~ With Shisui ~

In the Elemental Nations, both of his Mangekyo eyes had contained the same ability. The ultimate genjutsu that could alter a person's will without them realizing they'd been manipulated. It was the technique that should have made him legendary among the Uchiha, and the power that Danzo had coveted enough to orchestrate his downfall.

Now, while he could still feel that familiar ability residing in his right eye, his left eye contained something entirely different. A new technique that he was more than happy to possess, as it complemented his mastery over the Body Flicker technique in ways that felt almost perfectly designed for his fighting style. The synergy between this new ability and his enhanced speed was just simply remarkable.

According to the Uchiha clan's most sacred texts, these changes matched exactly what the stone tablets described about the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. Not only would achieving that legendary state halt the progressive degradation that plagued normal Mangekyo users, but it would restore the eyes to perfect condition and potentially grant entirely new abilities. The emergence of a different technique in one eye while the other retained its original power was specifically mentioned as a possible manifestation of the eternal evolution.

This was the strongest indication that he now possessed a version of the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan as when he looked upon his own reflection, he realized that his Mangekyo still spotted the same design.

The how and why remained mysteries that he could only speculate about. But he was increasingly certain that the answer lay with the being that had sent him to Earthland in the first place. That entity had demonstrated powers beyond anything Shisui had encountered in either world, capable of transporting him across dimensional barriers and depositing him in an entirely different reality.

Perhaps the being had made additional modifications to ensure his survival and effectiveness in this new environment. After all, Shisui was the only Uchiha in Earthland, with no access to the traditional methods for achieving eternal vision. Maybe unrestricted access to his clan's ultimate techniques had been granted as compensation for that isolation.

From the entity's perspective, the entertainment value would certainly be significant. Watching someone with unrestricted Mangekyo abilities navigate a world where beings like Acnologia existed could prove quite amusing.

By his own careful assessment, Shisui believed he had reached a level of strength that would put him on the same levels with the legendary figures from his original world. The Fourth Hokage, with all his speed and tactical brilliance, would no longer hold an overwhelming advantage. Even the Third Hokage in his prime, wielding the full breadth of Konoha's techniques with masterful skill, would find Shisui a challenging opponent rather than an outmatched subordinate.

The only shinobi he believed might still pose serious challenges were the two Gods of the Warring States era. Hashirama Senju, with his Wood Release and seemingly inexhaustible chakra reserves, and Madara Uchiha, whose combination of Sharingan mastery and raw power had once rivalled the First Hokage himself. Perhaps Tobirama Senju as well, given his genius for creating techniques and his mastery of space-time ninjutsu.

But even legendary figures like Hanzo the Salamander, who had once forced the three Sannin to work together just to survive their encounter with him, no longer seemed like insurmountable obstacles.

The growth he'd achieved during these six months had elevated him into truly elite territory.

Shaking off his thoughts about power comparisons and legendary shinobi, Shisui returned his attention to the immediate task. Speculation about his growth could wait. Right now, he had a dead valley to investigate.

He activated his Sharingan, the three tomoe spinning briefly before evolving into the distinctive pattern of his Mangekyo. The enhanced perception immediately revealed details about the valley that normal vision couldn't detect, though the corruption in the ambient Ethernano remained as disturbing as ever. That wrongness still remained elusive to him, even with his evolved dojutsu active.

Not long after, a green aura began radiating from his body. The spectral energy gathered and condensed, taking shape around him as the initial stages of his ultimate defence manifested. The distinctive ribcage of his Susanoo formed with him at its centre, the translucent bone structure glowing.

Although Shisui believed he would probably be fine entering the dead valley without his Susanoo's additional protection, he also recognized the wisdom of taking extra precautions when venturing into unknown territory that looked this suspicious.

The ribcage mode of his Susanoo had proven adequate for most defensive situations he'd encountered during his training. While he could manifest more complete forms if necessary, the basic skeletal structure provided substantial protection while consuming relatively little chakra. For initial exploration of potentially dangerous territory, it represented the ideal balance between safety and resource conservation.

Satisfied with his preparations, Shisui took a deliberate step forward toward the boundary between life and death.

The moment he tried to cross the threshold, it felt like walking directly into a brick wall. The resistance was immediate and absolute, stopping his forward progress as effectively as if the Hokage Mountain had materialized in front of him.

Even with his Susanoo's protection, something was actively preventing him from entering the dead valley.

The discovery surprised him completely. During his previous visit six months ago, he'd been turned away by overwhelming instinctual terror rather than physical barriers. His survival instincts had screamed warnings about approaching the valley, but nothing had actually blocked his movement. The fact that something now actively prevented entry suggested either a change in the valley's defences or his increased sensitivity to magical phenomena he'd been unable to detect before.

He remained standing at the boundary, testing the resistance with gentle pressure while trying to understand what he was encountering. The barrier felt solid but not quite physical, like pressing against invisible force rather than actual matter. His enhanced perception could detect energy patterns, but they were unlike anything in his experience with either chakra-based techniques or Ethernano manipulation.

It wasn't until he looked up that realization struck him with startling clarity.

Script Magic. Or at least, something remarkably similar to the magical writing system he'd encountered throughout his years in Earthland. But this formation looked completely unlike any other script magic he'd seen, and he'd witnessed plenty of variations during his travels. Guild mages, independent researchers, even dark guild practitioners had all used script magic in his presence at various points.

Yet this was different. The symbols and patterns spread across the air above the valley reminded him powerfully of the sealing formulas used by the Uzumaki clan back in the Elemental Nations. Specifically, they resembled the large-scale sealing arrays that the clan had been famous for creating, the kind of massive constructions used to contain tailed beasts or seal away dangerous artifacts.

Taking a more careful look around the valley's perimeter, Shisui observed that the script magic extended far beyond what he could see. The formation appeared to encompass the entire dead valley, creating a barrier that surrounded whatever lay within those ancient ruins.

'The scale of such a barrier would have required enormous resources and tremendous skill to create…' Shisui found himself lamenting his lack of natural talent in fuinjutsu.

He could create basic seals without difficulty, storage scrolls and explosive tags were well within his capabilities. But this complicated sealing array was far beyond his current understanding.

The complexity of the formation suggested it had been designed to contain something specific and dangerous. Simple protective barriers didn't require such elaborate formations or the kind of power investment this array clearly represented. Whatever lay within the dead valley was considered threatening enough to justify this level of containment.

It was at this point that a memory struck him with uncomfortable clarity.

"Seals…" he whispered, remembering the words of the demon that had called itself Nihilora during their encounter two years ago.
