He might just have slightly expected Camilla to question him about what happened when she called, but that doesn't mean he didn't have a plan to lie his way out.
Of course, Jayden was one of the best living liars in the world, and he acknowledged himself for that.
Jayden reacted to her question by smiling awkwardly, scratching the back of his head.
"Ah… that," he sighed softly. "Honestly, it's not what it sounded like. That was Bella... She's my cousin. She always calls me that to mess with me. It's kind of an inside joke from a while back. My ex used to call me 'babe' all the time, and Bella never let it go."
Jayden wrapped it up with a chuckle.
"Ohh," Camilla hesitated before nodding. "Never thought you had a cousin. But it's cool... Trust me, I'm not being jealous or anything. It just got weird the way you reacted when she called you by that name. Was just curious," Camilla replied, her face softening.
