Chapter 27 - Tired. Let It All Burn. The Choice of the Two Ice Emperors

Huo Yuhao was completely stunned.

The appearance of Xu Tianchen and Ye Guyi left him deeply confused, though he could still somewhat make sense of it. In his view, this was likely the result of his identity as the Chosen of Fate disrupting the flow of events.

Wang Dong'er not going to Shrek and instead ending up with him at the Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineering Academy, even reverting to her original female form—this, too, Huo Yuhao could rationalize. In the end, it probably just meant that Tang San, that scheming bastard, was still pursuing his eternal plan and wanted him, the Chosen of Fate, to serve as his loyal dog.

Even Di Qiu'er, the renamed Auspicious Beast, showing up years earlier than expected—Huo Yuhao could barely accept that, assuming Tang San tampered with the beast's soul. Upon seeing Huo Yuhao not join Tang Sect as planned and instead enter Shrek via the sect's recommendation quota, he might have secretly manipulated Wang Dong'er, causing her to transfer to the Sun Moon Academy as well—dragging the Auspicious Beast along into early manifestation.

But the appearance of Gu Yuena, the Silver Dragon King, now that truly shattered Huo Yuhao's understanding of reality.

[Something's wrong. Seriously wrong! Am I hallucinating? Why is the Silver Dragon King appearing now? Shouldn't she still be in deep sleep at the Lake of Life, recovering? Isn't she supposed to awaken in the Douluo Three timeline—like ten thousand years from now? Is it the world that's messed up, or me?]

[If she really is the Silver Dragon King, then I can confirm that Di Qiu'er is indeed the Auspicious Beast. But even if that bastard Tang San is a God King, how could he possibly bring her out so early, and have her appear in front of me—WITH the Auspicious Beast? That's absurd!]

[Can someone—anyone—explain to me what the hell is going on?!]

'Well, at least this human has decent taste.'

On the surface, Gu Yuena remained aloof and calm, but inwardly she was quite pleased by how many times Huo Yuhao had mentioned her in his diary.

The only thing that displeased her was that Huo Yuhao speculated her early emergence was due to Tang San's meddling.

'That mere Sea God thinks he can influence me? That fake God King wants to manipulate me—he'll pay dearly! And that traitorous bunny who betrayed soul beasts... she won't be spared either!'

Gu Yuena's expression was flawless. Even with Huo Yuhao's enhanced spiritual eyes, which gave him powerful observational skills, he couldn't detect any abnormalities.

Once Gu Yuena quietly returned to her seat, exuding solitary beauty, Huo Yuhao collapsed lifelessly onto his desk, completely ignoring the self-introductions of the other students in Class One.

[I'm tired. Let it all burn.]

Far away in the Extreme North, Bing Di (Ice Emperor) finally couldn't contain herself after reading the diary.

"Xue Di! Did you see that? Even the so-called Soul Beast Empress, the Silver Dragon King, went to the Sun Moon Empire to find Huo Yuhao! And she even took on a human form! That woman has no shame!"

"No way—I'm going to find Huo Yuhao myself and drag him back here to the Extreme North!"

Her shout echoed across the snow-covered plains, shaking the very flakes from the ground into flight once more.

Just as Bing Di was about to bolt out of the Extreme North, Xue Di grabbed her tail and stopped her. Seeing Bing Di's confused expression, Xue Di shook her head and said:

"Why are you always so impulsive? Have you even decided on a human form? Or are you planning to show up in the Sun Moon Empire looking like an Ice Jade Scorpion Empress?"

"Once we leave the Extreme North, neither of us can fight at full strength. Charging into the Sun Moon Empire head-on is suicide—it could even get us killed."

Despite her warning, Bing Di's rage wasn't soothed. She furiously flicked her jade-green stinger and snapped:

"So what, we're just supposed to sit back and watch?! Watch the Silver Dragon King steal all the diary rewards?! Xue Di, you saw the rewards in Reward Set 3. They can help us overcome our upcoming tribulations, increase our lifespan—even help us become gods! Are you seriously going to give up on that?!"

Of course Xue Di didn't want to give up. It wasn't even an exaggeration to say that her chance of surviving her upcoming 700,000-year tribulation was less than 1%.

If it hadn't been for the sudden appearance of the diary, she had planned to undergo re-cultivation into human form, risking her life in the gamble to become a god. If she succeeded, she could then bring Bing Di with her to the Divine Realm, ensuring that her dearest sister of hundreds of thousands of years would survive.

She never told Bing Di this—she didn't want her to worry. But now, with the diary, a new possibility had emerged.

Xue Di fell silent for a long time. Finally, she spoke in a calm voice:

"Bing Di, I have an idea. I'll re-cultivate into human form and head to the Sun Moon Empire to find Huo Yuhao. I'll find a way to make him write your name in the diary. That way, even if you stay in the Extreme North, you can still get rewards. At least this way, you won't risk dying from re-cultivation without becoming a god—and being left with only a few hundred years to live."

Bing Di's jade-green eyes filled with emotion, but the very next second, a suspicious look crossed her face. She glanced sideways at Xue Di and asked in a low voice:

"Wait... you're not just planning to ditch me and go after Huo Yuhao by yourself, are you?"

Xue Di froze, mouth agape, staring at Bing Di in disbelief. Her cool, stunning face was filled with shock.

"How could you even think that?! Bing Di, is that really how you see me?"

Xue Di was genuinely hurt. She had always treated Bing Di like a little sister. Whether it was her original plan to re-cultivate or her current plan to go to Huo Yuhao, it had all been to keep Bing Di safe. But this one sentence had pierced her heart.

Seeing the sorrow and confusion on Xue Di's face, Bing Di panicked. She flailed her claws and desperately explained:

"No, no! That's not what I meant! I just don't want you to leave me behind in the Extreme North! I don't want to be apart from you!"

At that moment, the proud Ice Jade Scorpion Empress looked less like a beast king and more like a pitiful, abandoned pet.

Xue Di could only sigh softly and gently pat her head with a pale, tender hand.

"Soul beasts have never been welcomed in the Divine Realm. Even if we re-cultivate and reach godhood, it's still almost impossible. Now that we have this chance… If we let it pass, there may never be another. So… what should we do?"

Shrek Academy, Class Nine.

While listening halfheartedly to Mu Jin's lecture, Ning Tian was secretly reading the diary's contents in his mind. After a long pause, he whispered to Wu Feng beside him:

"Aside from the students who got expelled, there were two new students in Class One named Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao who withdrew, right?"

Wu Feng thought for a moment and nodded.

"Yes, Young Master. But why are you so interested in that guy named Wang Dong? Don't tell me you've got a thing for him?"

The idea filled Wu Feng's heart with jealousy, her expression darkening. Beneath the desk, her fists clenched tightly as she began plotting whether she should track down this Wang Dong and beat him up so badly he'd never dare show his face again.

Ning Tian didn't answer. His brows furrowed slightly as he sighed inwardly:

'What decisiveness! Dropping out of Shrek just to head to Sun Moon Academy and find Huo Yuhao. Seems I'm not the only one tempted by the diary's rewards.'

Heh, did you think Ning Tian and Wu Feng both had diary copies?

Wrong! 😏
