Chapter 8 - LUSIFA'S RETURNS

The area was now under heavy fire as everyone tried to escape death. Flames raged from building to building, licking the sky like monstrous tongues, consuming everything in their path. The acrid smoke clawed at the air, making it nearly impossible to breathe. Panic thundered through the streets.

"What the hell is happening?" Luna asked as she began to lose her sanity. Her voice cracked, raw with fear and confusion. Rain began to pour, but lightning didn't strike. The rain was heavy, relentless, but not enough to quench the fire—not even close. Instead, the droplets hissed as they met the flames, vanishing before they could make a difference.

She suddenly heard a voice in her head.

'Luna! This is the world we live in! There is only war! And if there's peace, it'll last for just a month! Fight for survival!'

Tears welled up as the fire from the earth erupted like a volcano. Heat pulsed against her skin, the smell of burning wood and flesh sharp in her nose.

"Boss, this is getting serious! Do something!" Lena, the once great woman in battle, panicked. Her hands trembled slightly, eyes wide with disbelief. When it comes to age, Lena and Teresa are two years older than Luna, but at that moment, age meant nothing. They were all swallowed by the same chaos.

"Lord! What the hell is going on," she finally spoke, her voice hoarse, as her blood boiled with anger beneath her skin.

"Call the firefighters team immediately," Lena instructed one of her girls, snapping back to command.

Deep in the lonely and forbidden forest, a two-storied ruin stood, and on the top floor, there stood a man named Lusifa. His hair was a mess as shadows danced behind him—shifting, whispering, watching. His nails were black, long, and sharp. But his eyes didn't change. They remained hollow, ancient, unreadable.

All his teeth were black as he spoke.

"It's been thousands of years. Seems like humans are living peacefully with vampires," he let out an irritated laugh that echoed eerily.

"I'll destroy everything!" His voice rang like a curse, thick with ancient resentment.

Now not only at one place, as vampires, vampires began to come out with bloodstained eyes. Their movements were uncoordinated, unnatural—controlled. Lusifa had already cast a spell on all the vampires to attack the humans.

Back at the station, almost half of the Omega Black team was present, as they stood against the vampires. Their uniforms were soaked in blood and rain, faces hardened with exhaustion. Some of the vampires that were helping started misbehaving messily, snarling and twitching, as if caught in a trance.

"I think something is wrong! Something is happening to all the vampires! I think someone powerful is controlling them," Lena speculated.

"No matter what is happening, we need to help everyone out of this place immediately," Luna said. Her voice carried authority despite the chaos around them.

Many cars were already present as they helped the humans into them. Children cried. Mothers screamed for their missing loved ones. Gradually, none was left, but all the vampires were out of their homes, seeking who they'll use to quench their thirst. Their hunger was insatiable, their mercy gone.

VAMPIRES PALACE

Inside the building, the king of vampires—King Ragna—sat on the heavy throne as Ezekiel, the vampire crown prince, entered. The palace walls, though grand, were silent and tense, holding their breath as the outside world burned.

"My king! I don't know what is going on! Many humans will die because of this," Ezekiel said with anger in his tone. His fists were clenched, eyes burning with fury and guilt.

Lusifa was a once vampire king. The cursed vampire. The only vampire king who has ruled without the pureblood running in his veins. His reign had been erased from history for good reason.

"We have to perform a spell to bring all the vampires back to their senses," King Ragna said, rising slowly, his face grim.

"But my king, we need a strong, powerful witch to do that! Where will we find such a witch?"

"In the forbidden mountain! Send someone there and bring a witch here immediately."

The ruins were still taking place, and Luna thought it was only in that particular city. The sky above remained dim and heavy, casting a somber gloom over everything. She and Lena got back to the mansion, their steps hurried and minds racing.

They hit the door open with force, and even the maids were terrified. The tension was thick enough to slice through. No one dared to speak; even their presence was hesitant and quiet. They didn't bother going to the top floor where Luna normally stayed. Fear had swallowed every ounce of routine.

"This area is safe, boss. The Alpha Mega team is doing a great job," Lena said, trying to maintain some sense of control amid the chaos.

"Good. We need to ask for help in other countries immediately. Where is my phone?" Luna's voice trembled slightly as she patted her body down, searching like a mad girl driven by desperation.

"Take mine," Lena said, handing her the phone quickly. Her eyes searched Luna's face, anxious but composed.

"But boss, I don't think this situation is only happening in this country. I feel it's taking place all over the world." Lena's voice cracked with concern, the possibility far more horrifying than anything they had prepared for.

"Impossible!" Luna snapped. "This can't happen." Her fingers fumbled as she dialed a number. The line clicked. Someone picked up.

"We need help! The Philippines is under attack," she complained, her voice sharp with urgency.

"Sorry ma'am, but this incident is happening all over the world." And with that, the person from the other end hung up, leaving a silence heavier than steel.

The world seemed like it was going to crash to the ground, as there was no longer hope. Even the air Luna was breathing seemed to stop too, clinging thick in her lungs like smoke.

"Boss, boss!" Lena, for the first time, panicked about Luna. Her voice shook as she reached forward, unsure if Luna would collapse or scream.

"Am fine, am fine. We need to find a way out of this mess," she said, her breathing shallow but steadying. "I am not giving up! I won't give up!" Her voice rose with defiance, her eyes burning with new purpose.

Lena was surprised at how Luna now cared for humans. This wasn't the boss she had always known—cold, strategic, detached. Curiosity was eating her up, and after a moment's hesitation, she asked,

"Boss, why do you want to save people now? I thought you don't care about anyone?"

"At that time, I was stupid. Now I've come to my senses, and I want to save as much as I can," she said, her gaze firm and unwavering.

"Thank the Lord!" Lena couldn't help it—she felt some kind of joy rising within her. It was unexpected, foreign almost, but it warmed her chest. Luna was changing.

"Let's get to work now!" Luna said with renewed energy, snapping them back to action.

"Boss, I think you should wait. There is nothing we can do," Lena warned gently, hesitant to dampen her spirit.

"What about spells?" Luna asked suddenly, the idea blooming in her mind like a spark in darkness.

"You're right. But we need Teresa." Lena's tone turned serious. A spark of hope flickered between them.

Ezekiel had already found a powerful witch, and the ritual was already taking place under the blood-red moon. It was to summon all the vampires back to their senses, to undo the chaos that had consumed their minds.

The ritual site was deep within an ancient forest, where magic still thrived in hidden roots and forgotten stones. The circle of witches chanted in unison, their voices echoing like wind through hollow trees.

Though, none of this affected any pureblooded vampires, as Lusifa had no power against them or how to control their minds. Their blood was too ancient, too strong for his influence to reach. But the biggest problem was that pureblooded vampires were very few—scattered and hard to rally.

Soon, the ritual was done, and all vampires came back to their original minds. One by one, the fury in their eyes dulled, clarity returning as if waking from a nightmare.

"Thank you, Lilly," Zeke couldn't help but thank the witch who had helped in performing the ritual. Her robes still shimmered faintly with lingering spelllight. Though, even if she disagreed, he'd kill her and the rest of the witches. Gratitude didn't make him soft.

He leaped back to the vampires' palace, determined to take the next step. His speed blurred him through the trees like a shadow in the wind.

Now, everywhere was calm, and the media gathered around at Luna's mansion. Reporters and photographers crowded outside the gates, flashes lighting the air as if stars had descended to earth. She came out to give a speech, her posture tall and regal despite the weight on her shoulders.

"Why are you now helping humans?" They all threw questions at her as they snapped photos of her and Lena, who was standing behind her with a solemn look.

All in one speech, she declared,

"I swore to protect humans from now on! I am not against them. They're all my people. So I assure all of you—with the power I have, I'll protect my people," she spoke boldly, her voice carrying over the crowd. The silence that followed was thunderous. Then came a wave of whispers and murmurs.

Gossips echoed everywhere. Everyone was surprised—astonished at the words, stunned by the transformation. The world had changed overnight, and so had Luna.
