"Baby, come on," Sophie urged, tugging on Lillian's hand as both of them stepped out of the club. "You can't keep me hanging like this."
Before Lillian could reply, a hostile, mocking voice sliced through the night.
"Look at who this is- Chen Family's joke."
Standing in the shadows was a tall figure, face twisted in derision.
"After everything you did, I didn't think you would have a face to show here."
Lillian raised her head. Her dark eyes narrowed coldly at the man standing in front of her.
Noah Gu.
The mad dog.
He was named the mad dog tamed by Eva Chen.
The second male lead that lived and died for her.
The man who worshipped the grounds Eva walked on.
Lillian sneered inside with disgust.
If a dog acted too rabid, it should be euthanised lest it hurt people.
Eva's meeting with Noah was before she entered the Chen Family. She happened to rescue him and hide him from his pursuers when he was badly attacked.
She took care of his wounds and nursed him back to health personally. Ever since then, he vowed to bow his head down to only her, becoming her loyal hound who attacked everyone she pointed to.
Eva and Ethan sat on their high and mighty chairs, never taking actions themselves. Instead, they instigated Noah to deal with Lillian for them.
Although Lillian mentally strengthened herself, there was a revulsion and nausea erupting inside her thinking about all the harm he did to her.
His methods were cruel. He blinded and broke her legs, crippling her, and left her to crawl around in a deserted forest helplessly in order to fend for herself. Only she knew how she came alive out of it.
"Don't get so smart here when the only thing you did in your life was asslick a pretentious bitch. What? Was her body so good that you have to bark everywhere like a retarded dog? So, how did it feel? Let us know as well. I mean, she should be pretty experienced in bed to wrap the men around her finger with her delicate face," Sophie snapped- her tongue being smooth as ever.
Noah's jaw clenched tightly. His eyes reddened in anger, and veins popped off, about to burst any second. He wasn't willing to accept any insults against Eva.
Lillian felt helpless towards her friend.
She wished Sophie wouldn't go around provoking everyone with her mouth and live a cautious life. As for a pest like Noah, Lillian was enough to handle him.
"A whore and a dog." Sophie, unfazed, smirked, leaning forward. "What a fucking match."
People nearby had begun to stare, sensing the escalation.
Noah's fury reached its peak. His hand shot up—fist swinging toward Sophie's face. But before he could strike, Lillian caught his wrist midair. An oppressive glint went through her eyes.
"Noah Gu hitting a vulnerable woman- it wouldn't reflect well on the Gu Family's image, right?" Lillian threatened.
Her strength couldn't compare to Noah's as he snatched his hand back.
A murderous intent crossed through his eyes as he scanned the crowd.
"It wouldn't be an issue as long as I do it somewhere hidden," he snarled.
Before either of them could react, Noah reached out to hold Sophie's hand, pulling her along. His sudden action caught Sophie off guard, making her stumble, and in her self-defense, her free hand went for her small pocket knife, about to attack Noah.
Lillian, on the other hand, tried to rescue her friend, but his two henchman stood in front of her, blocking her path. A smirk played on their face.
She racked her head for ideas. Although Lillian had basic self-defense skills, they would be nowhere to fend herself against these men were trained. She couldn't count on the people around them to interfere either.
Most knowing Noah would turn a blind eye to the situation.
Hiding her phone behind her back, she immediately dialled the police's number from her muscle memory.
Then, as the man neared her, she took few steps back in alert and shouted at the phone. "Help, there are three men harrassing us in front of Amore!"
Seeing her actions, the men's eyes darkened, and they tried to reach for her phone. But Lillian then raised her leg- her heel connecting with the man's gut. As the other one tried to grab her from the back, she elbowed him.
Although she couldn't fight off these two men, she could postpone until the police appeared.
Meanwhile, Sophie struck the pocket knife against Noah's wrist with a clean, fast stroke. It left behind a large wound, blood splashing out. A wince left his mouth. Pain flashed in his eyes before he shoved her away roughly.
She stumbled and fell on the ground from the impact. Seeing how her friend was struggling against two men, Sophie hurriedly scrambled up and was about to help her.
Noah then grabbed on to her shoulder. Sophie's expression turned worse. Before she could counteract, the weight was lifted. From the corner of her eyes, she saw a man holding on to Noah's hand.
He was dressed entirely in black, a large hood masking his features. He gripped Noah's wrist, twisting it effortlessly. Sophie only caught a glimpse of his chin- pale skin, sharp jaw- before her attention snapped back to Lillian.
Seeing her friend being brutally handled pumped up her adrenaline, and Sophie, without hesitation, stabbed her knife into one of the man's shoulder.
Noah was dealt with by the man. His moves were subdued easily by him, and Noah was lifted on his shoulder before being thrashed on the ground.
He murmured curses before indicating his henchman to leave.
Noah glared at two of them, spatting, "Next time, it wouldn't be this easy."
Sophie made a mocking face. "Look at him run away with his tail between his legs. How embarrassing!"
Lillian stood up straight and fixed her hair. Meanwhile, she scolded, "Sophie, that was reckless. Do you know what Noah Gu is capable of? How can you go around provoking him? You have too many lives, right?"
Lillian's words made Sophie feel wronged. Her eyes dimmed down. "You saw how he spoke to you. I can't stand that bastard's audacity. How dare a loser like him speak of you!"
A sigh left Lillian's mouth. She softly said, "I could have handled it."
Sophie realized the man in black was about to leave. Making her way over to him quickly, she grabbed on to his jacket, inadvertently pulling him.
"Hey! Hold on!"
"Let go," the man's cold voice fell.
"You helped me. At least let me thank you," Sophie offered.
The man pushed her hand away, but the action caused his hood to slip down.
Silver hair tumbled free.
His skin was pale, nearly translucent. Deep shadows rested under lifeless eyes, and his countenance was gloomy and sickly, making him seem lanky with his tall frame.
However, there was a unique beauty in this.
Sophie blankly stared, holding back her urge to gulp.
Lillian blinked her eyes, recognizing him.
Jasper Lu.
Her third brother.
