"Hyah!"
"Out of the way, bastards!"
Without sparing any strength, Jonah and Shanny battled the dozens of monsters trying to feast on our flesh.
The enemies tried their best to land a killing blow on both of them, inflicting mild wounds on the two every now and then.
But Jonah and Shanny fought back twice as hard, eliminating multiple monsters every second.
Even though the enforcement enchantments had wear off for a while now, they were still able to battle adequately.
[Davah Shashanam]
Sparing high level magic, I used simple telekinesis to block any arrows and warding off enemies coming from our rear, while leaving the front to my comrades.
Crack! Boom!
The storm was raging wilder.
The flood all around the forest was turning worse to the point that the mud had reached up to our knees.
Thankfully the ogres were also slowed down by this flood and we were also soon approaching the fourth hill.
Jonah and Shanny joined up together and broke through the final row of enemies blocking our path.
Slash!
Pierce!
While stepping on the bodies of goblins, wolves, and harpies, we climbed up the fourth hill and took temporary refuge there.
Rumble! Crash!
A huge number of monsters were chasing us but they were soon devoured by the landslide I triggered on the hill.
I turned back to my party and examined their condition.
Multiple wounds had been inflicted on their shoulders, arms, backs, and legs.
Thankfully the wounds were not too serious yet that they impaired Jonah's and Shanny's movements.
However, it was time like this that I wished we had health potions with us.
Had we have those at our disposals, those wounds could be remediated in no time.
But we just had to do what we can for now.
Jonah had run out of throwing spears once more. It was time to replenish them.
I began to weave threads of mana to form a dimensional portal.
Thump!
A sharp pain began to rush to my head, overwhelming me with dizziness.
"Argh!"
I groaned as my mana dispersed, cancelling the spell.
Dimensional magic was such a high level sorcery. It required complex mental calculation and intricate mana manipulation.
With my weakened state, it would not be ideal to perform such an advanced spell in a short amount of time.
I could mitigate the situation had I have a mana potion with me.
Jonah and Shanny could not help but to worry about my condition.
"Are you alright?"
"What were you trying to do?"
"I was trying to open another portal to summon more throwing spears. But at my current state, I would need a couple of minutes to properly open one."
Kroaahhh!!!
The ogres' cries rang out throughout the field and made the ground tremble.
They were beginning to approach the fourth hill.
"I'm no strategist, but I sure know we don't have a couple of minutes for you to open a portal."
Shanny said while staring at the ogres.
"It's okay. We'll make do without the throwing spears."
Jonah said confidently.
"Are you sure? Without the exploding spears, you would need to confront a lot more enemies."
I asked him.
So far, Jonah had been using the exploding spears to break through the enemy formation whenever they breached the firewall.
Without them, Jonah and Shanny needed to tear through the blockade head on.
There would be plenty more risk present with this tactic.
"Shanny and I will just have to battle through the enemies with our own hands. Besides, we need you to save your strength for the important spells."
"Speaking of which, can you still shoot out those huge fire balls? Having those firewalls around us would still greatly help in battle."
"Don't worry. I still have enough for those. I also can still support you two from the rear."
"Then it's decided. Come, let's move again!"
Jonah said while grabbing his main spear.
"Urgh, I can't wait to get back and take a bath."
Shanny spoke out while descending down the hill.
Seeing their confidence made me relieved to have such comrades by my side.
I could not be so sure if I could survive this trial if I had any less of such allies.
[Goblins Lv.3 x113] [Goblin Archers Lv.3 x95] [Direwolves Lv.4 x78] [Harpies Lv.4 x63]
Like endless ocean waves, hundreds more enemies emerged to welcome us on the forest leading to the fifth hill.
The mud flooding all over the forest because of the storm had reached about shoulder-height as well.
But it did not seem to bother the monsters lying in wait all over for us.
I quickly casted surface-tension enchantment so we could step on the mud instead of drowned in them.
Jonah and Shanny immediately positioned themselves beside me so I could cast my fire spell.
I raised my hands forward and trails of flame began to emerge around me.
"Though it won't reach far, I'll make the fire spread wider so it would be harder for the enemies to break through."
I told my comrades as I began casting my spell.
"Just don't push yourself. We're almost there, after all."
"Yeah! At the very least, all three of us are getting out together!"
They replied to me while readying their weapons.
Dun! Crash! Dun! Dun! Crash!
I could hear the sound of the ogres trying to climb the collapsed hill behind us.
It was the signal for us to move forward.
[Maha Jwala]
A huge blaze burst forth and eradicated the forest in front of us.
The fire trail that was made this time only reached about a quarter of the distance needed to reach the fifth hill.
However, the firewalls around the path were twice as wide as before. It would be harder for the monsters to penetrate them now.
"Charge!"
We rushed ahead, running for the end of the fire trail.
[Goblins Lv.3 x58] [Goblin Archers Lv.3 x57] [Direwolves Lv.4 x51] [Harpies Lv.4 x60]
The monsters quickly breached into the firewalls, raging in flames.
Even though the firewalls were larger, the enemies were many so the dwindled number was still quite overwhelming.
[Davah Shashanam]
Compensating for Jonah's exploding spears, I caused the mud beneath the cluster of monsters to erupt.
Unfortunately, my trick could not kill any of the creatures, but they were at least spread out and disoriented.
Jonah and Shanny dashed forward and struck down the enemies that were right within our path.
This time they did not bother to kill the monsters.
Most of the time the two just pushed the monsters to the side so we could run through.
Thanks to this tactic, we were able to quickly ran through the fire trail relatively harmless despite being outnumbered.
We soon reached the end of the trail and it was time for me to cast another fire spell to prolong the path.
[Maha Jwa-]
"Serafina, look out!"
Jonah suddenly screamed at me.
I quickly turned around and discovered a giant boulder shooting down from the sky straight to where I was standing.
