Chapter 30 - She is in danger

Finally, he understood something of what was happening. She was being forced and had been beaten.

Judging by the marks all over her body, she had probably been beaten by many people.

The clothes she was wearing were not the same as before.

She had bought new clothes.

But now they were torn to shreds.

He approached her, not caring about anything else.

"Miss Jessy, it's me, Louis. Do you recognize me?"

She looked at him, her eyes trembling with fear. She tried to scream again and then once more. Four times, until finally her eyes seemed to clear.

It was then that she was able to look at him silently.

She wanted to speak, but couldn't. But seeing that she was now calm, Louis removed the rope that tied her mouth.

He noticed that some of her teeth were broken, her gums were completely swollen, and her cheeks had large bruises.

They were cruel.

He held her head, took out a few potions, and made her drink them.

Finally, he could see, in real time, how those bruises, wounds, and other things began to disappear.

'Magic, huh. Undoubtedly, this is amazing.'

He couldn't help but be surprised to see something so great happening in front of him.

After taking three potions, which weren't necessary but which Louis made her take, he put a white cloak on her to dress her.

She was finally able to speak.

Her body felt so refreshed that her mind began to work. Although it was uncomfortable to speak without several teeth, she still did so.

"Sir... I..." Her eyes suddenly became teary, and she bowed her head in regret.

Louis frowned. His countenance darkened, and his gaze fell on her body.

'Was she abused?' he thought.

That would be the worst.

It could even lead to her death, due to the depression she might fall into.

But then she spoke again.

"I lost all the money you gave me... those guys took it... I... I just wanted to wait for you here to thank you..." She said, and then she remembered something. She immediately looked up.

"They're looking for you... I think... they want to rob you, sir."

Hearing her and seeing her beautiful, tearful eyes, he frowned. "Did they abuse you?" he asked, wanting to confirm it. He didn't know why her face had fallen so much before.

Did she care so much about that money? Surely not.

But she, after understanding what he meant, quickly shook her head and looked back.

"I killed him," she said coldly.

This allowed the muscles in Louis's face to relax visibly.

"If you're okay, then it's okay. I gave you some potions, and your injuries have healed. But that's why I told you before that you needed to find a better place to work. This place isn't for you."

She nodded. "I... was going to buy a small shop with the money you gave me... but they... took it all... They even beat up Mr. Gon... because of me..."

Louis frowned. He understood why she was so worried about losing the money. She hadn't had that much in her life and was planning to change her fate that way.

And in fact, it was annoying even to him.

Not because he cared about that money, but rather because two people who had only sold him their services had been caught up in a massive robbery and beaten terribly solely because of what he had given them.

He gave it to them solely to pay them for their services, but they took it!

It completely ruined his reputation as the God of Money. What would people think if they were told that the God of Money curses those he pays?

Wasn't this a direct insult to his name? In fact, it was.

A flagrant insult. A slap in the face.

His reputation as the God of Money could not be tarnished in this way by bastards.

So he nodded and gave her a little pat on the head.

"Don't worry, every penny of that money will come back to you and Mr. Gon intact. Not even a single coin will be missing," he assured her.

He helped her up and sat her down in a chair so she could explain everything that had happened. He also wanted to know the bastards who had done all this.

He threw the headless corpse to the ground and sat down nearby, looking out the window while listening to everything.

He didn't need to leave here.

'The House of Shadows...'

He didn't have much information about it, but what he did have was important.

'Although they have prominent collaborators whom I couldn't take on with my current strength, all the leaders are ordinary people who control the streets.'

'And these collaborators don't look up to the leaders; they have no loyalty to them. They look out for the money they can give them and their contacts.'

This organization wasn't simple, but it wasn't something he should fear if he knew how to maneuver.

Its collaborators were dangerous, but they loved money, and he had money to spare.

Its leaders were ordinary people, with many men, weapons, and people under their command, but most of the awakened ones who worked for them were weak.

Everyone loves money above all else.

Louis was thinking of taking action right away.

He had initially planned to get a little stronger and learn more about magic, since he couldn't even cast a simple Power Rune in his current state, but if things turned out this way, there was nothing he could do.

He couldn't allow himself to be insulted like that.

Besides...

He looked at his stats.

'Is not bad,' he thought.

Based on what he knew so far, his strength was roughly at the level of a level 50-60. His perception was very high, perhaps at the level of a level 100, thanks to his innate perception.

His other stats were a little below average, but not bad. On average, they were at the level of 25-30.

This should be enough to deal with the bastards who had stolen the money.

"Sir, aren't we leaving? Those guys could come back at any moment." After finishing her story and seeing that he wasn't moving, she began to worry.

But Louis shook his head and patted her on the back.

"If someone robs you, beats you up, and wants to kill you, do you think running away, knowing that no one will be able to avenge you, is the right decision?" he asked.

"Well... but..."

"Since they dared to steal money I gave you, as I told you before, I'll make them bring back all the money."

"But..." She tried to protest once more.

But Louis smiled.

"If blood must be shed, then so be it. Sometimes it's necessary to create rivers of blood to get the respect you deserve. Don't worry, we'll be fine. Just stay close."
