Selene~
I took him back to my place. That conversation wasn't exactly one to talk about in public. But seeing us leave together in his car was definitely going to get rumors started.
By the next day, I'd be the comeback actress who managed to seduce the biggest star after just one day on set. Just another thing to add to my reputation.
He parked outside my building, it looked a bit out of place but thankfully, the people who lived here didn't particularly care about gossip. When I got into my apartment, I tossed my keys on my bed. He closed the door behind me.
"Sit."
He raised a brow. "You always this bossy?"
I didn't answer and he sat at the edge of the bed, with that casual arrogance that seemed to follow him everywhere.
"What did you do to me?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
He said it so easily, like I was the crazy one for thinking he even did something to me. I kept my distance, just in case I would zone out and not remember this conversation later.
"Cut the act. I know you did something to me. One minute, we're in the trailer and your eyes did that weird glowy thing and the next minute, I'm on set nailing a performance I don't remember giving."
Christopher leaned back slightly on his hands, he looked way too comfortable.
"Glowy thing?" He smirked. "Selene, are you sure you're not just dazzled by my naturally charming presence?"
What the…?
Was this what he was truly like? The adored actor certainly had a twisted sense of humor.
"What perfume do you use? Gaslight by Gior?"
He grinned. "You know, you're fun when you're mad."
"What did you do?" I deadpanned.
He sighed dramatically. "Just nudged your brain a little."
"Without my consent?"
"I said to trust me. You didn't exactly say no."
"You gaslighting vampire," I muttered, taking more steps away from him.
"Not a vampire, honey."
Honey?
He then stood up, walking past me to the door. He opened it and turned to look at me before stepping outside.
"You're welcome by the way."
I raised an eyebrow. "For what?"
"For being unforgettable."
He shut the door behind him and left.
That was it? Really? I walked to the door and cracked it open, just to see if he was still in the vicinity, the hallway was empty. He actually left on a one liner.
I closed the door and collapsed on my bed. What did 'nudged your brain' even mean? I had definitely seen his eyes glow. I mean, I never hallucinated about people with glowy eyes until I met him so his eyes definitely glowed.
I'm not crazy. He's just a really good liar.
I sat up and grabbed a pen to scribble on a post-it I stuck to the head of my bed.
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT WITH CHRISTOPHER:
1. Stay as far as possible away from him.
2. Try to retain full memory.
3. Invest in garlic and holy water. Just in case.
I nodded to myself after reading the list again, feeling quite satisfied, and then I ripped it.
"Unforgettable."
Jerk.
****
"So what's the problem again?"
I turned to look at Cass who was balancing a crate of oat milk on the shelf.
"I can't seem to remember anything from that moment till shooting ended," I muttered.
"But I thought the director praised your acting."
I groaned. "He was ecstatic, not just him but everyone there and I don't remember a thing."
She tilted her head to me. "So what's the problem?"
"Can't you see? He did something to me."
She blinked.
So I might not have told her about the whole eye color changing thing and the other paranormal stuff, but I needed a second opinion on the periodic loss of memory to be sure I was not out of my mind.
And right now, Cassidy was looking at me like I was out of my mind.
"You were always a sucker for pretty boys," she shook her head. "Speaking of, did something happen between you two?"
Us two? Oddly enough, I knew exactly who she was talking about.
Chad and I hadn't had a conversation since that moment in my apartment, when he showed up uninvited at my apartment.
"What happened?" she asked me gently.
"He came to my place. Said some stuff."
She raised a brow. "What kind of stuff?"
"I didn't come here to talk about him," I said flatly.
"You still want to talk about your hot co actor?"
"It's really not like that."
Cassidy gave me a look and stepped out of the back room, I followed closely behind her, quickly putting on my face mask to avoid recognition. Chad was working the counter and for a short while, our eyes met only for him to look away first. There was no expression on his face.
"I know it wasn't the sex."
"Huh?"
Cass looked back at me, then shifted her gaze towards Chad only to look back at me.
Oh my God.
She knew.
"It was just that once and we didn't even go all the way," I hurried, blushing profusely. "How'd you even find out? You were out at that time."
"Cameras," she replied, pointing towards the ceiling.
Of course.
Cass knew about Chad and I, and she only had one rule, that we shouldn't take our agreement into work, meaning that we should stay professional, and we did stay professional until that particular day.
She went over to an empty table to clean it and I trailed behind her.
"Cass, I'm serious. He's weird. He even showed up to my house and I didn't give him my address."
She furrowed her brows. "You talking about Christopher Hart?"
I nodded.
She stared at me for a long time, as if she was trying to put things together.
"Oh," she finally said. "Chad saw him over at your place."
Sometimes, I really hated how easily she put things together. I rolled my eyes. Chad was unreasonable, and because of it, he said things that he should never had said, and now he's giving me attitude like I'm the one at fault.
"He thinks I'm sleeping with Christopher."
Cass let out a low whistle and took a seat, she beckoned to me to sit and I did. "Well, are you?"
"Cass," I gasped.
"Well, obviously you're not. But what was he doing at your place? And I don't blame Chad for being jealous, he has a huge ego and well, not that we're comparing, but Christopher Hart is definitely the better option."
"There are no options."
She winked at me. "Sure. What was he doing at your place?"
I couldn't exactly tell her that he came to inform me that he was a werewolf.
"I don't remember."
"So, it's the face, after all," she smirked.
"I'm not that much of a fan girl," I yelled, a bit too loudly as it caused a bit of stares to come our way.
Cass laughed out loud, she seemed to be enjoying this.
"By the way," she said amidst laughing, "mystery guy hasn't been here since you stopped showing up."
Well, obviously. He could come to my house to see me or we could just meet on the set instead. But I couldn't tell her that.
Why couldn't I tell her that Christopher Hart was mystery man?
"Someone's hot," she teased.
Oh, that was why. She would turn it into something it isn't and I would be left with the aftermath of all that teasing.
"But seriously," her tone suddenly switched from light hearted to slightly serious. "Talk to Chad. He was probably just feeling a bit insecure. The ego on that man."
She groaned and took to her feet, leaving me alone. She had work, I knew that but I had wished she stayed a bit longer.
I turned to the counter to catch a glimpse of Chad only to realize that he was staring at me already. I hurriedly looked away and pretended like I had not seen him.
I was unsure of what to say to him. Was I to apologize? What for? Did I even do anything wrong?
The door opened and the bell chimed, an old couple walked into the shop and I could hear Chad taking their orders. I didn't look back, just in case he was still staring at me. I took that as my cue to leave.
I got up from my seat and headed for the door. I wasn't sure why but I expected him to call me back before I completely left but he didn't. He didn't call for me. I walked out of the shop and made my way home through the familiar road.
I enjoyed the few minutes of peace and quiet until my phone buzzed in my pocket. I took it out and a text from an unknown number popped up on the screen.
"Hey cupcake, didn't think I'd be texting you again but when I saw you earlier today, I remembered how we happened. You always manage to shine so bright, no matter what. Do you want to meet?"
I stared at the message for a while. There were only two people in my life that called me cupcake, one was my mom and the other was Luca.
