In a misty dream like landscape Soulless stands his mind foggy and paining he curses before looking around to see nothing but fog as far as the eye can see but everything slows down as a younger version of Sol Reinhart runs through him like some kind of ghost followed by fog age his body a oceanic blue in colour
As Sol stops inches from his parents who seem to have smiles and carrying a baby Maria , Soulless feeling that he as began to lose himself within the memories of Sol starts falling down into a sea of thoughts,feels and screams as he covers his ears and shuts his eyes but that do dies not work for the screams just grow louder and louder before everything goes silent with a eerie buzz
Sol feeling a word touch in his cheeks slowly opens his eyes to see a woman wearing a black wedding dress with a black veil
Her hands pale and hair pale like snow and the smile on her face predatory with her eyes glowing a light violet she seems to stare straight into his soul her glaze seeming to drive soulless deeper into insanity as she speaks with a muffled voice that comes from everywhere
Soulless breathes in ragged gasps before walking up to see Maria holding his cheeks with a concerned looked in her eyes
Soulless smiling trysbto regain his composure as he stretched
"How long was I sleeping on this chair"he asked with a cheerful voice
Maria her voice filled with concern and worry sighs before returning to her workbench " from yesterday evening and you have a fever go to the doctor"
Soulless shocked touches his forehead before remembering Maria a talented engineer also as a talent picking up on medical issues be it a simple fever or a life threatening illness
Soulless walk-in to take a bath chuckles and with a smirk "it's just a simple fever it will press,what are you doing"his voice was calm and reassuring but his thoughts were drifted to the concerned look Maria always as
He knows very well she cares for her brothers deeply and often over thinks but he can't quite shake off the feeling there's something more to all this but he brushes the throught away for later
He gets up and walks into the bathroom to wash himself, Maria get worry giving way to curiosity sarcastically says "where are you going to work , you must have really hit your head"
Soulless walking out wearing his usual clothing all be it with a brown trench coat replays with a smirk"I have an interview today I'll be back a bit late so don't forget to lock him"
He walks out leaving Maria surprised she never expected him to say that he actually as a job interview since she's used to get brother being able to found a job for mouths
A few minutes later the scene in a luxurious carriage with Dave and Celeste,the two discuss what to do about Sol Reinhart case while Soulless drifts back to the conversation he had the previous day with Dave about how cases like this are rare in which a group of people take here own lives after a failured attempt of becaming sorcerers but the detail that caught his attention was that give years ago a similar case appeared all be it it was a cult that worshipped an outer god
The cult itself known as the blighted omen used to convince there own members to sacrifice there own lives to the outer god in order for the remaining members to gain power and wealth but in truth it was just a scan designed to harvest the organs of those they sacrifice until one day after they sacrificed the life of a young girl a fiend appeared in her place a slaughtered each and every last one leaving only a hand full of remaining members
The carriage stops outside a cathedral as the trio walk in, a pawn entering Dave speaks to the recipientist and then looks at Soulless
"This is one of the evangelist cathedral designed to provide resources and knowledge to our sorcerers for now we'll try and get you two admitted into the church records"he explained with his usual deadpan seriousness
Soulless tilting his head in confusion repeats the word "we" as Celeste laughs at him and explains with a teasing tone "you didn't know I'm also a rookie when it comes to those things but I guess not as much as you"
Soulless sighing in bewilderment as Dave gestures for him to follow, after minutes they enter a seemingly all dark room and Dave explains in this line of work those who don't yet possess the ability to consciously use mysticism must use mystical tools,the room lights up revealing verious weapons
Dave picking out a revolver and single edged blade hands them to soulless along with there sheaths before heading out with Celeste , soulless rushing to catch up to them noticed a group of man moving what seemed to a large template with an ancient text on it
The man stopped for a break and looked the other way, Soulless saw an opportunity to take a look as he creeped towards the temple he saw the glow was growing brighter ,his eyes dotted to the only uncovered part of the template and a book fell down ,he quickly picked it up before anyone can notice hiding it In his cost before rushing to catch up with Dave and Celeste
As he returns to the group he hears Dave explaining the many opportunities those line of work offers to a very disinterested Celeste"this job as many peaks to offer
From health care to a stable earnings if your lucky your be moved to one of the capital benches and gain access to top secret information even the formulas needed for you to advance through your class but this means you'll be sent on more dangerous missions and mostly on your own,the pros and cons are always here in any line of work but we just have to bare it"he said with a voice that was filled with passion
Celeste looking like she's half asleep with her eyes narrowed and brows furrowed in confusion she gave Dave a long side wide glance before asking "why are you a sorcerer anyways you seem more like a mundane business man"
Dave eyes widening as his hair begins to cast shadows over his face making that only his cold narrowed eyes are visible,his silence and sudden change when asked the question speaks volumes to Celeste who bluts out an apology
Soulless walk-in towards them with a somewhat haunted expression as he can't seem to get the template out if his mind from the way the runes glowed a deep red to the eerie feeling that it was calling out to him but hr pushes the thoughts to the side and then asks"where are we going anyway"
Dave glancing back at him explains that they are heading to see a orcale"it's mostly a routine check since your a new member we have to check your mental health"
Soulless nodding in agreement begins to think what if they found out his not who he really says he is just a soul trapped in another person body from what his see of the world so far there's no space for error and no clear outcome if they found out who he really is
They reach a oak door with golden trimmings and with a light knock and slightly high pitched voice with a deep edge shouts "come in"Dave opening the door reveals a woman wearing a all white robe with a hood covering her eyes and long white hair
She had an almost another worldly presence that seem to send chills down Celeste spine as she points and shouts in an overky aggressive and dramatic voice "why in our goddess's name do you constantly call her,she's freaky and not in a good way"
Dave his expression mildly annoyed and mildly amused speaks with his usual deadpan seriousness "she's our units Oracle and seer so better get used to her being 'freaky' or go back to.... he trails off looking into the distance before walking out
Hr glances back in the room and with a voice that could freeze fire says"I'll be back in a moment please do your best to keep your behaviour in check and Oracle please proceed without me"
Dave walked out closing the door behind him as Oracle looking at soulless gestures for him to seat down which he does without hesitation he can senses that she's not entirely human she's something more but his thoughts are cut short but Celeste arm over his shoulder as she whispers "good luck"before running off like a scared little child
The oracle wasting no time cups soulless cheeks and tilts his face up as she floats her hood moving back slightly to reveal her eyes which are as dark as the shadows forming around them, soulless founds himself lost in them as twinkles appear in them like stars in the night sky
Soulless eyes widening as he suddenly rushed with Sol fragmented memories the information refilling his brain but this them seeming to be hammered into his skull as he screams out in pain falling to his knees
But then he stops and gets into his feet as he walks
Step...step..step he stops to what seems to be a reflection of himself in a pure white reality but he knows that it's not him its the man his been pretending to be as his reflection or better yet Sol himself walks out of the mirror
There eyes lock the difference between them visible from Sol cold lifeless stare to the smile face on his face and that glow in his eyes, Soulless who's been wondering about what motivated him and what drove sol to commit since horrible sins seemed as clear as a day
He returns to the real world to see Oracle Bowing's deeply her voice timid and soft
"Forgive me if I startled you..I .. was just trying to... soulless cuts her off with a smile and a warm voice "don't worry about it I'm fine"
His thoughts however are of disgust and hatred toward as if the truth about sol nahwa him sick to the stomach "how could he do since things for what..."he trails off before"I can't worry about that not now atleast but I can't ebenup like him I may Now take his name identity and face but I will never became a monster"
Oracle staring at Soulless or now Sol her throught drift to his mental health as she sighs and Dave walks back in bloodied and his breathing coming in gasps as he shouts the cathedral is under attack
