Chapter 5 - A Decision

As Leila got up to Eric, she asked, "Are you leaving the village?" Eric nodded, confirming his departure. Leila seized the opportunity, suggesting, "My group and I are heading to the rain city. Would you like to join us?" Eric considered the offer, as he was also going to the rain city. So, he agreed. "Yes, it would be fun to journey with someone." Eric told Leila that he was going to get his things from the hotel. Quickly, he rushed to the hotel, retrieved his map and remaining coins. After he was done, he returned to Leila and the six of them began their journey. As they arrived in the bustling city of Green, Leila remarked, "This city is much busier than usual. I wonder what's going on?" The group entered a large building. After entering the building, Leila approached a man named Kelvin. Kelvin was the leader of the Adventurers' Guild and an old friend of Leila. Leila asked Kelvin, "What's going on?" Kelvin explained that a group of vampires had been spotted kidnapping citizens. Eric was surprised. "I thought vampires were no longer on Earth. Four hundred years ago, vampires suddenly disappeared. No one knew where they went. So, why did they decide to return?" Eric was deep in thought. Kelvin added that a bounty of two hundred gold coins had been placed for anyone willing to eliminate those responsible vampires. Eric's eyes lit up at the prospect of earning a substantial amount of money, which would greatly aid him on his journey. Eric asked Kelvin, "Do you know where the lair of the vampires is?" Kelvin answered, "Yes, I do. But three groups have gone to find the vampires, and none of them have returned. It is likely that they fell victim to the vampires." Hearing Eric's question, Leila turned to him and asked, "I hope you are not thinking of going after those vampires." Eric looked at her and said, "Two hundred gold coins is a huge amount of money." Leila, hearing what Eric said, thought to herself, "Looks like he is only driven by money, not fearing the danger of going after those blood monsters." Kelvin asked Leila, "Are you guys planning to go after the vampires?" Leila looked at Kelvin and answered, "We might be going after the vampires as well." "Good luck with that, but be careful," Kelvin said before excusing himself to attend to other matters as he was the manager of the Adventurer's Guild. Victor was shocked. "You want us to go after a group of vampires?" Desperate, Leila turned to Victor. "Why are you so angry? It's just a group of vampires." "Yes, just a group of vampires, but remember he said some group of adventurers had gone after the vampires and had not returned." Jake supported Victor. "Victor is right. Besides, who made you the leader of the team that you think we would just follow whatever you say?" Eric, hearing what Jake said, was surprised. "I thought Leila was the leader of the team." Vaudeen, seeing how Jake and Victor were reacting, said, "If you guys don't want to join in the vampire hunt, say it and stop raising your voices at Leila. Before we created the team, we all agreed that Leila should be the one to guide the team. If you are so afraid of the vampires, perhaps you two should just leave the team." After hearing what Vaudeen said, Jake and Victor stood up, saying nothing. They both left in anger. After Jake and Victor had left, Leila said, "I think both of them are right. I just decided that we should go after those vampires that see humans as livestock without asking for your permission." "Don't worry about that," Michael said. "Those two were never useful to the team. Besides, who wouldn't want to go after those vampires?" "After hearing they kidnapped people from town, you are right, Michael. Those people that got kidnapped all have family and loved ones." Eric looked at Michael and Vaudeen as they were trying to comfort Leila. "I think those two are foolish. Just because it was not their family or loved ones that got kidnapped by the vampires, That's why they are behaving like that, I know of a man who kept quiet after seeing beasts destroying and killing other people, He did nothing until his family got killed, and what did he do? He decided to wipe out the entire race of beasts". As Eric said those words, his eyes were glowing green. Michael, Vaudeen, and Leila looked at Eric and wondered what had made him angry. "Eric, are you okay?" Eric looked at Leila and said, "I'm fine. I just hate people who do not take action just because they are not affected by something." Vaudeen eventually said, "I think I know the person you are referring to." Eric looked at Vaudeen and said, "Who do you think I'm referring to?" "It's Peter Elijah," Michael eventually said. "That man wiped out an entire dragon race." "Yes, but that was because his son and his family got killed by the dragon." As Leila said those words, Eric became even angrier but decided to calm himself. Leila, seeing how Eric was behaving and how Michael and Vaudeen were in rage, decided to change the topic. "Eric, can you grow trees without seeds?" Eric thought of what Leila said before answering. "Well, I could, but it would drain my energy. Why did you ask?" "Just to make sure we are in agreement first. If any of you want us to go after the vampire, raise your hands." Eric, Vaudeen, and Michael raised their hands. Leila, seeing that they all agreed to go after the vampire, said, "I was wondering if we could take some seeds with us too, so that if you are not in a place surrounded by trees, you could just grow a tree instead." "Now that I think of it, you are right. I will definitely get seeds, but where can I get them?" "Don't worry. Before we leave the city, we will look around the city market to find the seeds that you could use." After the group was done, they left the adventurers guild and went to the market. Vaudeen and Michael decided not to follow Leila and Eric to the market. They decided to go to their house to rest. As Leila and Eric were walking, Leila asked Eric a question. "What kind of seeds are you planning to buy?" "Well, I am going to buy an acorn seed." Leila was surprised. "Why do you prefer an acorn seed?" Leila asked. "Because they are strong and their trees are extremely big and hard to cut." After Eric and Leila were done buying the seeds, they both left the market. Eric looked at Leila and asked, "Where do you live?" Leila looked at Eric and said, "My house is not far from here. When we get there, you will see." After getting to Leila's house, Eric looked around and saw that she had a very nice place. The mansion was extremely big, and it was odd because only Leila stayed in the mansion. Eric looked at her and asked, "Why do you stay here alone?" Leila shrugged it off and said, "Is that your business? Just enter inside the house." As they both entered the house, Eric saw that it was lit up by chandeliers, very expensive lights, and her place looked extremely beautiful. As they went inside the house, suddenly the lights went off. Eric and Leila were shocked at once, but that was not the worst part as they saw three glowing red eyes watching them, ready to attack.
