In an instant, the condensed wave of Spirit Power was released—and the next moment, it surged straight into Dugu Bo's spine and ribs, fusing into his body.
As the Eight Spider Lances began to integrate, Dugu Bo felt a wave of searing pain rush through his vertebrae and ribcage. It was as if something was expanding violently within, stretching the surrounding flesh and skin to their limits.
"Aaagh!"
A painful cry burst from Dugu Bo's throat. His chest heaved, and his upper body arched involuntarily from the intensity.
"Ye Yu, you brat—what did you just do to me? Why does it hurt so much?!"
Hearing this, Ye Yu immediately froze with an awkward expression.
Cough cough... Grandpa, could you not phrase it like that? That sounded terribly misleading...
"Hang in there, Grandpa! It's a good thing, I promise—you'll understand in a moment!"
By now, Ye Yu had already retrieved the Demon Willow Fluff and backed away several meters to give Dugu Bo enough space for the manifestation of the External Spirit Bone: Eight Spider Lances.
After a few moments of excruciating pain, the process was complete.
From either side of Dugu Bo's spine, four fist-sized protrusions emerged. A second later, eight deep violet spider-like appendages burst from those bulges and rapidly extended outward, expanding in all directions.
Soon, eight skeletal, sharp-limbed spider legs—thinner and sleeker than those of a Man-Faced Demon Spider, but clearly modeled after them—sprouted fully from Dugu Bo's back.
These were the Eight Spider Lances—a powerful External Spirit Bone—now fully integrated into Dugu Bo's body.
As the Spirit Bone finished manifesting, Dugu Bo was suddenly flooded with a sense of overwhelming vitality and comfort. Curious, he turned to see what had appeared behind him.
And then—he froze.
"What is...?"
Seeing the Eight Spider Lances extending from his back, Dugu Bo stood in stunned disbelief. His eyes reddened, lips trembled, and his voice choked as he spoke.
He was deeply moved.
"Xiao Yu… This… This is an External Spirit Bone…"
"Such a priceless treasure—why would you give it to this old man?"
"I'm already so old… You should keep something like this for yourself, or give it to Yan Yan!"
"Grandpa," Ye Yu said seriously, "treasures like this? There will always be more."
"I already have the External Spirit Bone: Thunderous Hell Prison Spear, and the Undying Laurel Heart. And when I absorbed the spirit ring from the Demon Willow, I obtained another External Spirit Bone."
"At this point, I have more than enough."
"You and Yan Yan both have Jade Phosphor Poison in your bodies. You each need a suitable Spirit Bone to store it safely."
"Yan Yan already received the Demonic Scorpion Tail-Hook External Spirit Bone to store her poison."
"This one… I believe it's best for you."
"With the Eight Spider Lances, you'll not only survive longer—you'll live stronger."
"Besides, I still want you around to see the day you become a great-grandfather!"
Hearing Ye Yu's words, Dugu Bo could hardly contain himself.
"Xiao Yu… The day I agreed to wager with you—that I wouldn't stop Yan Yan from being with you just because of your Martial Soul…"
"That was the best decision I ever made in my life."
After gifting the External Spirit Bone, Ye Yu let Dugu Bo familiarize himself with its powers.
Dugu Bo began practicing channeling his Jade Phosphor Poison into the Eight Spider Lances for storage.
Meanwhile, Ye Yu walked over to the nearby grove of Blue Silver Grass that he had personally planted some time ago.
The small seeds he once sowed had since matured into shrub-like clusters of thick Blue Silver Grass. Judging by their aura, some of them had likely reached over a hundred years of cultivation.
Previously, when Ye Yu refined the bloodline essence from the Phoenix Perching Parasol Tree, Wind-Thunder Skyhawk, Darknight Bat, and Devourer Demon Dragon, his Blue Silver Spiritjade Tree Martial Soul had evolved again.
It now possessed two new attributes:
Blazing Phoenix Markings – a passive trait
Blue Silver Space – an active ability
Over the past few days, outside of his own training and tutoring the girls, Ye Yu had been experimenting heavily with this Blue Silver Space.
At last, he had some results.
The Blue Silver Space was a dimension nurtured by his Blue Silver Spirit Jade Tree Martial Soul.
However, strictly speaking, it did not exist inside the Martial Soul itself. Instead, it was a small independent dimension, detached from the material plane yet still tethered to the world of Douluo Continent.
Because this dimension was formed by his Martial Soul, Ye Yu could sense it through the Spirit Jade Tree.
But here lay a problem:
Only the first tree summoned was technically his Martial Soul. Would the secondary trees—those grown through propagation—also count?
To verify, Ye Yu conducted an experiment:
He summoned one Spiritjade Tree.
Then, through natural division, allowed it to sprout and grow multiple additional trees.
The result?
Each and every one of those trees allowed him to access and sense the Blue Silver Space.
The Spiritjade Trees grown through division were still part of the Martial Soul—thus, fully connected to the dimension.
From this, Ye Yu made a further discovery:
If he left a split-off Blue Silver Spiritjade Tree in the wild, it could sustain itself indefinitely.
Thanks to the absorption of various plant-type spirit beast essences via Spirit Rings—such as the Undying Herb, Starlight Tree, and Earth Vein Purple Ganoderma—his Martial Soul now inherently possessed their traits.
For example:
The tree's roots could burrow deep into the earth and absorb nutrients and terrestrial energy, converting it into Spirit Power and life force for survival.
From the Starlight Tree, it could absorb solar, lunar, and stellar energy.
From the Undying Laurel, it had enhanced moonlight absorption.
From the Demon Willow, it could parasitize and devour energy from surrounding plants.
Even the animal bloodlines—Dark Devilgod Tiger, Phoenix Percingh Tree, Wind-Thunder Skyhawk—had left an imprint on the Martial Soul.
In other words: if a Spiritjade Tree was left in the field, as long as it wasn't unsummoned, it could survive by absorbing ambient energy and devouring neighboring vegetation.
It even grew like a regular plant.
Of course, it wouldn't provide feedback Spirit Power or life force to Ye Yu while unsummoned—but even this ability was astonishing enough.
Based on this discovery, Ye Yu developed a new application for the Blue Silver Space:
He planted several Spiritjade Trees inside the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
He then transplanted the Blue Silver Emperor (Ah Yin) and the surrounding wild Blue Silver Grass into the Blue Silver Space.
Because the dimension could link to reality via any of the trees—such as those left near the Yin Yang Well—it could open a passage and draw in spiritual energy.
This meant that even within the Blue Silver Space, his transplanted Blue Silver Emperor and Spiritjade Trees could continue absorbing the benefits of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
At the same time, Ye Yu himself could remain linked to this space and enjoy its advantages.
Thus, it became a high-level mimicry training ground perfectly tailored to the Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul.
A self-contained, mobile, elemental-rich training realm—entirely his own.
Simply put: it was perfect.
