Inside the Study Room...
Jai was speaking to a client over the phone when Aman walked in.
"You called me?" Aman asked.
Jai gestured for him to sit. Aman took the chair nearby. As soon as Jai ended the call, he sat opposite Aman and asked calmly,
"Aman, is everything okay between you and Shaanti?"
Aman nodded without hesitation, "Yes, everything's good. Why do you ask? Did someone say something to you?"
Jai replied, "No, no one said anything."
Then, pausing for a moment, Jai looked straight at Aman and asked,
"Aman, don't take this the wrong way, but… do you and Shaanti actually share a husband-wife relationship?"
Aman blinked in confusion. "Who told you that we don't?"
Jai responded honestly, "No one. I overheard a conversation between Shivani and Shaanti... and then he told Aman everything he had heard.
Aman's expression turned to shock. "Why would Shaanti say such a thing? I sleep beside her every night—hold her close. Then how could she say something like that?"
Jai leaned forward slightly, his tone turning serious. "Do you do anything else… besides just sleeping next to her? I mean…"
Before Jai could finish, Aman interrupted innocently, "I go to the room, hug her, and sleep. That's it."
Jai looked up at the ceiling, muttering in disbelief, "Aunty, what did you feed this boy while raising him? He doesn't even know how babies are made."
(Truthfully, it wasn't Aman's fault. He had always been around nerdy, academic kids. His subjects were purely business-related, and he only used his phone for calls or professional matters. He knew nothing about sex or even periods. He was completely naïve. Let's see what happened next.)
Aman noticed Jai staring up. "What are you looking at?"
"Nothing," Jai muttered. Then he opened Google, searched for a certain video, and handed the phone to Aman.
Aman watched the video for a moment. His hands trembled. He shoved the phone back to Jai in panic.
"What the hell? What kind of dirty stuff are you showing me?!"
Jai sighed deeply. "This is what happens between a husband and a wife. That's how babies are born."
"You're lying!" Aman stammered. "You're just jealous because Shaanti loves me and not you. You want us to get divorced, don't you?"
"Idiot!" Jai snapped. "If you don't do this, I swear you will get divorced."
Jai then explained everything again, step by step. Aman hesitated, still unsure.
"Are you telling the truth? Or are you just trying to mess with me?" Aman asked, narrowing his eyes. "If I get divorced, I'll make sure you get divorced too!"
Jai was furious now. "Stop talking nonsense!"
He took a breath and explained once more, patiently this time. Slowly, things began to click in Aman's mind.

That Night – In Aman and Shaanti's Bedroom
Shaanti lay on the bed as usual. Aman entered, and like every night, slid in beside her. But this time, he held her in his arms and kissed her lips gently—then deeply. The kiss lasted for nearly five minutes.
Shaanti was stunned by this sudden change in him.
Aman began kissing her neck. As his lips moved down, his hands roamed across her body.
Soon, their clothes ended up scattered on the floor.
Aman merged into Shaanti completely.
The room echoed with her soft moans.
For the first time, Aman experienced a different kind of closeness—intense, overwhelming, and real.
An hour later, Shaanti lay with her head resting on Aman's chest, her eyes closed.
Aman kissed her forehead tenderly.
From that day on, Aman and Shaanti shared intimate nights regularly.
---
A Week Later
Shaanti was walking toward Shivani's room when suddenly she felt dizzy and collapsed just outside the door.
Hearing the sound, Shivani rushed out and found her unconscious. She screamed for help.
Hearing Shivani's cries, both Jai and Aman came running from the study room.
Aman panicked at the sight and rushed to lift Shaanti in his arms. He carried her to their bedroom and gently laid her on the bed.
Jai quickly called the doctor.
A few minutes later, a lady doctor arrived. The house help guided her to Aman's room. She examined Shaanti, then smiled warmly and turned to Aman.
"Congratulations, Mr. Aman. Your wife is pregnant."
Everyone's face lit up with joy. But Aman's happiness was something else entirely—radiant and pure.
---
Five Weeks Later
Shivani's pregnancy had entered the sixth month. Her baby bump was clearly visible now.
After dropping Aditya off at school, Jai took Shivani to the hospital for her monthly check-up.

At the Bungalow…
Aman was working on his laptop while Shaanti went to the bathroom. A lot of time passed, and she still didn't return. Worried, Aman approached the bathroom door and knocked.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
A faint voice came from inside—but it was too weak.
Worried now, Aman kicked the door open.
Inside, Shaanti lay on the floor, clutching her stomach tightly, her face twisted in pain.
She looked up at Aman and whispered, "It hurts… a lot…"
She had just entered the bathroom when she was struck with intense, stabbing pain. At first, she thought it was normal—but it kept worsening.
It was different, and terrifying.
Aman's expression turned grave. Without wasting a second, he lifted her into his arms and carried her to the bed. He immediately called the doctor.
---
A Little While Later
The doctor stepped out of the room, her face troubled.
Before she could say anything, Aman asked anxiously,
"Doctor, how is Shaanti? Is she okay?"
The doctor took a deep breath. "Mr. Aman, I performed surgery. Your wife had an ectopic pregnancy. The fetus was growing in the fallopian tube. Thankfully, we were able to save the tube… but this kind of pregnancy can't continue. The baby couldn't be saved."
Aman clenched his fist and bowed his head, his eyes closing tightly. Silent tears streamed down his cheeks.
---
Back Inside the Room
Aman stepped in. Shaanti looked pale, lying weakly on the bed. Hearing the door, she turned her head.
She whispered, "Our baby…"
Aman held her hand gently, not letting go. "It's okay," he said softly. "We'll try again… but right now, you need rest. Just take care of yourself."
Shaanti froze for a moment.
She couldn't believe it.
She had lost her baby.
And her heart was quietly breaking.
