.

"He arranged for the patient to be airlifted to Sunset Hospital. He claims the man no longer felt safe in Randi."

"Auntie, this is a sensitive issue. I think it's best we talk more when you arrive in the city. What do you think?"

"I completely agree."

"I'll see you when you visit, then. And please, put in a good word for me with Megyn's father. He was really angry."

"See you soon, Benjie. Don't worry—just go see your girl."

"Right away."

At the nurses' quarters, Benjamin drew the attention of several off-duty nurses who peered curiously from their doors, clearly wondering why the son of the hospital boss was visiting.

"Hello, Benjamin," one of them greeted. She was a brown-skinned girl with long hair. Before he could respond, she walked quickly toward him and extended her hand.

He shook it politely, and she added in a soft tone, "I welcome you to my room for coffee. Will you come in?"

Benjamin didn't respond. Instead, he walked past her and knocked on door number five.

The girl's face fell with visible disappointment. Her expression suggested a challenge, as if to say, "Just wait—I'll get your attention one day."

That moment cemented Benjamin's decision: Megyn should not stay at the quarters. She would be safer and more comfortable in the guest room at their home.

He found the behavior unsettling. To him, the nurses came across as entitled—especially that one.

Benjamin's heart pounded with anticipation. When Megyn opened the door, she looked more beautiful than ever. Her blue knee-length dress, with stylish fringes at the front, accentuated her figure while modestly concealing her cleavage.

Her short hairstyle was slightly altered—the sides appeared trimmed, while the center had soft curls, adding a fresh, stunning edge to her look.

Her joy was indescribable as she fell into his arms. She hadn't known he was still in the country. In her embrace, Benjamin felt at peace.

After a short visit, he returned home to inform his mother about the arrangement and asked for a guest room to be prepared.

"Mum, she'll be staying with us for three days," Benjamin said, spotting his mother relaxing on the veranda. He quickly instructed a maid to ready the guest room next to his.

"I know, my son," Mrs. Hawi replied calmly. She had already been informed by her sister. In fact, her husband had initially wanted Megyn to come directly to their house but had decided to let Benjamin make that choice.

"Mum, there's a nurse at the quarters—she thinks she's irresistibly beautiful and entitled to every man's attention just because she's brown and curvy," Benjamin said, visibly disturbed. "I fear she might mistreat Megyn, so I asked her to stay here instead."

"Why do you think she'd do such a thing? I've never seen our nurses behave that way."

"I wish you'd seen how she ran to greet me—she even invited me in for coffee, fully confident I'd follow her. When I knocked on Megyn's door instead, she gave me a look that was both disappointed and defiant."

They both agreed that Benjamin should not go back to the quarters to fetch Megyn. Instead, Mrs. Hawi called the driver and instructed him to pick up the occupant of room five.

Meanwhile, Benjamin went to a nearby mall to buy Megyn her favorite toiletries—lotion, combs, perfume, and some clothes—to ensure she wouldn't lack anything.

He hadn't returned yet when a black Mercedes-Benz pulled into the compound. The driver stepped out and opened the rear-left door.

Mrs. Hawi eagerly approached, excited to meet Megyn in person for the first time. She had admired her in Benjamin's social media photos and had taken an immediate liking to her.

But she was stunned when a slim, brown-skinned girl with shoulder-length hair stepped out instead. Dressed in a tight-fitting red dress above the knee, she exuded confidence, her smile triumphant, as if she'd just won something.

Mrs. Hawi ignored her cheerful greeting and quietly pulled the driver aside.

"Larry, I asked you to bring the occupant of room five. Where is she?"

"I found Daisy in the room," he explained. "She said she was changing rooms and agreed to come with me immediately."

Suppressing her frustration, Mrs. Hawi instructed both Daisy and the driver to wait on the veranda. A maid brought them sodas and biscuits.

Then, she rushed inside and called her husband.

"Go to the nurses' quarters," she urged him. "Check on Megyn—I suspect something sneaky is going on. Bring her home right away."

She also called Benjamin to inform him of the mix-up and asked him to find out if Megyn was safe.

She then sat down in her living room, saying a prayer and hoping that nothing evil has happened to Megyn - her future daughter-in-law.
