He didn't say anything for a second. And just hugged her tightly.
He was still trembling as he pulled her into a tight hug, holding her like he was afraid she'd disappear again.
Kaya stood there, stunned. She didn't know what to do. She blinked a few times and then did the only thing that came to her mind—something she had seen on TV. Gently, she raised her hand and patted his back. Soft and awkward, but reassuring.
"It's okay," she whispered.
Cutie didn't respond. His body was still shaking.
He was so big, tall, and broad—easily twice her size. But right now, in her arms, he felt so small. Like a lost child, scared of losing something precious. His eyes were tightly shut, as if trying to calm himself down.
Then suddenly, he let go and stepped back, looking straight at her with something close to anger.
"Are you crazy?" he snapped.
Kaya blinked, startled.
"Do you even know how to swim? If you don't, why the hell would you go into such deep water?!"
