"But still, doesn't that sound intriguing?"
While Fitzgerald prepared to hear my demand, I immediately shattered his anticipation with a question, earning a suspicious gaze from everyone.
"Why do you all look at me like that?"
With a joking demeanor, I question the Guild member knowing full well the reasons, as they immediately decrease their gaze intensified.
"What do you mean by that, Mr…"
"… The name Jouno."
"Right, Mr. Jouno, could you explain in detail what you're trying to convey?"
"I'll tell you about the Book."
With just a single casual line, the whole room immediately becomes unbearable, as everyone's now looking at me with clear murderous eyes.
But with their target though… Let's say that it's not like I got affected by their hostility at all.
"… Well then, please enlighten us with your knowledge, Mr. Jouno."
With a deeper voice than earlier, he slowly asked, or to be exact demand, for my answer about it.
"Let's cut to the chase, I have no idea where the full Book is."
Immediately after my casual statement, once again, everyone in this room further intensified their gaze on me, which could honestly knock normal people down by their sheer aura alone.
And once again, I still look down on them with a rather annoyed look, not even twitching under their threatened aura.
I mean, although I get their reasons, this still feels a bit hurting considering I make them a wholehearted meal…
The Book, one of, if not wanted to say only, the ,mightiest object in the verse.
It's invulnerable to all kinds of outside force, nor be harmed by any Ability and is now currently lost to time.
It doesn't have any fancy functions or cool gimmick, yet it possessed so much more than those useless things.
The only thing it can do, is to rewrite the whole reality according to what was written on it. Anything, no limit whatsoever.
Although the thing did have many restrictions that would prevent many scenarios from being real, there's no doubt to say that it might be the mightiest object in this world…
"… But still, from what you told us by now, I believe that isn't the end of your knowledge isn't it?"
With a calming attitude, contrary to his killing aura a moment ago, he pursued me again and cleared everyone's gaze on me.
"I don't know where the full Book is, indeed, but I know where the Page is."
"The… Page?"
Fitzgerald expressed a hint of doubt, as everyone started to be baffled with what I just said.
"A Page ripped from the very Book you're looking for, it is."
Yep, albeit being apart from the almighty Book, it still retains its reality-alternation property of its originality.
Judging by his motive, I doubt that he actually needs more than a single page to fulfill that…
But still, I still wanted to complain about one thing about all of this… WHERE'S THE LOGIC IN IT?!
I don't hate the whole Book lore thing, since it did set a goal for antagonist to arrive at this city, but what I can handle is why someone can just casually ripped a page out of it, when it's clearly stated beforehand that the Book is INVULNERABLE TO ALL KIND OF DAMAGE!!!!!!!!
HOW?! How can an invincible object be ripped that easily?!
And yet, despite all the complaints going on in my head, I still keep my straight face with everyone in the room.
I then slowly spoiled the very thing that basically turns the table on the Agency in the second saga, one that still continues as of now, and everyone slowly widens their eyes in doubt and surprise.
"That… sounds really possible."
Fitzgerald, now baffled by my new intel, fell into deep thoughts about everything, as well as others. For me, I'm not going to interfere their thoughts, since all of this did sound intrigued.
I mean, who could keep their calm after knowing the gold they're desperate trying to find is right under their feet?
Ugh… this whole storyline is really a mess… First is the Page, now this… so much plot hole…
Screw it, I'm here anyway. Might as well ball'ed with it 'till the end!
"Well then, since you didn't need the Book, may I ask you not to go after the kittyboy?"
"Kitty…?"
"The tiger beetle."
"Ah… that's unfortunate, but we won't. After all, letting such a valuable target behind is not an option for us."
With an apologetic manner, he said the one line I wished not to hear…
… Damn, thought I could deter their objection with the Page, tch!
"Well, we'll get everyone to re-check that information of your… As of you—"
Fitzgerald's eye flashed a hint of danger in a moment, which I slightly raised my eyebrow back in response.
"—What do you want in return?"
"An unofficial position with your Guild, with 1 billion dollars for winning that deal."
"Done."
Everyone then looks between me and Fitzgerald in awe, seemingly shocking with how both of us resolve this matter this fast. I bet that their shock is mostly on me, considering that Fitzgerald is quite generous, or would I dare to say wasted, money daily.
In fact, with how he wasted his money in the original work, I'm still surprised that his ability didn't erase him in its entirety when he decided to offer all his fortune considering how he just casually regained some of his money back, one that a normal people struggle to have in years, in a span of a week.
… Wait, if I'm not wrong, the one who's helped him with that case should be…
"Mr.Fitzgerald!!"
As I was trying to remember a certain shy girl, someone suddenly barged into the room and panicked. It was a short-hair girl with overall simple attire with long clothing, seeming trying as much to hide her overall features as possible.
Ah yes, Alcott and her society anxiety… How nostalgic…
… Oh yeah, the strongest strategist in the Guild, the primary party who helped in Fitzgerald resurrection.
"… Eeeekkkk!!!!!!!!"
As soon as I started to subconsciously look back at her, the girl made a weirdly panicked yet cute sound and hid her face under the documents she carried.
"What business brought you here, Alcott?"
"Eh?! Eto…"
Taking a slightly embarrassed glance at me, the girl, namely Alcott, quickly walked to Fitzgerald's side under everyone's gaze and whispered something in his eyes, which frowned his eyes with each passing second.
"I see…"
After listening to all of Alcott's information, he let out a sigh, not out of concern or relief… but it's hard to figure out his true emotion right now.
Judging from his face earlier, I think that it wasn't good news at all…
"Well then, this is a delightful dinner, but I have to take my leave right now."
And with that, he then stood up and walked out of the room with Alcott walking behind him, albeit reluctantly, leaving me alone with everyone else now staring at my face full of curiosity…
"Um… Mr.Fitzgerald…"
While walking toward the office to resolve new information, Alcott suddenly asked Fitzgerald with a trembling voice.
"What's wrong Alcott?"
"May I ask… about the kid just now…?"
"The kid huh…"
Fitzgerald fell into his thoughts with Alcott concern, remembering back about when he made such a ridiculous deal earlier…
"Let's just say… the kid is a lot like me."
"Eh? Similar…?"
"… Nothing."
"And by the way, Alcott, could you help me with this?"
With a faint smile and an undistinguished expression, he then questions Alcott with a "personal" request of his, one that raises her eyebrow in confusion yet curiously.
"That… I could do it."
"Great, I expected no less from you, the greatest strategist of ours."
"Ghk…?!"
Alcott's face immediately painted in a single red color, as she struggled to regain her composure with that casual compliment from Fitzgerald while walking all awkwardly right behind him, barely missing a hint of something right below…
"This is the place…?"
Standing nearby a luxury and outstanding hotel, 2 single figures hiding themselves in a nearby building. They whisper something to the phone in their hand.
[Yeah, this is the place.]
The casual voice from the phone immediately confirms their question, as they look back at the hotel with a determined look.
"Ready, Kyouka?"
"Mhm…"
One of the figures asked the partner, as the one in question immediately nodded her head in response. And without further question, they disappear from the building into the shadow that quickly shrouded the place…
