Chapter 1 - Part I

Chaos, that was the best definition of what lay ahead; it came as quickly as it ended, leaving the ruins of this place behind it.

In the vastness of the night, only the small glimmers of light from the cosmos and the remnants of the disaster left any indication of how badly everything had deteriorated; however, beneath all this, a small but significant glimmer of resilience still lay. A vehicle sped through the ruins beneath the crystal-clear sky, far from its prime, yet still steadfastly maintaining its pace.

Their resilience was overshadowed by a distant collapse, the smoke from the collapse of said row of buildings giving way to a shrill screech that spread into the distance, the sound of breaking glass evident.

As a result, the driver accelerated his escape even more; an attempt that was thwarted when the loud skidding of a large piece of concrete was heard.

The speed was surreal, and the only probable cause was the person responsible for the crash; there was little the vehicle could do, and so it was. The collision was inevitable, and the vehicle suffered the most when it was pushed against its will, dragged into an erratic journey where order was conspicuously absent.

He couldn't have had a worse ride, colliding with who knows how many objects and ruins lay in front of him. Something as simple as the car's good condition became a luxury after such poor treatment. The journey continued along this routine until he came across a signpost that redirected him to the side of the road. Behind him, he saw an abyss whose depth was unknown at first glance.

It would have been a fatal crash, but at least it wouldn't have been a sure death, a small hope that vanished due to a second crash that propelled him even more abruptly to his doom, the impact was such that it caused him to suddenly overturn until he went over the safety fence and fell down the hill.

But things wouldn't end that easily. The fall would be interrupted by a wide section of the site's sturdy infrastructure. There was enough room for the car to fit there without much trouble, but the fall still took its toll, and now it lay halfway down the slope. The mere touch of the wind could have sent it plummeting to a point of no return.

It swayed slowly on the edge, its barely perceptible movement filling the air with tension. It was on the verge of its inevitable demise when a grotesque shadow hovered above it. On the side of the road lay the creature, staring longingly not at the vehicle itself but at what lay inside.

The wind arrived, and with it the final rocking of the car. The beast wasted no time diving in and catching it. The scene was suspended as an inexplicable glow appeared in the background, so intense it painted the entire screen, leaving no doubt as to how the story would end.

Weeks before

Peace and harmony were once the norm in that metropolis. People lived their peaceful lives, far from the great problems, beneath a beautiful blue sky adorned with peaceful clouds. Clouds that were shattered by the metallic force of an unknown entity heading toward that same city, which is now being dragged beneath a sea of terror and tension.

The fog increasingly filled each of the streets, and people reacted with a panic that from this direction could only be perceived through cries for help.
