"Damn it!"
We had lost two people already and the trial did not seem going to be over soon.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The horde kept on pushing to get inside.
I tried my best to keep the debris pile in front of the gate hold, but I was running out of debris around me to supply the blockade.
Kekeke!
Having murdered Gerson, the goblins shifted their attention to me.
"Serafina!"
Slash! Thrust!
Noticing my vulnerable position, Jonah broke away from the ogre and intercepted the goblins.
He did not have any problem overwhelming the monsters with his strength. They were slaughtered in a matter of seconds.
"Are you okay?"
He asked, goblins' dark blood was staining his attires.
"I'm fine. What about Shanny?"
Boom.
Near the southern side of the garrison, Shanny was running around trying to avoid the ogre's rampage.
Though Jonah had left her side, she seemed capable to hold on for now.
But I could see it would be soon until the ogre completely overwhelm her.
"What do we do now?"
Jonah asked me.
Unfortunately, the ogre inside the garrison was still in our way to the other gate. If we tried to make a run now, the ogre could block us easily.
On the other hand, the blockade on the gate on our side would soon fall.
If I abandon the seal and try to run for the gate now, the ogre inside and the horde pouring in would surround us immediately.
Meanwhile, if we left things as they were, the horde would soon break in, surrounded us, and we would be completely annihilated anyway.
Given the situation, we had to take risk if we wanted to survive.
"Shanny, bring the ogre over here!"
I yelled at her.
"What?! Are you sure?!"
Shanny asked in confusion.
"Of course! Start running this way!"
I told her.
"What are you planning?"
Jonah asked me again.
"Let's hope my time at the magic academy wasn't for nothing."
Boom!
The ogre tried to smash Shanny with its club but she leapt back and avoided it within hair's breadth, causing the ground where she stood to be crushed into a tiny crater.
As per my order, Shanny then sprinted to the western gate where Jonah and I were at.
As expected, the ogre gave chase to her.
Kroooaahhh!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ogre ran toward us with all its might. Leaving a trail of destruction through its forceful steps.
"I'm here! Now what?"
Shanny said as she approached us.
The ogre was just on her tail and soon approaching. It prepared to bash through us with its boulder-sized shoulder.
Once it was around ten steps from us, I released my telekinesis on the blockade.
Crash!
The horde started to rush in.
Krooaahhh!
I waved my hand on the charging ogre to our side and casted a spell before it reached us.
[Davah Shashanam]
The charging ogre immediately stopped in its steps.
It maintained its running pose as if it was frozen in time.
"Grh!"
I could feel the ogre's presence pressuring me immensely as I tried to cast a telekinesis spell on it.
After all, enchanting living beings were much harder than inanimate ones.
I had never tried to enchant a creature bigger than small goblins.
But I could not give up. I had to make this work.
[In the face of situation that tests the heroes' limits, the heroes' souls are being awakened!]
['Serafina (★★★★)'s telekinesis has levelled up twice to level 8!]
"Get out of my way, you cretin!"
I swung my hand back toward the gate and threw the charging ogre toward the rushing horde right behind us.
Crash!
The ogre fell on the wave of ogres coming in from the gate, impeding their charge into the garrison slightly.
Kraahhh!
The fallen ogre quickly rose to its knees and attempted to crush us with its mighty arm.
[Shield]
A translucent dome barrier manifested around us, blocking the ogre's arm.
Crack!
The ogre tried to force through the barrier with its overwhelming raw strength.
The shield began to shatter.
Other ogres from the horde joined in and smashed their hands on the barrier repeatedly, trying to turn us into minced meat.
Crack! Crack!
The entire barrier was cracking. It would soon shatter and allowed the ogres' giant hands to go through.
Jonah and Shanny could only stood silently by me and stared at the ogres with intense gazes.
In a matter of seconds, we would soon join Cecily and Gerson in their deaths.
Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack!
Dozens of ogres surrounded the crumbling barrier and pummeled it with rapid punches.
I could not believe these hideous giants would be the last thing I see in my life.
I refused to believe that.
I could not accept it.
No. Definitely not.
I refused to die in this pathetic forsaken wasteland!
Rays of mana surged out from my palms and permeated into the shattering barrier.
['Serafina (★★★★)' has obtained the skill, 'Multicasting'!]
The barrier glowed up with bright white light and it exploded into this wave of mana, throwing the ogres surrounding the barrier scattered all over the garrison.
['Serafina (★★★★)' has obtained the skill, 'Mana Shockwave'!]
Jonah and Shanny were in awe of my magic display.
"Amazing…"
"So strong…"
I stomped my foot to the ground and woke them up from their daze.
"Don't just stand there! Run!"
The two jumped up in surprise and quickly joined me in the escape.
"Y-yes!"
"Right behind you!"
We rushed our way to the eastern gate, all the while the scattered ogres were swiftly returning back on their feet.
More ogres were pouring in from the collapsed gate in the west.
As we ran through the garrison, I briefly glanced at Cecily's and Gerson's corpses strewn on the ground, drenched in puddles of their own blood.
Unfortunately, we had no choice but to abandon them here.
We could not possibly take them with us. Not while we were still preoccupied with saving our own lives.
I noticed Jonah and Shanny were looking at them in anguish too.
But they did not bother to say anything about the two fallen comrades and kept on running.
Apparently they were of the same opinion with me.
