MINGAN'S POV
I found Nadir waiting for me in the shadow of the old oak tree, just where I expected him to be. His posture was rigid, formal, but I could see the tension in his shoulders. The boy had always been easy to read once you knew what to look for.
He bowed when I approached, the movement precise despite his obvious discomfort. "Elder Prince."
"I can tell you are disgusted," I said simply.
His head snapped up, those dark eyes meeting mine with barely concealed emotion. "Was it not the plan to leave the Whitewater Luna to die?"
"And I also mentioned plenty of alternatives should my stubborn grandchild find a way." I gestured toward the palace, where candlelight flickered in distant windows. "Plans within plans, Nadir. You know this."
"He will not." There was certainty in his voice now. "I hear he is trapped in the Dakaru house. He will not be able to do anything if he is kept there until it is too late."
