Outside of Cadmus Lab, a dark-haired, black-eyed teenager stood with an expressionless face. He strolled into view, stepping past firefighters and the recently arrived police officers, along with medics who were setting up a cordon around the building. They worked to keep the growing crowd of neighbors and civilians away from the chaos, even as a small group of individuals in white lab coats and janitor uniforms received treatment for burns and smoke inhalation.
"Hey, kid, you can't go in there!" one of the uniformed police officers called out as he saw the young man step toward the still-burning building.
The boy, standing at an imposing 6 feet tall with broad shoulders and a heavy muscular frame, exuded an air of quiet strength. His dark eyes, devoid of warmth, resembled an endless pit, drawing in the light around them while revealing nothing of his inner thoughts. He wore a simple red long-sleeve shirt that clung to his physique, paired with long black pants that flowed down to sturdy brown shoes, surprisingly scuffed and worn.
Ignoring the officer's warning, the teen pressed forward, his determination evident as he bypassed the police cordon with casual ease. The surrounding officers quickly noticed his defiance and scrambled to intercept him. One officer stepped assertively in front of the determined young man, attempting to block his path.
"Please, step back, or I will have to use force," the officer warned, his voice steady but laced with urgency.
The teen glanced down at the officer, a flicker of amusement playing at the corners of his mouth. Suddenly, his feet ascended off the ground. The officers stared wide-eyed, disbelief washing over their faces as they realized that stopping him was now utterly pointless.
All around the area, citizens watched in a mix of awe and confusion. Some believed a hero had come to assist with the fire, but they were tragically mistaken, unaware of the true nature of the boy before them.
Entering the second floor of Cadmus Lab, the trimmed dark-haired teen walked through the burnt wreckage. His dark eyes flickered and locked onto a set of elevator doors. With a slight grunt, he ripped the doors off with barely any force. Looking down, he was greeted by darkness. Without any warning, he leaped down, rapidly disappearing into the lower layers of Cadmus.
"Diana is indebted to me for having me take on the role of the hero alongside these children."
