"On your left Jay!!" Hearing Cleo's call I swiftly change my grip on the sword I was holding and swing it sideways, blocking the short sword that would otherwise cut my head off. In another motion, I slash the head of the goblin that attacked me.
"Thanks for the heads up" I tell her.
It has been three days since we started this journey. And I have realized how strong my party members are. Max can kill the goblins with a single strike without ever getting overwhelmed, he has a 360-degree awareness and so none of the goblins ever land a hit on him. Sarah and her long range skills can utterly devastate a horde of mobs. And Cleo is so fast, you can just see her afterimages, while in battle. She fights less and scans the area more. If it weren't for her, I would be dead three times over already.
I have collected four skill token in the three days, after killing 32 Iron goblins so far.
Apparently the skill tokens you get from killing mobs can have attributes that lead the skill you acquire in a certain direction. For example, Max had used Skill Token: Dragon's Heart, which gave him the skill to store more MP than normal, and release it as a huge blast, similar to a Dragon's Breath. So far out of the four tokens, only one is Attributed with a goblin, and that was Skill Token: Goblin's Horde. But for the time being I am not using the skill tokens and instead only using my sword and Void Step to fight the goblins. Even without using my Sword Master talent, I can now fight the goblins with ease.
"So far we have cleared half of the nest. And today was a long day, fighting ten bronze mobs is tiring you know? Let's get some rest now." Sarah said.
"I will continue fighting a bit more, I haven't reached my goal today. You guys rest." I replied.
"Be careful, there are more bronze goblins than we expected." Max warned me.
Heading into the nest once again, I start fighting goblins, killing them with two or three strikes. Even after killing more than thirty of them, I can't kill them in one strike when they come at me as a group. In the end I decide to reach forty kills in total. After reaching my goal, I start heading out."
*Grrrr* "Homaun!!! Thy Leaw Nar!!!!" I heard the roar of a goblin.
It can speak?? What's that language? Goblin language??? Since when do Goblins speak??
I turn to look at the source of the sound. As soon as I do, my entire body freezes. My mind screams at me to run. My legs too scared to follow my brain.
The monster in front of me was no mere goblin. It was a 6 feet tall figure, a huge body. It had sharp class and fangs. A sword much better than those stupid jagged daggers those 2 feet figures had. And he even had intelligence in his eyes.
"This can only mean one thing. It's neither iron nor bronze ranked." *Gulp* "Should I use slowdown on it and voidstep? But silver speed can bypass the slowdown effect, I am sure of it. My talent won't help either. I will have to voidstep as soon as I use slowdown, it will have to adapt to the effect atleast."
As soon as I make the plan, I use slowdown on it and voidstep near the exit of the nest. "Max!!! There's a silver monster!!"
*Swishhhhh* I hear the sword behind me, moving to behead me in a single strike *clankkk* sound of metal colliding with metal is heard.
"Jay!! Didn't I warn you? Sarah!! Fire circle on the Goblin Leader! Cleo check for his weaknesses!"
Flames erupt all around the Goblin Leader, while max starts fighting him in melee. Even though the gaps between both of them is huge, Max was keeping up with the Goblin. I decide to use Slowdown on it once again, to give Max a bit of relief. And activate my talent. Even before Cleo could discern the weakness, I Instinctively knew it's weakness.
"Max, it's stomach! It's a weak point! Even his head is protected by hard skin. You have to stab his heart through the stomach!"
I move in and start slashing at it's empty hand, to give Max a bit of space for his attacks. My attacks only leave scratches on it's skin, proving the difference in strength. Void Stepping behind it, I slash on its back which makes the Goblin Leader flinch, giving max the opportunity to stab it's stomach. As soon as he did, the monster let out a roar. *Ghhhhhhrrr* "Homaun keel yaur!!!"
"It can speak???? Cleo what does he mean?" Sarah commented.
Why would cleo know- "It says it will kill us humans" Cleo spoke. Okay yeah, that's weird, maybe it's one of her skills she hasn't told me about yet.
The fight continued for another 5 minutes, and in the end Max managed to completely stab it's heart.
The Goblin Leader dropped 3 Silver and 21 Bronze coins, along with it's sword and a necklace. And a Resonator!!
"Jay. You have some explaining to do.."
