Chapter 35 - Interlude - I'm now a Level 2!

------------------------------------------

Connecting the dots easily, Alise had no problem figuring out that the masked person was Lisa, but could only speculate whether she and the Guild had reached some understanding.

Because even though Lisa had shown the strength of a Level 5 during the Great Feud, she was neither well know before the Evilus' attack nor was there any info about her at the guild, even after the Great Feud.

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Alise looked at Kaguya, Ryu, Lyra and the others who were discussing about the expedition and the enhanced monsters, and joined them.

------------------------------------------

"Uh? This is the city of Rivira, right? Am I at the correct place?"

This morning when I had met up with the girls, Alise had informed me that a sudden mission had come up and they had to cancel their visit to Rivira, hence postponing 'me treating them to lunch' for after the entire expedition.

It was a shame, but as I also wanted to check out Rivira, the city in the dungeon, I had left the camp without them and was now standing at the gate of Rivira.

But standing at the entrance arch with a board on it which read Rivira, instead of the city I was looking forward to, what I was greeted with was a half-baked village, that too under construction.

Looking around, I could see people buzzing around carrying construction materials and wooden logs.

...

Entering the city and following the main road to a square with stalls selling items of all kinds.

Looking around I saw weapons, armors and accessories being sold. There were also a few shady-looking shops with even their windows covered by a black cloth.

Ignoring them, I made my way towards a weapon stall, and picked up a black colored sword which had caught my eye.

"How much is this?"

The beast man with raccoon ears and tail held up four fingers in response to my question.

"Ok, four-thousand-"

"Four hundred thousand not four thousand." The rough voice of the stall owner cut me off.

"Huh? Can you repeat it?"

For a moment, I felt like I had misheard it as 400,000 Valis.

"It's 400,000 Valis." The stall owner replied confirming that I was not hearing it.

I silently placed the black sword back in its place, got up and walked away from the stall without another glance, not even bothering to bargain the price.

'So scary, a slightly better sword, than the old one I used, costs 400,000 Valis.'

Checking at a few others stalls, the prices were even more outrageous, some even reaching a million.

Shaking my head, I tried to forget those outrageous prices and walked towards a pub to have a light breakfast.

It seems the adventurers here were already drunk, shouting at each other as I was able to hear loud noises and shouting before even stepping in through the door.

Taking a seat at the bar table and looking at the prices of the dish, I only ordered a plate of fried fish and a glass of malt along with it.

"Have you heard? The expedition's camp is near the first river. They'll be here for another two days."

"The construction of the left part of the town will be complete by this week."

"It seems that the Freya members are also a part of this expedition."

"The members of the Freya Familia were seen on the 25th floor yesterday."

The adventurers were exchanging information openly with each other in loud voices.

I listened in to the latest gossip till my order was served in a few minutes.

"Yo, you new here? Haven't see your face before?"

A crook-faced middle aged-man sat on the empty chair next to me and asked with a wide smile on his face, showing off his crooked teeth.

"Yes, I'm new here." Ignoring his 'I'm a crook' label, I gave him a smile. Usually, people like him were up to date with all the latest news and a good way for one to get info.

"I came here with the expedition acting as a supporter. My name is Light and your name?"

While speaking to him, I silently used appraisal on him.

'A level 2 adventurer huh. The only notable thing about him is his Abnormal Resistance Developmental Ability (DA)'

"Another drink here!"

Calling the bartender and ordering another glass of malt for Malfoy, I started chatting with him, while probing the latest news about Rivira and the Dungeon.

...

Stepping outside the pub, I organized all the information I had gotten from Malfoy.

'The entire 18th floor was recently destroyed during the final battle of the Great Feud and is under construction, which is why it looks like a village and this is the 332nd or 333rd time the city is being rebuilt.'

I expressed a moment of admiration for the adventurers' efforts to rebuild this city every time it was destroyed, but soon gave up thinking about the exorbitant prices here.

'The city would take another month or so to be completely rebuilt.'

'The strongest adventurers in Rivira are normally Level 2, Level 3 being rare, Level 4 and higher adventurers usually only stay for some time and move on to deeper floors.'

'The most important tidbit being the city of Rivira is not under the direct control of the guild, and hence items which are banned on the surface are openly sold here.'

...

I made my way to an empty part of the city and called out,

"You guys can come out now."

Looking at the way from which I came, I called out to the three guys who started following me after I left the pub.

My Spatial Sense helped in locating them and there were red color on the system map also.

"Hahaha brother, I just wanted to ask for payment for the information I had given you earlier in the pub. You know it's very expensive"

Malfoy walked out from where he was hiding, a greasy smile on his face and his hands clasped together in front of his chest.

He started following me from when I left the tavern and it seems he also had two more accomplices. Two adventurers were standing behind him with their swords already drawn.

Appraisal on them showed me their status'.

The two were also Level 2's.

"Brother think over again, you're only one person and there three of us."

Malfoy had the look as if everything was going according to him, a malicious smile spreading on his face.

"Hmph" Snorting, I raised my sword and pointed it at the three of them.

'Fault Perception' activated, weak points in the form of white dots, only visible to me, showed up on the adventurers.

"Haaa"

Crabbe, standing behind Malfoy yelled and ran towards me drawing his sword.

Malfoy and Goyle did not make a move; they remained in their position.

*thud*

Ducking to avoid the incoming sword, I let his sword swing over my head and then used the hilt of my sword to strike against Crabbe's stomach.

The man staggered due to the force of the blow, his face scrunching up in pain and then fell down face-first to the ground.

Still alive, his chest heaving up and down, but unconscious.

"W-wait, a-are you a L-Level 3 or 4?" Malfoy taking a few steps backwards, the smile now gone from his face, looked alternately between Crabbe fallen to the ground and me and stuttered.

Not replying anything, I gave a wide smile to him and increasing my speed and dexterity using Accel made quick work of Malfoy and Goyle.

A quick hit with my sword's hilt between the ribs of one man and the for the other, a hit to his chin.

'Hehehe, jackpot.' Pocketing the 30,000 Valis and the thug's weapons in my inventory, I left the place heading towards the entrance of the city.

My destination; the monsters on the 17th Floor.

I wanted to Level Up to at least to Level 15~17 by the end of the day as the expedition would continue from tomorrow.

And unlike before, when I was wanted to test whether I could fight against Level 2 monsters on the 17th Floor, this time my sole purpose was to grind Level up's.

I even had the perfect combo of skills for that, fault perception to find the weak points on the monsters, float so that the monsters do not reach me and charged flying slashes using my wooden sword to one-shot them.

...

Passing the 17th floor's empty boss room, I was greeted by three Minotaur's in the corridor itself.

For a second I tensed up looking at the three bulky monsters, but a soothing sensation spread through me instantly, Gamer's mind doing its work.

*swoosh*

Similar to what I had decided, I used fault perception to pinpoint the first minotaur's weakness, and sent a charged flying slash at the white dot on its collar bone.

The bull-headed monster, without even knowing what happened turned into ash, its magic stone broken to pieces.

Seeing one of their own turned to ash, the other two minotaur's red eyes immediately turned around roaring at me.

"ROAR* *ROAR*

Letting out paralyzing roars, then started to run in my direction.

Not affected by the roars, I swiftly sent another two charged flying slashes turning the two monsters to ash.

*swish* *swish*

"Um, it's a pity that I won't be able to sell the magic stones for it's entire value, but this way I can easily grind the monsters and level-up at a faster pace.

And come to think of it, isn't my situation exactly that of a glass canon? I have more than enough firepower, but not enough endurance.

I need to Level up quickly as I'm not sure what system level is equal to a Level 2 adventurer."

Picking up the shards of the broken magic stones, I thought to myself.

I started walking towards the next room, eager to find more monsters to grind.

With my spatial sense, float magic and fault perception, I could easily steam-roll any monsters on this floor, maybe except the Wyverns as they can fly.

...

...

...

...

Three hours had gone by since I encountered the first monster on the 17th Floor.

Another thing I found was that there was no need to conserve my mind or try to measure it.

My levelling up speed was faster than my MP depletion as the monsters I defeated gave me huge chunks of Exp and I was levelling up at an insane pace.

And each level-up refilled my MP Gauze, hence allowing me to spam those flying slashes.

...

Entering a new room and peeking in, I could see 6 Ligerfangs, already spawned.

Unlike the last time where I fought with them directly, this time would be different.

Without alerting the monsters I made my way to the wall nearest to me and imagining the wall as the surface, floated in a vertical manner on it.

Floating up and perching on a ledge about 4 meters from the ground, I returned my attention to the Ligerfangs.

Now even those Ligerfangs would be hard pressed to reach me.

Not caring about the expenditure of mind, I spammed 'Fault perception' to show the weakness of the monsters.

Focusing on the weakness of the monsters using my spatial sense and sending charged flying slashes at the monsters was easy work.

*swish* *swish* *swish* x n

*GUAAA* *GRRRRR*

It was one sided as soon as I had moved to the ledge on the wall.

After making sure all the monsters were killed, I descended to the ground and scavenged the broken magic stones and the drops.

*guru guru*

Just as I finished picking up the last magic stone shared, my stomach protested that it was hungry.

Giving up my idea of finding more monsters to farm Exp, I started walking back in the direction I had come from.

Carefully checking if there were any more monsters in the corridor, I made my way to the 18th floor.

...

No matter how many times I see the 18th Floor, it still intrigues me, why did the dungeon create a complete safe zone with proper bright light, alternating day-night cycles, no monsters, a true utopia when it was said to be alive and looking for ways to kill the adventurers.

Upon reaching the camp, I was informed that I needed to wait for another 30 minutes for lunch to be served.

...

Sitting on the chair outside my tent, I opened the status screen by thinking of it.

------------------------------------

---Status-----------------

Level: 15 (3↑) (501/2500)

HP: 5100/5100

MP: 6100/6100

CON: 51 (6↑)

SPI: 61 (6↑)

Status points: 4

--------------------------------------

"Level 15, huh? Did the exp from the monsters decrease, I should be Level 16 counting the last six Ligerfangs."

Pulling up the notifications screen showed me that the monster Exp had reduced to 100 per monster after reaching Level 15.

"Wait does that mean I'm almost reaching the level of the monster's so the amount of experience reduced, that I am Level 2 now.

I wonder how much strong I am without my skills compared to a Level 2 Adventurer with Falna. Maybe a mid Level 2 as I was able to defeat those three Level 2's earlier."

Wondering about it, I checked my magic and skills.

They were the same, no changes, only the proficiency of the skills Fault Perception and my magic Float had gone up a little.

"Still, I'm now a Level 2 huh,"

With an excited smile on my face, I looked up staring up at the ceiling full of sparking crystals, and let the sensation that I am a Level 2 sink in fully while waiting for the lunch bell.
