Allison Mackenzie was already dressed and seated in her office before the morning sun had fully slipped over the skyline. The glass walls reflected her as a composed woman in control. She wore a plum coloured satin blouse with dark pants and her blonde hair was pulled into a low chignon.
She had an espresso in hand as she skimmed her agenda for the day: a board consult at noon, a media response session at four. It was predictable and precise. Just her style.
After taking bored sips of the espresso, she set the teacups aside and reached for her phone on instinct, her mind half-occupied with the day's meetings when it lit up.
Incoming Call: Tommy
She blinked.
"Tommy," she answered quickly, straightening in her chair. "I was about to call you. Are you on your way—"
"I won't make it today," he said, his voice curt and flat.
Allison blinked, voice tilting toward concern."What happened? Tommy, are you alright?"
