Chapter 205 - Chapter 205: The Well-Connected Pope

"We just need to wait here," Helles said, standing by the side of a wall.

Virginia, beside her, asked curiously, "What exactly did you hear? Blood Axe Lord is still waiting for our treatment."

Helles smiled mysteriously. "Naturally, it's our savior, His Holiness the Pope."

Just now, Helles had heard His Holiness the Pope's special bell sound. Relying on her own Storm Hunt Seal, she instantly sensed His Holiness the Pope's location.

His Holiness the Pope had conveyed some orders to her through the bell sound, telling her to wait here, and then let Virginia take over.

Virginia was about to speak again but was covered by Helles's hand. "Listen!"

At this moment, Silas and John's conversation came from the other side of the wall.

"As expected of His Holiness the Pope, this acting is so good it almost feels real to me!" Helles was full of admiration and secretly noted this down.

Because this kind of acting would be a good cover when pretending to be weak to defeat a stronger enemy in the future.

Virginia, however, was not quite clear. She leaned close to Helles's ear and whispered, "This coward is your His Holiness the Pope? Impossible, right?"

Helles rolled her eyes at her and said in a low voice, "His Holiness the Pope's knowledge and abilities are beyond your imagination. He's acting, showing weakness to make the enemy lower their guard. Later, when His Holiness the Pope shouts, you just smash this wall and drive those two away. His Holiness the Pope wants to lure out the big figures behind them."

Virginia was full of astonishment upon hearing this and muttered, "This is acting? You're kidding, right!?"

At this moment, Silas's panicked shout suddenly came from over there.

Helles patted Virginia's armor and said seriously, "Sublime Divine Wanderer Envoy, it's time to display the majesty of the Holy Sword Wielder!"

Hearing this, Virginia immediately perked up, drew the greatsword from her back, and smashed the wall with one strike...

The fat middle-aged man and John cautiously looked at Virginia, who was completely covered in armor. Finally, their eyes fell on the greatsword that could easily shatter half a wall, and they cautiously took two steps back.

"Are you from the Radiant Church!?" The middle-aged man, being well-informed, recognized Virginia's style of dress.

Hearing "Radiant Church," Virginia fell silent for a moment. Her eyes, hidden by the triangular mask, darkened. The greatsword in her hand was wielded as casually as a hemp stalk. She stared at the middle-aged man and said, "Fat pig, you shouldn't have mentioned that name in front of me."

With that, Virginia's body suddenly rushed towards the two.

This speed was extremely fast, so fast that John didn't even have time to react.

Fortunately, the fat middle-aged man had some skill. He grabbed John by the back of his collar and retreated, casually taking out a bright red object, preparing to throw it forward.

Looking closely, it was actually a completely blood-red heart of some animal.

Virginia, seeing this, cursed in a low voice, "Damn necromancer!"

Immediately, her body turned and retreated as if dodging a plague god, lightly grabbing Silas and quickly leaving.

The middle-aged man didn't throw out the still-beating heart. His face looked rather unsightly as he said, "Damn it, how did we run into such a lunatic."

At this moment, John regained his senses. "Is she from the Radiant Church?"

"Not really. People from the Radiant Church have rather strange ways of thinking, which has led to the emergence of many eccentrics who betray the church for various reasons."

The middle-aged man said this, put the heart back into his pocket, and looked in the direction Virginia had disappeared. "These people call themselves Exiles. Each of them has peculiar personal principles and rampages across the continent."

"Then Silas…" John was somewhat unwilling.

"There will be opportunities in the future. Exiles like her usually just rescue someone they see and then continue their wanderings, rarely offering continuous protection."

"It can only be this way. As long as he is still in this city, he will fall into my hands sooner or later."

...

In the basement of an abandoned house deep in an alley not far away, three people stood by a bed, looking at the extremely weak Connor lying on it.

Silas reached out and checked him. "The situation is not good; he must be treated immediately. The fluid in his chest and abdominal cavities is already affecting the normal functioning of his organs."

"Then what should we do? We are isolated and helpless now. Let alone doctors, we can't even find medicine," Helles said anxiously.

Silas turned his head and asked, "Are you sure he is related to this plague?"

"Yes! When we encountered him, we heard the soldiers chasing him say that he had infiltrated some research institute and learned things he shouldn't have known," Helles said with certainty.

Virginia nodded. "Evening Bell Pope, your believer did not lie. I swear by my holy sword and the light in my heart, what we said is true."

"What the hell is an Evening Bell Pope?" Silas complained in his heart, turned around, and said, "Get two simple stretchers, put him on them, and we'll leave here immediately. I know where to go."

The two immediately got two wooden sticks, tore off the canvas from the ceiling, and made a stretcher.

At the same time, Silas quickly left.

By the time the two had carefully lifted Connor onto the stretcher, Silas had already returned.

"Let's go, the carriage is just ahead," Silas said calmly.

Hearing this, Helles was happy, and Virginia was shocked.

She hadn't expected His Holiness the Pope to have such resources.

He had only been here for a day or two, right? And he could already get such things?

After coming out, the two saw a four-wheeled enclosed carriage at least four meters long on the main road not far away.

Beside it, a fully armed soldier was waiting for them.

"You can actually mobilize army personnel?" Virginia was even more surprised.

Silas said casually, "Basic operation."

Helles snorted and glanced at her, as if she herself had summoned the carriage.

"This guy's connections are not just ordinary."

This soldier was the same one who had transported Silas and Elaina last time.

Silas had already briefly explained on the way. After the four got into the carriage, the soldier said nothing and drove off.

In the carriage, Connor, with chapped lips, a pale face, and his whole body trembling from a high fever, temporarily regained consciousness.

His blurry eyes first looked at the two familiar women, then fell on Silas.

"Who are you?" a weak, blurry voice came.

Helles introduced, "This is our leader. You can call him the Bell Holder."

"Bell Holder?" Connor thought for a moment after hearing this and asked hoarsely, "What are you going to do to me?"

"You should say, what am I going to do for you!" Silas replied forcefully.

Virginia, beside them, took out an apple from somewhere and said while eating, "We are now heading to the royal palace of the Kingdom of Guinness. You have received Mr. Bell Holder's help, and you will receive the best medical treatment there. So now, Raging Blood Axe Lord, close your eyes, don't speak. If your life is lost, your creed will also dissipate."

Connor's body relaxed after hearing this. His lips moved slightly as if he wanted to speak again, but before his throat could move, his eyes closed, and he fainted.

Silas looked at the blood-stained axe beside him, the sleeve blade on the inside of his wrist, and the iconic hood, and asked, "He should be from the Assassin's League, right?"

Helles nodded. "Yes, when he was unconscious, he was still muttering strange words, something about an assassin's creed, 'Nothing is true,' and the like. That rhetoric and grammar are very similar to Virginia's naming style, making one feel ashamed just listening to it."
