Kyouko pulled the car to a smooth stop by the side of the road, the gravel crunching under her tires. Haruki's seaside house stood just ahead.
She smiled faintly and picked up her phone.
Tapping on Haruki's new number, she held it to her ear.
Ring…
"Hello?"
"Haruki~" she said sweetly. "Let's go. I'm in front of the house."
There was a pause.
"Why didn't you come in?" he asked, confused but already moving.
"If I come in~" her voice dropped into a soft, teasing lilt, "I'm sure you'll eat me with your big boy~"
A low laugh came from the other side of the line.
"…Alright. Coming."
She ended the call and smiled to herself, adjusting the mirror.
And as she waited for the door to open, a soft breeze brushed through her hair, catching the edge of her light dress.
She was happy.
Sitting there in the car, fingers still holding her phone, Kyouko smiled quietly to herself.
Now she had it.
His new number.
His social media account.
His LINE ID.
A small but precious thing.
