Mia's POV
"Are you sure you don't want something in pink?" Paula teased, holding up a strappy heel like it was a glass slipper.
I narrowed my eyes. "I'm married, remember? This isn't a date outfit."
"Oh, please," she scoffed. "You're married, but not married. And the Saint men look like heartbreak in tuxedos. You need armor."
I laughed, shaking my head, but the smile froze on my lips when I spotted a familiar silver-eyed man standing by the watch boutique.
Ryan.
In a perfectly tailored charcoal coat, he looked like he stepped out of a luxury campaign. Cold, detached, and so out of place in the weekend chaos of the mall. Next to him stood someone equally striking—tall, sharp suit, slightly tousled hair, piercing dark eyes.
Ezra.
"Speak of the devil," Paula murmured beside me.
Ryan's gaze found mine instantly. His lips twitched—barely. Ezra followed his gaze, and the second his eyes landed on Paula, something flickered. It wasn't subtle. He stared like he'd forgotten what he was doing.
Paula stared back, just as stunned.
"Well," I said under my breath, "that escalated quickly."
Ryan walked over, Ezra trailing silently behind. "Didn't expect to see you here," Ryan said smoothly.
"Neither did I. I was just—shopping. For armor." I shot Paula a look.
Ryan glanced at her, then at Ezra, whose gaze hadn't moved an inch off Paula. "Ezra, meet Dr. Paula Deen. Mia's best friend and a gynecologist at Saint Haven."
Ezra blinked. "You work at the hospital?"
Paula tilted her head, offering a knowing smirk. "You own any part of it?"
Ezra chuckled. "Indirectly. Business side. Investments. Ezra Saint."
Saint. Of course.
"Why don't you both come over for dinner tonight?" I blurted out before thinking. "You're already out. Might as well make it a full evening."
Paula arched a brow at me but said nothing. Ryan studied me for a moment—eyes unreadable—but nodded. "Fine. We'll be there."
As they walked away, Paula leaned in. "He's hot. Ezra. And broody. Did you see the way he looked at me?"
I chuckled, nudging her. "He might still be looking."
Paula glanced back. He was.
