Chapter 34 - Death and her Knight

The smell of disinfectant suddenly became pungent.

Ian was confused by the reaction of Tessa, the female Reaper, whom he had known for two days. He even wondered if he had recognized the wrong person. Was the person he saw now the twin sister of Tessa the Reaper?

There are quite a lot of Grim Reapers.

The Grim Reapers exist everywhere in the world, distributed in every place where there is life. They are a kind of higher life wandering in the world, and their duty is to guide those who have passed away to their destination. Places like hospitals are definitely places where the Grim Reaper often appears.

Every dying soul will meet a Reaper.

There are also claims and evidence that the Grim Reapers may be a special kind of angel, but with different duties from those angels in heaven, and the essence of life can be seen as a special form of angel. Regardless of which claim is true, the indisputable fact is that the authority of all Grim Reapers comes from the "Horseman of Death" among the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

He is the most special one among the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. He belongs to the oldest group of life in the universe second only to God. Like Miss Death, he is the embodiment of the concept of death.

That's why the identity of [Death Knight's Follower] could indeed bring Ian great benefits. Of course, it could also come at a great cost, but it was something Ian couldn't refuse now.

What does his godfather think?

Ian couldn't guess.

He only knew that if there were benefits, he would accept it, and if there were disadvantages, he would resist. From the current point of view, being able to see the existence of the Reapers was still a good benefit.

"Tessa?"

Ian saw the Grim Reaper walking towards him.

"Huh?"

The Reaper's expression was even more surprised. It was obvious that Ian had not mistaken her for someone else. She was indeed Tessa. However, she acted as if she were meeting Ian for the first time.

"Honestly, honey, you can't be so angry that you start pretending not to know me just because I used your blessing, ah, no, your curse, to mess around in the bathroom a few times, right?"

Ian's first reaction was that this super fickle old woman was narrow-minded.

However.

"I don't understand what you're talking about, kid. You shouldn't be able to see me. This is against the rules." The female Grim Reaper had a suspicious look in her eyes and a confused expression, which didn't seem like she was acting.

"Are you sure we haven't met?"

Ian's Adam's apple rolled, and he was very nervous.

It wasn't because of the approaching female Grim Reaper, nor was it just because of the other party's unfamiliarity, but because as the other party got closer, he didn't smell that pleasant scent that he usually smelled from Tessa.

This made Ian think about it terribly.

If the female Reaper Tessa in front of him is not the same person as the Tessa he has seen before, then who is the fake Tessa he has seen?

[Temporary curse: For 24 hours, you will be immune to death. ]

Except for Death.

Who else has the right to give such a curse?

There was cold sweat beginning to emerge from Ian's forehead.

Perhaps his subconscious brain had already made some guesses, but Ian's will and soul obviously had their own ideas, and he was unwilling to think about the reason why he was sweating.

Don't think.

After rounding it off and deceiving himself a few more times, it is roughly equivalent to the whole world being calm. Ian gradually regained his composure with his perfect logical closed loop.

"Have we met before?" The female Grim Reaper stopped in front of Ian. The two people were very close to each other, one tall and one short. She looked at Ian with a serious expression and shook her head.

"I am a stranger to you. I believe this is our first meeting." Tessa, the Reaper, could not find any memory of Ian in her long memory.

"Gu~"

The sound of the boy swallowing became clearer.

The lights in the corridor suddenly flickered.

The female Grim Reaper suddenly looked towards the ward where the rescue was taking place. On the instrument connected to the patient's chest, the electrocardiogram representing the fluctuations of life was almost drawing a straight line.

"Sorry, I don't have much time. I don't know why you can see me, but this is not right." The female Grim Reaper raised her slightly pale right hand.

"Relax, there won't be any pain. You need to forget our meeting. I think this special fate will guide us to meet again when you leave this world in the future."

The beautiful reaper's voice was very gentle, even kind. Her hand was about to touch Ian's forehead, but she found that Ian actually moved his head closer.

But...

The female Grim Reaper's hand did not touch the boy's forehead, but was bitten on the wrist by the boy, who opened his mouth. She was caught off guard, and her whole body froze in place.

"What are you doing?"

Tessa, the goddess of death, was confused. She felt Ian's teeth working hard to bite her.

After a moment.

"I'm sorry, that was payback for such an unfair sneak attack." Ian let go of the other person's hand awkwardly and politely took out a tissue to wipe his saliva off Tessa's hand.

"It seems that Einstein's theory is still very limited." Ian's expression was very melancholic. In fact, he was unwilling to believe that science had limits. He would rather think that his teeth were not good enough to bite through Reapers.

"????"

The new Tessa was still confused. She could understand every word Ian said, but she just didn't understand what he was saying. However, she still discovered something that made her unbelievable.

"The teeth marks."

The female Grim Reaper raised her clean hand and saw clear teeth marks on her wrist where she had been bitten, reflecting a physical sensation she had never experienced before.

That's pain.

This is absolutely impossible to happen; the Grim Reaper should be immune to all physical harm from the human world. Ian, who knows the characteristics of the Reapers, can probably understand the confusion of this cute and clueless Reaper.

"I think it's because of this reason, can't you see it?" Ian raised the back of his hand, on which the mark of the Knight of Death was flashing.

"Is there any magical power?"

The female reaper couldn't see or feel it. She just frowned slightly and suddenly spoke to the air, "Andrew, I need some help here."

The words fell, and the next moment.

A man with slicked-back hair and a black uniform appeared silently behind Ian. He was obviously also a Reaper, and his bony hands pressed directly on Ian's crown.

"Tessa, you can't even handle a little boy with clairvoyance?" The man's voice behind him sounded lazy, and he pinched Ian's head hard out of impatience.

"Brother, you're messing up my hairstyle." Ian was startled at first, then he turned around without hesitation, raised his hand, and punched the Grim Reaper behind him.

The hit is accurate.

The handsome Grim Reaper named Andrew straightened his body, then fell to his knees, covered his crotch with his hands in disbelief, and let out an almost heart-wrenching howl.

"It's broken! It's really broken! It shouldn't be broken!"

Readers who have experienced being punched in the balls know it hurts more and more if you're not prepared. And for the Grim Reaper who had never felt something physically, his first time made the male Grim Reaper roll around on the ground like crazy.

There were many people coming and going around him, but they couldn't see the Grim Reaper. They just looked at the boy doing strange behavior and talking to the air with strange eyes.

"This is impossible! Can you really hurt Reapers?" When Tessa saw the miserable condition of her companion, she instinctively tightened her legs and quickly took a few steps back to distance herself from Ian.

Ian did not answer the female Reaper's question. After realizing that he could really hurt a being like the Grim Reaper, he just raised his fist with a flashing mark on it, thinking.

"This should be the gift you gave me, boss." Ian took out the mysterious pendant from his clothes and put it to his lips as if he were making a phone call.

"If it's really you, please let me know! Otherwise, I will have to call you godfather." Ian's tone was not flattering.

He just wanted to make progress and upgrade his game every day. This "call" may not have gone through, because Ian didn't hear any whispers from the ancient gods.

But...
