The kind of leaf brought to her, where the wrong ones cause she smelled them and didn't eat any.
I had an idea, so I said to them, why don't we take the little one's to smell the plants, maybe they can help us find the right one.
In order for the mother not to worry, we made the little one's to smell the first few plants around us.
Then we moved deeper into the forest, to keep searching while Nehu stood Guard over the mother Spikeres.
She was in no shape to protect herself. Or anyone else.
After smelling a lot of the plants leafs, the cub that I was carrying started licking on a leaf.
I called Angie over and her cub did the same, so we collected as many leaves as we could carry, with the prickly cubs in hand.
We walked back to where the mother was, and found that Nehu was pouring water over the Spikeres to get the soil off it's body.
We where shocked! but didn't say anything. Instead we put the little one's down and gave the mother the leafs which she smelled and ate.
Once she was in better shape and could follow us. We took the little one's and carried them, hoping this will help us lead the mother to safety as we headed home.
The Spikeres followed us because she had no choice, or maybe she had some trust.
while Nehu went to get more leafs, for the Spikeres and find those two guys, to help with the picking of the leafs.
When we got to the hut we explained to our mother that we brought guests home for tonight.
I still couldn't believe that this was not a dream, but I went to bath. While I wondered, why had mom not asked about the mess, that I had left behind in the hut. Of which now we came back with more mud.
Well not really more cause we rinsed our feet, when we got to the kraal but we where all having signs of being through the mud now.
Nehu walked into the hut saying there is enough food for the Spikeres to last her the night. Then she said that she is heading home because she needed to bath.
Mom being as curious as Carter, asked Angelique to go introduce her to the guests. Which Angelique did without question.
They got to the kraal and the little one's rushed to Angelique while her mother watched from behind. Then Angie signalled for her to come closer so she did. The mother was still eating but watching everything.
Angie said her mom should sit then she put on of the little one's in her lap and part of it in her hand.
When the little one slipped backwards it got startled and made itself a spiky ball. Mom got pricked and jumped up.
Which caused the Spikeres to charge at her. I stood in front of my mother, without thinking and closed my eye's. To brace for impact because I was in its way.
It stopped right in front of me, huffing in my face and making a bellowing sound.
The little one's had both gone into defence. Carter came running outside, to see everyone stuck in that position.
He passed mom who wanted to hold him back, but clearly he knew this would happen, as he dodged her hand quickly.
He gently rolled the spiky small balls to there mother's side. When they got to her side they went out, because they could here and smell she was closer. She retreated to the food and the little one's followed.
Well that was nearly a disaster. I said this as I escorted the two ladies out of the kraal and back to the hut.
When I got inside I was talking about being hungry and how crazy the day was. Yet the both of them where hardly saying much.
After eating supper I said goodnight and I left to my room. Thinking that they probably think that something is wrong with me.
When I got comfortable, before I could even think about the mud swallowing me whole, sleep took over disturbing my thoughts as usual.
Angie and mom sat in the kitchen still shocked, at what had happened in the kraal. Mom asked, did he really get swallowed by mud! and was the Spikeres really stuck in a rock?
Well, getting swallowed by the mud I did not see. I just saw the clothes and muddy footsteps, but the way that Spikeres, was stuck in that rock!
Did not make sense because the rock looked like, it solidified around it's legs
We could hardly chip at it, but he removed it! By creating a sand storm, as we watched.
Even I started to question, weather I was awake or dreaming.
My mother just gasped! But her hand flung to her mouth, to close the sound from being to loud. Her eyes no longer looking tired like usual.
She clearly was not expecting the part with the sand storm.
I guess it is because no one came to report, this part to her since we had send the two guys away.
Mom was holding in her emotions, but clearly she was worried and excited all at once. I was not a mother myself, but really!
I mean if you have one child, with an alive plant, that likes to draw energy from her. Then another who can be swallowed by mud and create a sand storm. How would you feel.
She just told me to go to bath so that I can go sleep. Fortunately we had eaten just before coming home. Otherwise we would have struggled to cook with all this shock.
I was tired but probably she was emotionally drained, from all the reports that she got today. I stood up, gave her a hug and a kiss and went to bath.
After Angelique left the room, her mother got up from her chair walked to her room. Mumbling about her husband leaving her to deal with children that can do the unknown.
