Elder Gilbert raised his gaze, filled with intense curiosity. "Warned you about what?"
"She told me someone wanted to harm Dad and wanted something from him. However, she didn't tell me who it was. She looked scared when she shared this with me," Clarissa replied, hoping her mother and grandfather would see the bigger picture she was painting.
"Then why did she choose to hide the claimed assets from us? If she had told us earlier, we could have stopped this disaster from happening." Leah countered, refusing to accept Clarissa's justification.
"I think she might be threatened. She seemed too overwhelmed yesterday," Clarissa said.
Leah let out a soft, incredulous laugh that momentarily broke the thoughtful atmosphere, almost making Elder Gilbert reconsider.
"I wonder if you are my daughter or someone else entirely to fall for her lies that cover her scheme," Leah said sharply, attempting to maintain control of the situation.
