In his home, Hubert finished watching a sports game and celebrated. He paused and muttered that it was time.
In the upcoming days, Hubert's first task was to go on an expedition to find the original elemental weapons. He would be accompanied by two ancients, Julia and Frank. He met up with them in a forest and smiled.
Frank had a stoic expression and a large frame. He stood like a statue.
Julia smirked and greeted him. She sat on a boulder. She inquired if he was ready.
Hubert smiled, and his eyes sparkled. He asserted that he was excited to work with them.
Frank nodded and continued that the journey would be perilous.
Throughout their travels, they explored countless ruins in Stribora. Some of the ruins were dangerous, filled with traps.
One day, Hubert, Frank, and Julia explored one of the many ruins.
Multiple deadly traps were activated.
Frank took the blow from them.
In the meantime, Julia saved Hubert. She laughed, and they gracefully dodged the traps.
They encountered monsters, as well.
Gevaudans, a dog-like monster species, mauled on Frank.
Julia urged Hubert to keep moving. She turned and punched a gevaudan, blasting its head with an explosion of energy.
Another gevaudan lunged at Hubert.
Julia caught it and slammed it into the wall.
Hubert cowered and hurried away.
After a while, Frank, Hubert, and Julia reached the inner room of the ruin. They examined their surroundings. They walked further into the room and found an original elemental weapon.
Julia smiled and suggested Frank to touch it.
Covered in arrows, Frank grumbled and pulled the arrows off his body. He sighed, and he was relieved that the journey was over. He joked that he won't have to volunteer his body for another trap. He walked towards the original elemental weapon.
The original elemental weapon radiated energy across the small room.
Instantly, Frank was electrocuted. He grunted and stepped back.
Hubert was worried.
Julia laughed and reassured that he would be fine.
Frank groaned and shook it off.
Julia walked towards the original elemental weapon. As she neared it, she was not affected by the trap. She grabbed the original elemental weapon, and the ground trembled. She smiled and swung it around.
The weapon had a long, black blade that seemed to slice the wind. It also had a chain that dangled at its end.
Hubert's eyes widened, and he admired the beauty.
Suddenly, a small chunk of the ceiling fell towards him.
Julia swung the blade and unleashed a slash of electricity.
It deflected the debris. It seemed like the weapon was meant for Julia.
Hubert smiled and wondered if it really was the first time she wielded the sword.
Julia blushed and nodded. She expressed that she felt some connection to any of the elemental weapons.
Hubert's smile widened, and he commented that she was incredible.
Julia's face softened.
Hubert grew to admire her because she was never afraid of the adventures.
Instead, Julia enjoyed the thrill. She would purposely activate the deadly traps.
Thus, Hubert was saved countless times by her, and he was extremely grateful. It seemed as though Julia put his life over Frank or even herself. Hubert did not understand her motives, but he had an attraction to her.
A few days later, they returned to The Exalted One with an original elemental weapon.
In a dark room, The Exalted One congratulated them for their accomplishment.
Hubert and Frank bowed.
Julia was distracted. She was enamored by the weapon. She smirked and glanced at Hubert.
Hubert blushed and looked away.
The Exalted One noticed their glances and smiled. He noted that they were getting along.
Hubert and Julia did not know how to answer.
The Exalted One suggested that they continue to work together on another project. He gestured to Hubert to come closer.
Hubert approached him.
The Exalted One whispered in his ear. He reminded their plan to revive the dead. He added that it was a great chance for him to spend more time with his love.
Hubert was flustered and flabbergasted at the same time. The Exalted One's words made him realize his feelings. He had not considered being with her.
The Exalted One chuckled and dismissed them.
Julia was inquisitive. She questioned what he said to Hubert.
Hubert stuttered that it was nothing. He smiled and turned away. He thanked The Exalted One and left.
Julia followed him.
Frank stayed and quietly talked with The Exalted One.
Later, Hubert was deep in thought and paced around a courtyard. He was startled when he noticed Julia, again.
Julia leaned towards him, and her face was a few inches from his face.
Hubert questioned what she was doing.
Julia chuckled and divulged that she could read his mind.
Hubert's eyes widened. He backed up, and his back hit the wall. He pondered on what she knew.
Julia admitted that she liked him, too. She reached out her hand and muttered that she was looking forward to working with him.
Hubert nervously shook her hand. He blurted out that he was also looking forward to working with her. He felt a spark, and the world seemed to become a better place. He was in love.
It was a euphoric feeling.
Julia smiled.
Upon reporting their recent accomplishment, Hubert and Julia were promoted and given their own laboratory. Their new purpose was to discover the secret to the revival of a human. They had a permanent place to call home, and they dated.
Hubert learned about Julia's past.
In one of the dates, they went to a sports game where Hubert cheered for his team.
After the game, Hubert kneeled, and he declared his love for Julia. He proclaimed that they would have a happy life together.
Julia teared up and agreed. They held a fancy wedding and got married.
Hubert was the happiest he had ever been. He felt at peace as his wife smiled back at him.
Things looked amazing for them.
A year later, Julia had her first child, a girl.
Both of them braced the baby girl and gave her a name, Cassandra. They named her after her grandmother, hoping she would grow as brave as her.
Soon after, they had a boy, Somnus. As they raised the kids, they realized how different they were.
Their son was too lazy to eat while their daughter savagely ate through bowls of food. Their son would lay on the couch all day as their daughter ran rampant across the laboratory and house.
Julia reprimanded them to eat and behave properly. She was overprotective of them. Thus, she spent more time with them than with Hubert.
It seemed like Hubert became the least important person to her. Even so, Hubert loved her, still. He continued to do what he was tasked to do, and he was determined to keep her happy.
