Chapter 22 - Instant Evaluation! So Many Plump Caterpies, Yet You Picked the Skinniest One?!

"Bro, if you don't like Caterpies, don't report my stream!"

Lovy chuckled helplessly. He had to respond to that barrage of comments.

"Okay, I've got a question. If everything you said is true, why did your brother lie instead of just telling the truth?"

Testing a new detail, Lovy continued to probe.

"Because my sister is super socially anxious. Our family is really biased toward boys. My sister has always felt inferior and scared to talk on camera—she stutters. So I had to do it. Some streamers ignore me as soon as they realize I'm just a kid or a boy. I had no other choice…"

[Tsk tsk, so that's the reason.]

[Sigh, streamers like Lovy, with real positive energy, are rare these days!]

Lovy went quiet for a moment.

Given his knowledge of streaming culture, he could tell the boy was telling the truth. Judging from how the girl reacted earlier, being socially anxious seemed pretty spot on.

"I see. Then your sister is very brave—despite being scared of the camera, she still stood up for you. And you, as her brother, are also commendable. The bias in your family benefits you, yet you're still thinking of your sister…"

[Lovy's too pure, man!]

[I'm afraid if he keeps streaming, he's going to be scammed out of his underwear!]

[Nah, I support Lovy! You guys are just too cynical!]

"I did lie about having a rich friend earlier. That was fake, so don't get your hopes up. And since you lied first, I won't even do a free Caterpie evaluation for you. I can't reward lying."

Lovy's tone was calm.

[Lovy's got standards. Respect!]

[LOL, he's got a spine!]

The boy on camera looked visibly disappointed and guilty.

Seeing this, Lovy continued:

"I will evaluate a Caterpie for free—but not for you, for your sister. Also, to make sure I'm not being tricked again, I'll ask the Dream Protection Bureau to verify things in person. If you're hiding anything, now's your chance to come clean."

[That's fair!]

[Yeah, let Dream Protection Bureau handle it—if it's a scam, they'll know!]

"Streamer bro, I was wrong to lie earlier. I sincerely apologize! But now, everything we're saying is the truth!"

The boy's tone was sincere.

"Good. As long as you've learned your lesson. Let's evaluate these Caterpies."

Lovy took control of the rhythm.

What followed was a full Caterpie evaluation session.

Lovy asked the kids to point the camera at each Caterpie so he could choose the best one.

"This one's no good. Poor stats!"

"Next—bad nature!"

"Hmm… This one only knows Tackle. Put it aside for now!"

Since there were quite a few Caterpies, Lovy had to speed up the process.

[Wait, can you really evaluate them like that?]

[Lovy, I know you're skilled, but are you messing with us right now?]

[Please, at least pretend you're thinking about it!]

Viewers who had been in Lovy's stream before knew he had skills.

But this was the first time he showcased his lightning-fast evaluation technique—way beyond most people's expectations.

Other Pokémon appraisal streamers often spent 10+ minutes on each Pokémon before saying anything.

But Lovy? Like a Pokémon X-ray conveyor belt. Snap snap, and it's done.

Needless to say, Lovy's evaluation method was ahead of its time.

At the Dream Protection Bureau, Officer Tan had just finished a livestream on Pokémon scams when he heard about this situation and returned to Lovy's stream.

He had just explained how to spot fake appraisal masters in livestreams, emphasizing that real evaluations take time—at least a full minute per Pokémon.

And yet Lovy?

He was cranking through Caterpies in under five seconds each!

[Officer Tan, is this guy a fake too?]

[LOL, what's going on here?!]

Officer Tan's own stream filled with amused comments.

"Ahem… well, like I said, real experts are often found among ordinary people. If you watched my stream earlier, you'll know Lovy—aka 'Kabby the Appraiser'—is that hidden expert! He must have some special technique we don't know about!"

Wiping sweat from his forehead, Officer Tan looked a bit embarrassed.

He couldn't possibly say Lovy was fake—not after Lovy had just helped the bureau identify a rare psychic-type mutated Ponyta!

"Bro, want to take a break? My family's expecting a new batch soon—you can choose from that instead. We're not in a rush…"

Seeing that none of the current Caterpies impressed Lovy, the boy hesitantly offered.

"No. That one!"

When they reached the last few Caterpies, Lovy's eyes lit up at one of the stats.

"This one?" the boy pointed at a sturdy-looking Caterpie.

"No. The one hiding in the back."

Lovy was pointing at a frail-looking Caterpie, clearly low-energy and skinny.

[That Caterpie looks half-dead!]

[Is it even eating?!]

[Lovy, are you sure? Don't mess this up!]

Despite Lovy's reputation, this choice went completely against logic.

With so many plump Caterpies around, he picked the weakest, skinniest, most lifeless one!

And of course, some new viewers had just tuned in—meaning doubts were inevitable.

"A true Pokémon appraisal often goes against common sense! Just like true masters are rarely understood!"

Feeling inspired, Lovy delivered a masterclass in dramatic one-liners.

[Whoa, Lovy dropping heat like a boss!]

[Why is Miltank flying? Because Lovy's blowing hard enough from the ground!]

[Chill, folks! If Lovy picked it, it's gotta be special!]

Suddenly, Lovy noticed a familiar username in the chat: "Spring Blossoms".

An old viewer from his previous stream!

[How do I send gifts to Lovy? Can someone help me? Holding-fist emoji.jpg]

Lovy paused.

Judging by the language, "Spring Blossoms" seemed older. Clicking into the profile—sure enough, it was a sprightly white-haired grandpa who posted videos of himself training with Pokémon at the park.

"Grandpa Spring Blossoms, thank you so much. Your presence in my stream is already the best gift. No need to spend money—keep it for yourself!"

Then a new comment popped up:

[Sending gifts isn't worth it, the platform takes a cut. Just transfer money directly to the streamer!]

[Grandpa, do you need a grandson?]

Over on Officer Tan's stream, he was touched by the sincerity:

"Man, this young guy's stream is always full of surprises. He handled today's situation incredibly well. Even I might not have managed it this smoothly!"

Slapping the desk, Officer Tan announced:

"I'm personally sending him a couple gifts—just a small token of support!"

[User 'Dream Protection Bureau·Officer Tan' sent gift: Poké Ball ×2!]

"Thanks to Officer Tan for the Poké Balls!"

Lovy was stunned. Why was Officer Tan sending gifts again?

Suddenly, a wave of new viewers poured into the stream!

[Came from Officer Tan's stream! Had to support Lovy!]

[If Officer Tan vouches for him, you know Lovy's legit!]

[Everyone, follow the stream—don't let good people stream to a void!]

The unexpected flood of traffic pushed Lovy's viewer count past 500, and it was still climbing!

[User "GoodDeedsGetRewards" sent gift: Poké Ball ×1!]
