Bored, he opens the car door and heads into the hotel. His eyes scan the tables until they land on Kyle, seated at a round table with a group of well-dressed men.
He quietly slips into a table just behind them. With his sharp wolf-hearing, he tunes into the conversation.
"It's just for a month, Mr. Lockwood sir," one man says casually. "The conference lasts literally three weeks, and then you can leave this city you hate so much,, for reasons only you know."
"I never said I hate it," Kyle replies dryly. "I just said I don't want to be here. That's it."
"No one asked you to be the best in the company," another man jokes. "Now you're stuck representing it because of that. Come on, why make a fuss about it? We'll be out of here before you know it. The conference starts Monday at 8 a.m., so you can rest all you want until then. And... Instead of a hotel, we rented you a one-bedroom apartment... mr. CEO's order. You're all set. Here's the key and the address."
