Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: Hagrid’s Fire Dragon

That afternoon, Link saw the fire dragon Hermione had mentioned.

Towards this kind of magical creature, Link had always held a strong interest, especially towards fire dragons, those legendary, invincibly powerful beings.

The Norwegian Ridgeback that Hagrid was raising truly did not disappoint Link.

Although it hadn't fully developed yet, just a small one.

But its sharp claws and teeth, and the sparks that occasionally burst from its mouth, were enough to prove to Link that it was indeed a dangerous fire dragon.

The only regretful thing was, it was currently being held in Hagrid's arms.

Even though it was doing its best to act fierce like a fire dragon, no matter its biting or the sparks in its mouth, they had no intimidating effect on the giant Hagrid.

"Look! Norbert kissed me!"

Hagrid shouted excitedly, while Link and the others standing nearby all had speechless expressions.

Because from their perspective, the Norwegian Ridgeback named Norbert was fiercely biting Hagrid's cheek, refusing to let go.

This made Link sigh at the terrifying physical defense of the half-giant Hagrid.

A normal person bitten by this young dragon would have to lie in the hospital wing for a full day. You know, Norwegian Ridgebacks are slightly poisonous. Ron, who still had bandages on his hand, had already experienced this deeply.

"Uh, don't mind him. Hagrid's always dreamed of owning a fire dragon. He's just too excited."

Harry, not far away, explained to Link. But judging by his expression, he didn't quite believe his own words.

However, Link clearly wasn't going to expose Harry. Upon hearing this, he nodded, as if agreeing with Harry's explanation.

Harry, seeing this, breathed a sigh of relief. This was his first time seeing Link again in months. To be honest, it was a bit awkward. After all, previously he had declared that he wouldn't go easy on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, and then ended up losing badly.

But Harry wouldn't blame Link for that. Yet just because he didn't think that way didn't mean others did too.

Standing in the corner, Ron looked at Link, who was being surrounded by Hermione and Harry, and a hint of dissatisfaction flashed in his eyes. Angrily, he said to Hermione, "Why did you bring him too? Don't you know, the fewer people who know about Norbert, the better?"

"I don't think you're in any position to say that," Hermione said with a frown, hands on her hips. "Remember, the reason Malfoy found out about Norbert was all your fault."

"You!"

Ron's face turned red on the spot but couldn't say a word. Because what Hermione said was absolutely true.

At that moment, Link's eyes flickered. He only roughly knew the result of this storyline, and was actually quite surprised about Draco's involvement.

Thinking this, he asked directly, "You mean Malfoy knows the dragon is with you guys?"

"Exactly! Because of someone's stupid actions, we now have to worry constantly that Malfoy will tattle! Raising a dragon is illegal, you know. If Malfoy tells on us, not only will we get expelled, but even Hagrid will be sent to Azkaban!"

As soon as those words were spoken, Harry and Ron's expressions instantly turned dark, and Hagrid even shuddered from fear.

The movement was so big that Norbert was shaken right off Hagrid's face.

Fortunately, Norbert didn't seem to be hurt. It shook its head, then immediately found a new plaything, Hagrid's trembling foot.

Looking at everyone's expressions, Link shook his head and said, "I don't think you guys need to be so pessimistic. Malfoy definitely won't tell on you."

"What makes you say that? He's a Malfoy." Ron muttered discontentedly. But while talking, his eyes were glued to Norbert, worried the dragon would choose him next as a toy.

Link smiled slightly and said, "Do you guys remember Malfoy's full name? Draco, right? So, what word do you think that sounds like?"

"Dragon?" Hermione hesitated a bit before guessing.

Hearing that, Link snapped his fingers and said, "Bingo! Draco's nickname is Little Dragon. He's liked fire dragons since he was a child. Just like Hagrid, he's always dreamed of having a real fire dragon. So, there's no way he'd report you. Because if he did, the Ministry of Magic would just confiscate the dragon. What you should worry about is whether he'll take the risk to steal this Norwegian Ridgeback."

As soon as he finished, Hagrid roared, "No way! I absolutely won't allow anyone to steal my Norbert!"

As he spoke, Hagrid grabbed Norbert, who was busy fighting his leather shoe, and hugged him tightly again.

Seeing Norbert's poor little dizzy expression, Link thought that staying with Hagrid might actually be the most dangerous thing for the dragon.

Harry and Hermione were stunned for a moment too. As a pure-blood wizard, it made sense for Link to know some inside gossip about the Malfoy family, so they didn't doubt him.

But instinctively, they turned their questioning gaze to the other pure-blood wizard present, Ron.

Which made Ron feel extremely awkward.

Although he was a pure-blood wizard, he belonged to the poorest kind, most relatives didn't want to associate with them.

Plus, the Weasley and Malfoy families were mortal enemies. Him knowing details about Draco? No way.

But under Harry and Hermione's doubtful looks, Ron forced himself to say, "Ah! Seems like that's right! Uh, yeah! I have heard that before, just forgot until Link reminded me."

Hermione snorted with disdain, while Harry patted Ron's shoulder as comfort. As a friend, he still chose to believe Ron, even though Ron's behavior was clearly suspicious.

Unfortunately, that comfort seemed to make things worse, Ron's face turned even redder.

Link wanted to laugh at that, but he held it in and said, "But I still think you should send this dragon away as soon as possible. You know how fast dragons grow, keeping it at Hogwarts will expose you eventually."

"We thought about that too," Harry followed up. "So we contacted Ron's brother Charlie. He studies dragons in Romania. Tonight, we'll give Norbert to him to take back for research."

"Exactly!" Ron said excitedly.

The blush on his face faded a little, clearly, having his beloved big brother help out had won him some face.

At that moment, Harry seemed to remember something and asked, "By the way, Link, are you coming with us tonight to send off Norbert?"

"No, I still have to go to Snape's tonight." Link replied with a grin.

Upon hearing this, Harry, Ron, and Hermione all looked at Link with pity. Of course they knew Link had to go to Snape's office from time to time. Knowing Snape, that had to be a disaster.

But what they didn't know was, at that moment, Link was also feeling pity for them.

Because Link knew very well, the real disaster would be their dragon-delivering adventure tonight.
