"Mr. Levy, can't we cancel the meeting with Mr. Elmer? I-I..." I repeatedly asked for the same thing. However, Mr. Levy ignored my requests and continued driving the vehicle. Tabitha had been in touch, but I didn't know what to say.
I just discovered that Tabitha was the daughter of an alpha she-wolf and a beta male wolf. She had good agility and was reportedly one of the trainers at the training next Wednesday. So, when she kept calling and asking for clarity on my whereabouts, I couldn't help but answer calmly, even though my heart kept rumbling.
The reason? Of course, it was because a beta she-wolf who insisted on knowing my whereabouts kept contacting me like a possessive lover while I was in a car with a man, an alpha, who was just as stubborn, so it took a lot of effort to calm them down.
"Turn off your cell phone, and don't say anything to your chatty friend. She's been calling me ever since," Mr. Levy said firmly. However, I kept getting text messages on my phone saying I shouldn't turn my phone off.
Tabitha seemed to want to be able to keep an eye on me and make sure I was okay, but I didn't tell her anything about Dexton and what I was going through. I wasn't ready to tell her everything even though she had declared herself my best friend. That was what happened. She really treated me well today.
"But, sir–"
Ciiit!!!
Mr. Levy stopped the car abruptly, grabbed my phone, and typed something impatiently before deactivating it.
"What did you say to her, sir?"
"She should call my number if she's really worried about you. For now, I don't want any interference with our work. Remember, Shenna, Dexton is a client for whom you have to be smart to find a way to keep him out of trouble. I don't want you to cause trouble, so he makes another rash decision. Do you understand?"
"But what if he acts indecently toward me?"
Mr. Levy turned his head and looked at me sharply. My heart felt like it was about to burst at the sight of his gaze, which seemed to be trying to knock my heart out. Was I wrong to ask such a question? Didn't Mr. Levy ask me to reject Dexton, which meant he didn't want me to have anything to do with that man? Why now...
"You're very confusing," I muttered, causing him to squint. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to—alright, I'll go see him."
"Why did you change your mind before I even commented?" He grabbed my wrist and gripped it. "You haven't forgotten my words, have you? Never flinch or doubt anything. Don't let your enemies see your weakness, Shenna Foxx. Especially Dexton."
"So, what should I do? You're asking me to reject him but still insisting I meet and negotiate with her again. This is really confusing."
"We'll make him accept all your ideas, Shenna."
"Wh-what? What should I do?"
"Let him tease you, but stay on your guard. Don't forget that I will protect you even if you don't see me there."
"B-but–" Why did he change his mind and seem to make me bait for his business continuity and smooth running? Was this how Mr. Levy did the business? However, this was the law. Whoever didn't uphold the truth in law, then he would never have to do the right thing.
"Hey... you trust me, right?" His words made me, who had been lost in thought, flinch. Again, he gave me a deep look that successfully made me have trouble swallowing saliva, even just breathing.
What kind of feeling was this? Why was it that just by looking at Mr. Levy, my heart seemed to plummet and pierce the center of the earth? Had I become stupid now?
"Shenna, tell me if you're going to do this." I stupidly nodded, and soon, he drove his sports car and arrived at a familiar skyscraper from long ago.
Who else owned it, if not the famous Elmer family? Aside from his father's position as one of the most powerful alphas, seven or even dozens of descendants had never exhausted their wealth. And luckily, Dexton was the only son who would inherit the entire fortune. It was only natural that he would end up having a demonic demeanor because he felt that wealth and a throne would save him from karma.
Dexton's assistant let me in hastily. She said that there was a guest in the man's room, but she had the same interest as me—to mediate. Good. So that jet-black-haired woman, whose name I always forgot to ask, had thought about what I said the other day. That way, Mr. Levy would no longer force me to meet Dexton, and this would be the end of my meetings with him.
I stepped inside, suddenly hearing a strange sound that I thought was just me. The incident where I caught Gerald making love to a woman with horse-like sighs and moans made me always think that I must have PTSD to hear that woman's disgusting moaning noises everywhere, even in this room. However, I was wrong.
No wonder I'd been feeling all over the place. There was unbearable anxiety as soon as I set foot in that room.
The door to the secret room in Dexton's office was wide open, where I had to witness a disgusting scene between Dexton and a jet-black-haired woman who was supposedly his business rival and whom I had thought had considered through our deal just a few minutes ago. Apparently, this was...
I turned around and was about to walk away. Still, the deep, heavy baritone voice, in between sighs that made my hair stand on end, called my name with a persuasive line that made me stop in my tracks and unconsciously turn my body to face them, watching his movement to the woman, but with my stomach churning and on the verge of vomiting.
"Come here, Baby Foxy. I don't mind you joining me here. It's delicious, and you'll never think of turning me down once you have tasted it. By the way, is that red thread still tied around your wrist? Good. That means the Moon Goddess will never grant your refusal. So, are you ready for our ritual so I can mark you immediately?"
