Chapter 18 - May we not be alone

Life is not fair.

If someone in this room does not know that

Or does not understand this concept

I am sorry for bursting your bubble

But at the same time, I am also not sorry

Because I want you to face reality

Hopefully all of you know life is not fair

You may have learned it from experience

Or maybe your walking through life with your eyes open

Instead of closing them

For those of you who don't know this concept

Or you know it but you have yet to really experience it

Perhaps you have been living under an umbrella

Held by the hands of those who wish to protect you

Protect you from the raindrops of misery and hurt

Before they dampen your clothes of positivity

And touch your skin of innocence

So far it may have played in your favor

But that won't work forever

There will be days when everything seems to go against you

When the umbrella can't protect you from everything

Like the winds of judgement and pressure

Or the mud of self-doubt,

which you have stepped into but you just can't seem to get out of

Although, even when your foot is loose enough to get out of it

The mud still sticks to parts or your shoe

Slowing your steps towards your hopes, goals, and dreams for the future

Or maybe the worst is when one day those hands may disappear

By that time, I hope your strong enough to hold your own umbrella

Strong enough to face the winds

Strong enough to pull your feet out of the mud

And strong enough to let other hands hold your umbrella

Without fear that they may pullback or disappear

Since life is unfair we must be strong

No matter how many people are by your side

willing to go through thick and thin for you

That does not mean you won't face hardship or disappointment

It just means when your feet want to stop moving

A hand will give you a push forward

And when you've fallen, bruised and hopeless

A hand will reach out to pull you back on your feet

However you may feel no one is by your side during the unfair times

That no one is there to push your back

Or that no one is reaching out their hand

You may feel betrayal or isolation

But that may not be the end

I cannot tell the future and neither can you

Someone may not be next to you now

Or maybe in the future they people next you may disappear

But that does not mean you will be alone forever

So hope for the best and keep moving forward

My words may seem empty to those of you who do feel alone

To the ones that feel they are in the dark

But I hope, if any one person truly feels alone

That they will one day see

The world that is oh so dark

Is also filled with the light of so many beautiful hearts

There are about 7.7 billion people on earth

Some may be good

Some may be bad

But you won't know unless you talk or try to connect with them

If you tell me you feel absolutely alone

That the world is unfair

That you can do nothing

Then let me tell you,

"Yes, the world is unfair,

People get hurt, feel misery and empty at times,

Some may have everything while others have nothing,

The opportunities given to one may not be given to another,

Others may have gifts or talent you wish of having but will never get

The things you want you might not get

And some may overlook your hardwork and dedication

And instead judge your cover

Hard Work may not bear fruit

And things of your possession may be taken unjustly

But you are not alone,

7.7 billion people also have their own pain,

7.7 billion people are also struggling in this world that is unfair

not just towards you but everyone

7.7 billion people on this planet, and you still feel alone

That just means you have yet to connect to those that will understand you

So don't give up

Don't let the pain or misery win

Don't let this world keep you hidden in the dark waiting to be crushed

If you feel alone in the dark

Then get up and stay strong

Grab a flashlight if you need to

And look for someone that you can connect with

Someone to hold your umbrella, push you forward and give you a hand

Someone that will stand by you side in this unfair world.
