Chapter 25 - Ian can see ghosts

At the moment when Ian's hand touched the broken spine of the Homelander.

The next moment, the system's voice sounded in his ears as expected. However, this was not the reminder Ian wanted, nor was it the bad situation he had prepared for.

[You have come into contact with an unknown, extraordinary substance. Warning: the extraordinary substance has completely subsided. A new task has been obtained. Please enter the career selection interface to view it.]

"What's going on?" Ian was a little surprised. He quickly opened his career selection interface, and a [Silent Career] selection interface appeared on it. As Ian's mind touched this strange choice, a line of text that only he could see slowly emerged.

[Awakening mission: Please ignite the fire of life of this profession. ]

As the saying goes, you don't know until you see it, and once you see it, you're even more confused. Ian was confused by the system's concise task description. Is this going to ask him to resurrect his Homelander, who has been dead for who knows how long?

"Um?"

Ian turned his head and looked at his Homelander, whose head and body were separated, spine was completely broken, and he had been dead for who knows how long. He felt that his system might be making things difficult for him.

"That's not right. The Hulk is dead, so why doesn't it say that the profession he brought about is also dormant?" Ian tried to negotiate terms with his system.

It's just that the system, which had no intelligence, didn't respond at all.

"Nonsense! This is too much nonsense!"

Ian didn't get what he wanted and was a little frustrated. He snatched Homelander's head from the corpse's hand, then slid from the Hulk's arms to the ground while holding the thing.

Hesitation and tangled. Considering it again and again.

Ian obviously wanted to test whether he could chew the head in his hand or not. He believed in the law of conservation of energy and thought that perhaps letting the matter of Homelander flow to him could also be regarded as rekindling the fire of life?

However, despite having such a unique idea, Ian still had difficulty getting over the psychological hurdle. After all, eating evil spirits and eating people are obviously two different concepts.

"It doesn't matter if this pirated Superman is inappropriate!"

Ian was ultimately unable to overcome his human instincts and threw away the hideous head of his native countryman, attempting to kick it away like a ball.

The blow was very powerful.

Chinese national football team level of footwork.

Homelander's head flew far away and did not hit the trash can that Ian wanted to kick, but fell on an abandoned bus stop covered with snow, which was completely opposite to the trash can.

The head of the Homelander was intact, but a dent was made on the metal seat of the bus stop. It can be seen that the pirated Superman actually contains quite a lot of genuine Superblood.

"Hey~"

Ian stared at the task that did not disappear. His wisdom was of no help this time. The very simple task description really made him a little confused about what to do.

"It's impossible that I am really going to resurrect Homelander?" Ian looked up at the Hulk's arm. He originally wanted to look at Homelander's headless body, but when he looked up, he found that something was wrong with the sky. He saw that something was moving in the dark and depressing leaden sky.

The outline of the thing was vague, and it didn't look like a living creature. It seemed like it was about to emerge from the clouds.

"So big."

Ian could feel that the looming object was as huge as an asteroid - huh? Maybe it was an asteroid? The boy stared in astonishment.

The things in the dark clouds became clearer and clearer, and it was a huge round object that covered the sky and the sun. At this moment, in this world where Ian had stayed for a long time, there was only silence.

"Hello!"

Someone's voice appeared!

Crisp and eager!

The sound was like a thunderclap. Ian looked suddenly in the direction of the sound, but he only had time to see the outline of a person before the familiar bell of return rang out suddenly in advance.

"Ding~~~~"

The first heavy bell sound seemed to freeze everything.

"Ding—ding—"

The second and third sounds followed one after another.

Ian jerked awake in his bed.

[00:42]

Even if it is a weird early return.

But the clock still pointed to a time that seemed eternal and unchanging.

"Are there still living people in that world!?" Ian's heart was still filled with doubt, and as he somersaulted, he jumped directly to the ceiling.

Immediately,

He pressed the ceiling with both hands again, and with the help of the interaction of forces, he fell back to the ground steadily, just in time to put on the pair of slippers placed next to the bed.

"All the superheroes are dead... who else can be alive?" Ian was puzzled by what happened at the last moment, and he also didn't understand why he suddenly returned early.

This has never happened before. Is it related to the last voice he heard, or to the mysterious round object in the sky?

"Where's my wisdom? Move?"

Ian slapped his forehead.

Well...

It did work a little, but it was obviously used in the wrong direction - a certain image suddenly flashed through Ian's mind, and then he thought about his awakening mission and the figure of the Hulk.

"Baji, baji, baji~"

Ian's slippers made a strange, clown-like noise, and he ran all the way to his second brother's bedroom and pounded on the door frantically. Jordan, who was a little confused, rubbed his eyes, opened the door, and looked at his younger brother.

"What's wrong?"

Jordan was very confused.

He yawned, as if he was a little tired.

"Where's your comic book?"

Ian didn't care whether the air was filled with the fragrance of heather. He rushed into Jordan's room and looked around. Sure enough, he found the box where Jordan stored his comic books.

Under his second brother's blank gaze, Ian kept rummaging through the box, throwing away the discs hidden inside, and finally, his eyes stopped on a yellowed comic magazine.

The Incredible Hulk

On the cover, there was that familiar green figure, ferocious and strong.

"No, you came to me late at night, did you just want to read this unpopular superhero comic that was only published for three issues and then cancelled due to poor performance?"

Jordan was very annoyed when his sprint was interrupted, but he gritted his teeth and didn't lash out because he thought of his younger brother's bad experience tonight.

"Can I borrow it?"

Ian looked at his second brother. Although he was a little unhappy, Jordan still sighed and nodded, then drove Ian, who was looking down at the comics again, out of his room.

"Damn it, I need to get back into the mood."

Jordan adjusted his mood slightly, and chose a new challenge target from the disc thrown to the ground by Ian, and started his night battle again.

And outside the bedroom door.

Ian stared at the comic in his hand, and a strong intuition told him that perhaps Homelander's inability to activate his profession and the Hulk's ability to directly activate his profession were related to this situation.

There are no stories about his homeland in the real world he lives in!

But there is the story of the Hulk!

"I was able to connect all this together thanks to my intelligence." Ian felt that he had found a way to crack the task, and just as he was about to return to the room.

"Hua La La~"

The sound of flushing was heard.

Old father Clark came out of the bathroom on the second floor.

He and Ian looked into each other's eyes.

"Um?"

Ian's gaze passed Clark and looked behind Clark. He was suddenly shocked and raised his finger with a shocked expression, pointing behind Clark.

"Dad! You are so brave! You are cheating on mom at home!" Yes, Ian saw a strange woman suddenly appearing next to Clark when he came out of the bathroom.

"What are you talking about?"

Clark subconsciously covered his arm cuffs, but after hearing Ian's accusation, his expression was stunned, and he looked back but saw nothing.

"Is it acting? No!"

Ian noticed something strange in Clark's frowning expression.

The old father was really confident, and he didn't feel guilty at all for being caught in the act. Moreover, if you think about it calmly and carefully, even if he cheated on his wife, he probably wouldn't choose to do it at home.

Unless Mom Lois agrees?

Although Europeans and Americans are indeed more open-minded, their family is still somewhat traditional. For this reason, Ian doesn't think his mother would have such a unique hobby.

But,

Why is there a woman?

"It's possible that she's not a living person at all! Is it because I've eaten ghosts that my eyes can see ghosts?" Ian first thought of the setting of an anime whose ending he hadn't seen before he traveled through time.

Then, as if he had thought of something, he lowered his head and looked at the back of his hand again.

The brand was flashing.

Yet it seemed as if only he could see it.

"Is this the reason why this big guy marked me?"

Ian looked up again.

His pupils still reflected the figure of a woman that others could not see. This woman was dressed in black, wearing a uniform, with exquisite short hair and enviable fair skin.

"Um?"

Perhaps it was because she felt Ian's prolonged gaze.

The woman tilted her head.

"Human? This is truly a... special talent."

She looked a little surprised, too.
