This is how my status window looks like right now.
That was indeed a scary experience, and I avoided certain death by hitting Monica at where it mattered the most.
Cause, when you think about it deeply, then from her perspective it would have been really scary to regress non stop, due to the death of someone she hates to the core.
She left me grounded after that, and I returned to the dormitory somehow, safely.
Anyway, now that I know there is someone else who knows the future other than me, completing tasks is going to be really tricky, especially if it involves other characters of the novel.
But, on the other hand, it is reassuring to know that Monica wouldn't try to kill me anymore, knowing what the consequence would be.
So, I don't think she would interfere much in my matters, unless and until I do something outrageous.
The only thing I should focus now, then, should be completing tasks and getting stronger.
I got 10 more story points to increase my stats.
Without much thought, I clicked on the Stats option.
[Stats - Dorian Valen]
Strength: 7
Agility: 14
Endurance: 6
Intelligence: 10
Charisma: 9
Willpower: 5
Luck: 4
Previously, I had used 6 story points on agility, for which it has become 14, which is a decent level.
Still, considering I couldn't evade Monica's attacks, it must be pretty low compared to hers.
I was walking back to the academy from the location where Monica left me.
The academy's tall standing buildings were in my sight, as I breathed a sigh of relief.
The sun had already begun to set, and the sky was painted with fading hues of amber and pale purple.
Shadows grew longer on the narrow cobbled streets, and the rooftops glimmered faintly under the evening light.
Old stone buildings stood quiet on either side of the road, their worn walls touched by the gold of twilight.
A few dim lamps were lit, casting soft circles of light on the ground.
Somewhere, the sound of a distant bell chimed, low and echoing.
It felt peaceful.
Too peaceful.
And for some reason, it felt… familiar.
I didn't know why.
I had no memory of this place from my past life or before the regression.
Yet, the quiet warmth of this scene stirred something in me. Something I couldn't quite name.
A kind of still sadness, like I had walked this road before—perhaps as a different version of myself.
Maybe even a worse one.
I exhaled softly, my breath barely visible in the cooling air.
The spires of the Academy came into view between the buildings, standing tall and unmoving. Like the world hadn't changed at all.
But I had.
I opened my status window again and tapped on the stat section.
Without thinking too much, I invested all ten story points into agility again.
[Agility: 14 → 24]
I felt a light jolt run through my body, particularly my legs.
My balance felt sharper. My perception of movement around me became slightly clearer.
It wasn't enough to match someone like Monica, but it was progress. And right now, that was all I needed.
I started walking down the wider street that connected the residential zone to the gates of the Academy.
The shops were mostly closed, the few remaining open giving off a warm glow through their wooden-framed windows.
Then—I heard it.
A cry.
Faint at first, but desperate.
"Help!"
My steps froze.
The voice was clearer the second time.
"Someone! Please! Help me!"
It wasn't distant.
It was near. Too near.
As if it was calling out to me.
I turned towards the sound.
From a shadowed alley just ahead, someone stumbled out—A girl.
Her academy uniform was torn, her breathing shallow, and her right arm hung limp, dripping with blood.
Her eyes locked onto mine.
She whispered in a hoarse voice before collapsing on the ground—
"Help... Please…"
