Cherreads

Chapter 4 - Bonus stats, unforeseen class, and overpowered skills!

A few minutes passed while Nate remained unconscious, then the screams came crashing against his ears.

He bounced awake, exclaiming the moment he heard them.

"Ah shit, here we going again." He shouted, pushing his fatigue aside and recovering from his long slumber.

'White shirt, a brown coat, and a pair of jeans. Back to school, again...' He thought.

A human-sized rift stood at the center of the classroom — a tunnel, his classmates surrounding it like curious lamps.

No one even bothered with his sudden shout, they were too distracted to care.

It was perfect for his secrecy.

He looked outside the windows, the same was happening everywhere.

Tunnels everywhere...

'Better make use of the grace period, and deal with the cancer before it grows,' Nate thought, feeling nervous.

Humanity was temporarily safe from the monsters, but monsters weren't the only factor.

There were criminals, psychopaths, and power struggles caused by the invasion.

All that had to be dealt with, whether he liked it or not.

'Focus now, no time to waste,' he thought, feeling groggy, weary, and jaded.

'Maybe due to the sudden possession or the darkness. Or maybe cause I lack mana and power now,' Nate's thoughts deepened, trying to figure out his current state.

But it didn't last long as he couldn't afford entertaining these thoughts for long.

'Better see if my body is fine, nothing here or there left by Mundus,' and so he did, check up on himself.

He ignored everything around him and pulled his phone from his pocket, staring at his reflection in the dim screen.

'Looks fine...' He nodded, having found no difference nor felt any major difference.

His face was certainly younger, his nose was small.

However, his eyes and hair were different. They stood out from the rest.

"Scary eyes, but I like them," he muttered involuntarily. His eyes were crimson, with vertical slits like Mundus's.

His hair, while it remained black, had a few strands that turned silver.

'It's fine,' he thought, tolerating the changes since they caused no true changes in him.

Nate believed it was completely fine.

Either way, he shook his head.

Flashes of his family, friends, and comrades appeared before him.

He wanted to rush, chat, and meet them, but his rationality advised otherwise.

He gritted his teeth and pushed his emotions aside, knowing they were safe or not.

As long as they didn't enter tunnels during the grace period, they would remain safe.

Why? Because the tunnels were one-way from Earth to Infernum.

Monsters couldn't invade yet.

Yet, there was no time to waste because he needed an urgent head start for his plans.

He wanted to dive in directly and unleash his fury on Infernum.

However, doing so without a class would destroy him.

Infernum was literal hell, not as peaceful as the system painted it.

Recklessness? It was unacceptable. Dangerous. Too risky.

So he chose his actions wisely, selecting his class came first.

"Status," he called softly.

Nate giggled in sarcasm, "This is trash."

He had long forgotten how weak humans started.

His stats were worse than the average human, but he knew it would change once he selected his class.

'Since it says 'Prince of Darkness' then Mundus should be related to darkness one way or another,' Nate thought. 'Please don't toy with me,' he prayed.

'Better move on... for now,' Nate shook his head, pressing the (SELECT) button.

————————————————————————

Select your class from the options below:

Warrior, Archer, Mage, Healer, Summoner

Assassin, Shaman, Enchanter, Alchemist, Blacksmith

————————————————————————

Warrior, Archer, Assassin, and Blacksmith were highlighted due to human nature.

Humans lacked inherent Mana cores, so the remaining classes sucked.

But so what? There were over ten billion humans.

The talented pushed past the limitation, achieving great results. But it was too late as the Grace Period was over...

However, changes were imminent. Nate planned to support all valuable talents.

He chose to share useful guides to slowly build enough power to resist the invasion.

Still, he didn't trust humans completely. Thus, he chose Summoner for the potential army.

Nate's eyes widened, almost bouncing off his desk.

"No way!" he gasped, rubbing his hands together. "What is even that?!"

Vicious Summoner? He had never heard of such a class.

He felt more thankful than ever before.

Mundus's power was impressive enough that it wiped out all of his doubts.

He couldn't hold himself further, opening his skills tab immediately.

"..." Nate froze from the shock.

An average human had three skills maximum in the class selection.

But he had seven, and it changed everything!

He could easily work around it even if he couldn't afford a strong summon.

If he needed loyal subordinates, Soul Brand could do a fine job. Divine Grudge was great, but he felt Wither was much better.

In the end, he couldn't deny that all of his skills were useful.

But first, he had to level up properly to use them.

He stood up excitedly, casting Soul Summon for the first time!
