Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: The Seal

Staring at his newly updated status panel, Uchiha Kirin estimated that the recent growth of his Sharingan had increased his Strength, Speed, and Endurance by around 200 points each. With each stat nearing the 1000-point mark, even among Chūnin, that placed him near the top of the ranks.

And when combined with the [Loot System], the speed at which his total attributes had surpassed 1000 made him feel as though he had entered an entirely new realm of power.

As for Spirit and chakra reserves, those had grown even more significantly thanks to the enhancement of his ocular power.

"With this many jutsu under my belt, perhaps... all I'm missing is real combat experience. Then I might truly be at jōnin level."

Fortunately, in Konoha, combat experience was easy to come by. All he needed to do was pick a fight in the right place, run a few simulations, and the experience would accumulate quickly.

Feeling the surge of power in his body, Kirin couldn't help but silently calculate his strength...

Just as he was about to start another simulation, something came to mind.

"Right—I still haven't checked the items I received from the simulation!"

With a wave of his hand, two silver-white scrolls materialized from the system space and landed on his desk.

Uchiha Kirin picked up the more pristine scroll and gently unrolled it on the ground. His Sharingan studied the contents closely.

No doubt about it—this was a scroll detailing the procedure for replacing Mangekyō Sharingan, along with instructions on how to fuse ocular power. It even included several historical cases from the Warring States Era where brothers had exchanged eyes.

He rolled up the [Mangekyō Sharingan Transplant Technique] scroll and returned it to the system space. Then his gaze shifted to the other, more warped scroll—Uchiha Setsuna's research notes.

This was the legacy of Uchiha Setsuna's years of research into sealing techniques and the Mangekyō Sharingan. Though they'd known each other for less than a day, this was the inheritance entrusted to him by a mentor who had seen hope in him.

After reading through the notes once, Kirin focused especially on the section describing how Setsuna had sealed the power of the three-tomoe Sharingan into his own eyes.

Pressing the scroll to his chest, he murmured softly,

"I'll carry on the will of the Uchiha... I promise."

...

He rose quietly and walked over to the water pipe. Turning on the tap, he doused himself in cold water, letting it soak him completely. Running his hands through his hair, he squeezed out the excess water. Only then did he manage to collect himself from the heavy weight of the mission now resting on his shoulders.

Next, he retrieved the pieces he had prepared: the White Zetsu flesh, Uchiha Setsuna's Sharingan, the briefcase he'd snatched earlier from the Root operative, and the massive sealing scrolls acquired in previous simulations.

Based on the basic sealing techniques Setsuna had taught him during the simulation, Kirin identified the Root ninja's case as a custom sealing container made from chakra alloy—a "Sealing Box":

Compared to sealing scrolls, a Sealing Box couldn't compress volume and had much less capacity. However, it did have identity recognition capabilities and shared the same ability to suppress and conceal the aura of stored items.

Moreover, the Sealing Box had a unique advantage that scrolls lacked: seal nesting. In simpler terms, it could store smaller sealing boxes or sealing scrolls inside it—whereas scrolls couldn't contain other scrolls.

With its chakra-alloy exterior, breaking out from within was far harder than from a sealing scroll. In other words, this box was ideal for storing valuable or dangerous items.

Given Kirin's current proficiency in sealing arts, as well as his external ocular and spiritual power, it was an easy task for him to erase the chakra imprint and seal left by the Root ninja.

He opened the box.

The first thing he found was a stack of explosive tags rigged with chakra-triggered traps. No wonder the box had self-destructed when forcefully opened earlier. Kirin pocketed the tags, then began to extract the remaining contents one by one.

First was a specially-forged kunai made of refined steel. Both edges were coated in chakra metal. It was a full inch longer than a standard kunai—a high-grade weapon by Chūnin standards.

He hooked the kunai onto his waist and continued.

Next, he pulled out two scrolls—one large, one small.

The smaller scroll was an unused sealing scroll.

But the large one was etched all over with runes—runes that looked increasingly familiar the more he stared at them. They were a part of the Barrier Technique: Sixty-Four Layer Seal. This scroll represented one module out of a total of 64 × 3—that's 192 modules in all—distributed among the Root operatives responsible for maintaining the barrier.

The last item was a bottle of dark red, chakra-rich viscous fluid. Based on what Kirin had learned about sealing arts in the simulation, he recognized it immediately—it was Root ninja blood.

Some non-Uzumaki sealing specialists lacked the chakra reserves to fuel advanced sealing jutsu. To solve this, they'd devised a workaround: storing chakra in blood ahead of time. When their own chakra ran dry, they could use this chakra-infused blood to continue performing seals.

This same liquid could also be used to draw explosive tags and other chakra-dependent items. With a small barrier inscribed on the bottle, it could even be thrown as a trap—immobilizing an enemy on contact.

After storing the unused items back into the system space, Uchiha Kirin unfroze the White Zetsu flesh from system suspension. Holding the pieces in hand, he kneaded them into a clump. The texture felt somewhere between putty and king oyster mushrooms.

Then he applied a seal.

Even after being sealed, the White Zetsu meat squirmed and writhed, trying to escape through the tiniest gaps in the barrier.

"Looks like Zetsu cells have some resistance to sealing arts."

What if he added Sharingan suppression to the mix?

Right on cue, Uchiha Setsuna's Sharingan—currently stuck in a half-awakened state due to lack of life force—was in a precarious limbo, unable to fully transition into a stable Mangekyō. Perhaps the Zetsu cells could provide the life force it needed to complete its evolution.

Sure enough, once Kirin embedded Setsuna's Sharingan into the Zetsu flesh, the two began to react.

The squirming flesh quieted, slowly wrapping itself around the Sharingan. Then everything went still.

Moments later, the eye—which had long ceased moving—began to rotate once more. It was slow, but unmistakable. A glimmer of hope lit up in Kirin's eyes.

He sealed the eye and flesh together into a smaller sealing scroll. Then he placed the scroll into the Sealing Box, applied another layer of sealing, and finally set a personal recognition code.

Kirin chose his custom technique, [Soul Slash], as the password—only a precisely calibrated mental-type jutsu could open it.

After all, who would randomly use a Yin Release technique on a storage box?

Finally, he threw the Sealing Box back into storage space and re-froze it—ready to retrieve during future simulations.

Now... it was time for the main event: sealing Amaterasu's black flames.

Hey everyone!

I recently found a really good fanfic called "Starting from One Piece with the Rinnegan", you can also find it on my Webnovel profile. It's about a character with the Rinnegan who ends up in the One Piece world.

He's not some overpowered guy crushing Yonko on day one, but he's definitely not weak either. He's strong enough to survive and grow, which gives the story a nice balance.

I'd say the pacing is smooth, easy to read, and packed with action. Personally, I didn't feel bored even when rereading it, which is rare for me!

Highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for something fun and engaging to read.
