Chapter 18 - A new face

Scarlet sparks mottled high in the sky, and burning planks fell to the ground like meteorites.

A plume of dark smoke stretched across the sky, chasing the falling ship.

The air ship was rapidly losing altitude and the wild animals scattered in different directions. However, it was too late and their fates were sealed.

A fireball flew over Morvian and Elias' heads, so close. That the two could feel its terrible heat.

A gust of wind hit the small boat, causing it to rock on the churning water.

The once beautiful flying ship finally hit the ground and a thunderous explosion rippled throughout the valley. However, the ship did not collapse on the spot.

Instead, it plowed tens of meters of earth like a wild beast on a rampage.

The soil surged and flew apart in different directions under the weight of the ship.

After sailing over the ground for some distance, the ship finally stopped and black smoke began to rise into the sky, blending into the lingering sky.

Morvian looked on in shock as he sat in the boat.

The golden-haired girl stared at the huge bonfire a couple hundred meters away from them without taking her eyes off it.

Flakes of ash, like raindrops, were falling from the sky relentlessly. Sticking to Morvian's wet skin.

Elias also watched in surprise with his scarlet eyes.

The downpour began to slowly extinguish the ship and the fury of the fire subsided with each passing moment.

Elias sighed and looked at the ship before jumping into the water.

'Let's take a closer look.'-he said.

Morvian came to his senses and looked at the monster and only nodded briefly.

Elias was able to reach the bottom of the river due to his height and with the help of his strong arms, Morvian and Elias stood on dry land and walked across the wet ground to the ship.

The downpour had done its job and the once blazing ship only hissed quietly from the water.

Though the ship had not burned completely, some parts of the ship had already managed to break and fail.

Thus, Morvian and Elias boarded the ship, climbing up the wooden wreckage blackened by the fire.

A spacious deck appeared before the pair, and a fallen mast had broken through the floor and dangled overboard.

Several charred bodies lay on the deck in various poses of agony. Morvian and Elias, however, tried to ignore them.

The two of them made their way to the captain's cabin at the rear of the ship.

The blackened wooden door, blackened from the cuts, was quietly waiting for the girl and the monster. They were in no hurry to enter, however.

Morvian looked around for a while, after which a blue chip swirled around his ring.

The revolver appeared in the air and dropped smoothly into Morvian's hand.

Elias was also alert, listening. His claws glistened in the moonlight and water dripped from their ends.

A pleasant voice appeared in Morvian's mind.

"I'll go first, you cover."

The golden-haired girl nodded and stepped back a little, gripping her revolver tighter.

The monster's sharp claws gently opened the door with an unpleasant creak.

The sound of rain was lapping at them from the back, and from the front they heard a woman's voice.

The singing came from a long hallway at the end of which was another door.

Maybe the couple could linger to enjoy the singing. However, they didn't really feel like it.

After all, it was simply awful.

Although the voice of the unknown singer was quite pleasant. However, any talent was out of the question.

The unknown did not get into the rhythm because of what constantly stumbled on the words. As a consequence, the song was as repulsive as possible.

It was the most daring thing Morvian had ever done.

A little embarrassed by Hell's cries, Morvian and Elias began to walk slowly down the corridor.

The tall monster ducked slightly as the ceiling was quite low.

Its thick dark fur held water droplets on it, and its sharp claws scratched the walls.

Behind him walked a blonde-haired girl of small stature, holding a revolver. Eyes the color of the sun followed every creak of the planks, and her ears flinted with chanting.

Meeting no unexpected dangers in their way, they stood near the door.

The horrible chanting was definitely coming from the room in front of them.

Elias cautiously opened the door and the door creaked open revealing the owner of the dreadful chant. It should have.

However, Elias only saw a long metal spear swiftly thrust into his body with incredible force and sent him flying down the corridor.

Morvian managed to dodge the monster's heavy carcass as it swept down the corridor and crashed under the boards with a thud, along with his weapon.

Morvian recovered from the shock and instinctively stepped to the side.

The bullet rattled past him, leaving the odor of gunpowder behind.

Morvian's heart beat faster and his fingers clutched the revolver.

The cold sweat on his back mixed with ash as he pressed himself against the wall.

Goosebumps traveled over his skin and his hair stood up and Morvian ducked.

Another bullet pierced the door frame and the boards flew with it over the golden-haired girl's head.

Morvian did not wait for the next shot and jumped straight through the doorway, pointing his revolver at the enemy.

Her long hair stirred and her eyes narrowed to the size of pins as Morvian jumped into the room.

He saw a beautiful girl pointing a rifle directly at him.

Lush blue hair followed the turn of the unknown woman's head in disarray. And eyes the color of the silent sea watched him in surprise.

She was dressed in a loose white shirt, as well as dark pants encasing her long legs.

In a quieter environment, Morvian would have gotten a better look at the beautiful girl. However, he was not interested in that right now.

Two sounds of gunfire rang out as the ship fell from the sky.
